DCU delcline
I’ve been a member since I was a teen after getting my first job and had no issues until recent years when over 10k was stolen from me through DCU’s people pay function to a stranger. At this point Dcu didn’t notify me and neither did the app. How do you ignore 10k+ transactions?!
Now with this new app the user interface is terrible and no more account previews on the dash for iPhones. This is a feature my family and I used heavily. Having to log in every time to a slow app (even with great service updates and new phones) is a pain. Bring back the feature that never should have been removed and increase security. It’s the people’s money not yours!

Awful "Upgrade" that extends to more than the app
After multiple decades with DCU, I’ve pulled the plug and moved my accounts elsewhere.
The new app and site are a disaster, they broke all third party integrations including those used to send/receive payments, and they’ve been giving the same canned responses on social media for multiple months now, despite all of those issues being readily apparent from the time they cut over the first users a month before flipping the switch on everyone else. Call times to customer support are through the roof, I received random bogus messages about failed transactions, I still see people with missed payments and double payments shouting into the void on Twitter because DCU can’t fix any of it and won’t give anyone a real answer.
The only silver lining is that I’ve been out for a month and I’m only tracking it to see if l’ll ever be able to reconcile the month of April once they restore third party integrations.

Optimistic for the improvements
The new app and website look great but a lot more work needs to be done to fix bugs and glitches. The auto-payments with external accounts do not go through properly. Both last month and this month (May), I will see that the payment is set up properly and scheduled. But when the scheduled day comes and goes, the auto payment does not occur. It would also be nice to have the option of receiving app notifications directly on the phone instead of email and text as the only alert notification options.

App+Website changed for much worse
Very disappointed with the new app and website -both are super slow. Key features are buried deep down and require multiple clicks (and waiting) to load. I was doing my taxes this year I tried to filter down, on the website, Bill Payments to a particular payee - NO filter was available on MoveMoney-Pay Bills. I then tried filtering via Account activity - this filter (date range + phrase) does exist on the website, however, search by phrase does NOT work at all. My suggestion is listen to the feedback of your customers and hire a competent UX (user experience) resource(s) to revamp your tools. I am seriously considering switching to a different bank, as much as I loved being part of it, for many years.

A couple more things to work on.
This new UI implentation is generally good. It is nice to have a UI consistency between the mobile and web and the new UI is cleaner, although it uses more screen real estate than the old one. Here are a couple of things that still need attention.
1. Scanned images of checks in the mobile app are not zoomable. They should be, as they are impossible to read otherwise.
2. The list of billers in Billpayer places the nickname underneath the official name of the biller. Often the nickname is truncated. The reason for nicknames is to be able to find things quickly, and I would suggest that if the user specified a nickname it should be placed at the top of the biller entry rather than the bottom. That would make it much easier to determine, say which Visa card the biller panel refers to. (Some users may have more than or joint account holders might each have their own).

I think it’s finally time to leave DCU
I have been a proud DCU member since childhood. I opened my first savings account with DCU. I’m sad to say I’m taking the most recent website and app changes as a signal that it’s time to move on.
I expected an adjustment period to the new interface and features, but by now it’s clear to me that DCU’s goal is no longer providing great rates and service to its members. This new app is just a mess…starting with the Dashboard you land on, which displays literally nothing I would want to see daily when I check the app. Basic features are practically hidden away (e.g. check deposits are under “Move Money”, when I would expect “Move Money” to only include actions involving funds already present in my accounts). I could go on (and on) but other reviewers have detailed my issues and more.
If DCU wants to play Big Bank, their website and app should at least be intuitive and function well. Once our home purchase is complete (definitely NOT financed through DCU), my plan is to close all of my DCU accounts.

My new favorite banking app
I have accounts at several different banks so have seen my fair share of “bank apps”. DCU used to be one of the more clunky apps of the bunch but it’s now probably the most modern of the banking apps I use.
I’m also loving some of the new features… for example a few future oriented charts I’ve only ever seen before when meeting with a financial planner (but unlike the financial planner these insights didn’t cost me an arm and a leg).
Appreciate the upgrade— well done!

SLOW and too many steps for everything
This app is soooo slow. It takes forever even to load the first page (which is not your accounts and that’s annoying and additional step) then to move to other pages, it’s terribly slow, once you get to your page it’s not user friendly, too many steps to make transfers, pay a bill or even see your activity. The old app was much easier to use and much more user friendly. When you want to pay a bill, you have to select from the first page from “payment” which gives you too many options, then to see if you have something scheduled it’s a different page now, before it was consolidated and showed all your information on one page. It’s just overall annoying and way too slow.

Worse than Old App
Ever since the update, I am not able to add the quick balances to my widgets on my iPhone like I could before. I was able to quickly check my balances by just swiping over to my widgets on my screen before making a purchase, but now I have to actually go to my app and log in and wait for it to load (ridiculously slow) before knowing how much I have. I can’t quickly make a transfer like before either and they have you set a date for the transfer to go through? They even have a message that if it’s after a certain time it may not go through which was never the case on the old app. I could do a quick one time transfer in the middle of the night if I wanted to and it would be fine. On top of that they’ve removed the travel notifications from the app so I no longer am able to set a travel notification without calling or emailing. Downside to this, I have to wait on hold for an hour OR email and wait TWO DAYS for a confirmation. I don’t think removing helpful features is the best way to make the app better and make banking easier for members. No one wants to go to a branch or wait on hold if they don’t have to.
Update: I ended up finding the travel notifications after posting this so ignore that part lol

Seems to work okay
I didn’t mind the old app because I got used to it but it is nice have a modern looking app now but I have complaints. Just to make a transfer you have to go through like 5 different screens which is just annoying. When you load up the app it opens in a savings goal and not your actual bank account, you have to click the tab at the bottom just to see your bank account. It doesn’t sound like a big problem but it gets really annoying. Also they NEED to make a widget for this app, it was super convenient having one because I can check all my info just by swiping over on my Lock Screen. Everything else seems decent and I like how you can add external accounts now. But they don’t even have a Coinbase option which doesn’t make any sense to me. Hopefully they’ll add it soon. I’m really giving it 3 stars because of it not having a widget, it was my favorite part about the old app and I was assuming they’d have it on the new one since widgets have been out for years…. Guess not.
