  • Brilliant, actionable

It’s not just theory, you are actively not doing the thing (i.e. opening FB). Plus who would not benefit from a brief moment of pause. And the more times you are tempted to scroll social media, the more you benefit from this repeated moment of pause.
Set up was little cumbersome but I got it done, and I’m looking forward to saving time, engaging in real life more and getting my sanity back.

  • Seriously reduced screen time

I've never written an app review but this one significantly improved my day to day. After just 2 attempts of trying to open Twitter and it redirecting to the breathing exercise, I got to the point of immediately closing both apps once the one sec app opens and not opening Twitter at all for the whole day. Amazing idea and use of the shortcuts feature!

  • So annoying in all the best ways

Setting this up took a minute as it’s involved within the system settings and it’s really a very intuitive way to use the features on iOS imho….I’ve only been using it for a little over a day and I’m so annoyed with opening the apps (I put in every block possible including forcing a note on why) I’ve went from 4 hours of mindless scrolling yesterday to only 36 minutes today. it’s made opening Instagram and Facebook the most annoying part of my day. Nothing else has worked to help curb my usage of these mind numbing apps until I found this. Thank you so far! I’ll update in a month or so of how my habits have changed

  • Thank You So Much

I’ve never written a review for an app in my life- but I feel so passionately we need to do everything in our power to stop Facebook from commodifying our attention with its addictive, for-profit design. This app is an empowering breakthrough. We can discipline our minds or let them do it for us.. I’ve been looking for a way to do the former and this is it! I’m full of gratitude.

  • Excellent new feature!

I found this app very useful for getting me out of the pattern of ending up on social media without meaning to. My thumb will just take me there! Now this app gives me a chance to change my mind. In previous versions, the flaw was if I was actually trying to make an Instagram post I needed to switch between Instagram and my notes app or my photos app. Then I had to watch the automation every time I switched back to Instagram and ended up disabling the automation because it was too annoying. Now there’s a new feature that allows you to switch back-and-forth for a limited amount of time and still keep the automation set. This is great! Great job great developers! Super useful app!

  • Just one thing…

The articles won’t load—under the instructions tab. I would really love to be able to read through them to be able to use the app better and be better at using social media, but every time I click on one of the articles, it says it can’t be loaded. I’m giving it 3/5 only for that reason, because if I could load these, it would be perfect. I would appreciate if these could be fixed. Thank you.

  • Amazing!

I needed a way to stop the mindless social media check that was better than the built in locking features on iPhone or any other app. It’s brilliant because instead of trying to force you to not go on the apps, which makes me rebel just because I can, it instead makes you really think about WHY you’re doing it. And it makes it easier (big button, no need to add a reason) to decide not to go on than to go on. Now if I’m going on a distracting social media app I have to be intentional about it. Not only that, but if I close and try to reopen, i have to do the exercise all over again. My screen time is down 40% since I started using the app and I am so thankful for it!

  • Love it! But…

It really helps you eliminate that knee-jerk reaction to opening app mindlessly. My only issue with it is that it ends up creating lots of notifications.

I know it’s Apple’s fault, since they make it impossible to permanently disable Shortcuts notifications, but sadly it adds up to the overall app experience. Cluttering the Notification Center is an unwanted side-effect of the app (although FAR less important than the problem it solved).

Would love for Apple to solve this issue soon

PS. I’m aware of the option to hide notifications within Screen Time, but they get turned back on again each day when i turn on my phone in the morning

PPS. Don’t let this little bug prevent you from getting this life-changing app

  • Very good, some improvements would make it much more usable.

It works very well, my feedback for improvement would be:

    • Enable user-customised colours on the breathing animation, as some of the presets aren’t very aesthetically pleasing.

    • The one-sec automation is triggered every time the app is “opened”, meaning even a momentary change in apps, or opening the App Switcher screen on iOS, causes the animation to trigger again when returning. Is it possible to configure a time delay (eg 5 minutes of inactivity) before triggering the one-sec shortcut and animation??

    • Related issue to the second suggestion — Apple’s iOS displays a tiny app switching button in the top left corner of the current app, intended to allow iPhone users to return quickly to their previously used app. Unfortunately some social media apps (Reddit) make it is easy to accidentally trigger this by mistake and exit the active app, causing a one-sec animation when returning. Unsure how this could be resolved, but it’s quite annoying and warrants some attention?

Otherwise, thank you for creating this app, it functions pretty much as advertised.

    Developer Response

Hello, thanks a lot for your feedback! For your second point I’d recommend to take a look at one sec settings. This already let’s you chose a time frame in which you can reopen the app (counting from the first breathing exercise). On top of that, I am also working on a new feature which lets you add a second shortcut automation for app closings. This will allow you to reopen the App within a certain time after closing it (accidentally). I’d love to add you to our beta team so you can give it a try. Please message me under info@frogg.io so I can add you there. – Frederik
  • ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My absolute worst habit is switching mindlessly between social media apps, literally closing twitter and opening instagram, then closing instagram and opening twitter on a loop. I probably pick up my phone every 15-20 mins on total impulse, as soon as my brain stops having an active thought process. This has absolutely cut that down - just that second to think about whether I actually have a reason for opening the app or if I did it out of habit, and being able to see my open rate immediately after so I am encouraged to keep the percentage low... I’ve tried lots of things to keep screentime down but this actually works!! I would love to see an update that lets you do the same thing for games (my second worst habit is playing dumb puzzle games when I’m watching TV). Overall, WELL worth the 99p 💯
