  • Saved my sanity

I don’t usually write reviews but this app literally saved my life. I never go on any short form content apps anymore unless completely needed, I now have time to do stuff I really enjoy.
  • Love this app!

This is helping me a lot with being more mindful of my social media usage. I find it a lot more effective than the time limit control.
  • Just try it!

I was skeptical but, the app was free so I gave it a shot. After an adjustment period where I kept being SUPER annoyed & changing settings constantly, it high key started to work. In fact it worked so well I went from wasting at my peak 8 hours of my life on an app I felt trapped on to deleting Instagram after nearly 12 years of almost daily use. I’ve now re-downloaded Instagram with little to no restrictions placed on it & I still don’t want to use it anymore.

Yes it took awhile, for me it was about 9 months. I upgraded to premium maybe 4 months in to utilize the “re-interventions” feature, this isn’t a quick fix but, trust me the constant interruptions are training your brain no matter how you respond to them. I even found what many are saying is a “glitch” where the intervention takes 5 seconds to pop-up letting you catch a glimpse of the app you’re trying to open was good because usually, the dumb reel I suffered through the intervention to see wasn’t worth it & I started hating social media for that!

I also appreciate that the updates they post explain bug fixes in plain language & the instructions for how to set up interventions are similar. The app has no forced ads that are bothersome, except for their paywall and it doesn’t limit the usefulness of the app it just kind of limits how many tools you can utilize & is slightly annoying to exit out of which I found to be pretty reasonable. I was even offered a discount when I did finally get premium, which was great. Its refreshing to finally have an app that seems like it’s trying to actually provide a helpful service first & foremost, instead of focusing mostly on being profitable to the detriment of the user.

So yeah thanks to the whole app team ya’ll are doing a great thing (& your marketing clearly isn’t too shabby either), so far I have regained about 4.8 weeks of my life thanks to you & the power of annoyance.

  • Gotta close the app

If u don’t close the app it doesn’t work
  • Wonderfully annoying

This is the only thing that keeps me off my phone at work. I’ve gone from opening instagram 80+ times a day down to 12.
  • So useful and easy to use

I love one sec, I have it on my phone and my laptop, its just so useful! I love that it doesn't fully lock my device, just forces me to pause before mindlessly scrolling; it makes me reflect on whether thats what I really want to do without restricting me from accessing apps if I really need to use them. Definitely recommend, as its free and easy, and on your phone the paid version is not necessary, but if you do get it it is affordable and adds some cool extra features (but again, not ecessary). I love one sec, its just such a perfect app that gives you extra super-customisable features that Apple's "Screen Time" just does not have. Worth a try if you're on the fence, and they have heaps of really clear tutorials on how to set it up.

  • Great

    Yes it is helping me
  • Almost perfect

Honestly this app is great. It’s super easy to use and not too complicated to set up. It can feel weird adjusting to the countdowns when opening apps but it’s very helpful if you stick with it. Everything works smoothly and I haven’t encountered any bugs at all.

My only suggestion would be some kind of app deletion block, like during certain hours prevent the app from being uninstalled, as other screen time controllers have this feature. However this is a minor thing.

All around a great app, deserves more support and use!

  • Too slow to trigger automation

I love the idea of this app, but it just doesn’t work as intended. I have the free version set up with Instagram, and it lets me have Instagram open for roughly 2-5 seconds before it pops up with the breathing intervention. This defeats the whole point as then I’ve already got a glimpse of things I want to continue looking at, and it’s annoyed the heck out of me by jolting me back and forth. Very frustrating.

  • Effective way to disrupt mindless habits

one sec has been a very effective way to disrupt my mindless digital habits in a way that gives me control over my own choices and guides me to better digital behavioural patterns. This is as opposed to Apps that lock you out completely (which have their place but can be a bit of a blunt tool to change behaviour).

I had some technical issues and the support team were very helpful (shoutout to Nil!).
