Do not use. This is not worth purchasing. GVB pass does not get you around Amsterdam.
Not good for tourists
The app works and all but the 3 days pass gives you a QR code that you can’t save in iPhone wallet, you have to go in the app each time, and when you want to get it scanned in tram the phone detects that you want to make a payment, so removes the QR code and presents Apple Pay instead. This needs to be rethought so it’s easier to use with phones…

Invalid tickets
I purchased two tickets for Van Gogh museum via GVB website. The tickets were declared invalid when presented to the museum and possibly a scam. Very disappointed and out of pocket
Don’t do it if you’re getting reimbursed or buying tickets for more than yourself!
Getting a receipt is impossible on the app. And very stupidly and abusively, you have to always travel with the person for whom you bought the ticket. This is the worst public transport app ever. Do better, NL and Amsterdam!
Doesn’t work
Barcode never works - no one attending metro stations so you are left standing like an idiot trying to scan your code.
When I asked for assistance I was told to walk across the city to centraal station to exchange my ticket for a physical ticket. Ridiculous and rubbish. Buy the physical ticket instead

We used in May, 2024 and had no problems.

Great app, helped us navigate our way around Amsterdam.
We purchased a week GVB travel pass and it was very easy to navigate. It even sends you to Google maps when you need to walk between different stations

i was very anxious to be coming to amsterdam with the public transport however this app was really helpful in allowing me to find where to go without trouble.
when you want to go somewhere it tells you how far to walk to a station and how long it will take on the transport and then how far to walk to your destination. very easy to use.
