Just terrible

Do not recommend this app or company. The website and app is slow, clunky, doesn’t function properly and communicate well with each other, the user interface is shoddy and cheap and everything takes forever to process. Hate it and everything about it. I unfortunately used it when I first started investing but moved swiftly over to Interactive Brokers which is miles and miles apart from this crappy company. Can’t wait to phase out my holdings from this company and be done with it.

I want to support these guys I really do but the app is still awful. The clearance times for cash are ridiculous. For example I accidentally sent cash to my self wealth account on Saturday. It should take exactly 0 seconds for me to transfer that cash back out once it arrives. It’s now Wednesday afternoon and I still can’t get my cash back out. Also, the delays to send cash to USD and buy and sell US shares are so slow I can’t trust it to be off any use.
It’s also frustrating that any stop loss has an expiry when it’s a critical necessity to limit losses eternally.
Id gladly update this review in the future if the above things improve.

Terrible layout, terrible content

I don’t find this app intuitive, it has metrics I don’t care about (daily performance? What am I, a day trader?) and compares to market…which market? I have a diversified portfolio of international ETFs, what are you comparing to? Over what period?

I’m not interested in my “wealth score” or “safety score”. You have no clue what my goals and objectives are, so trying to influence my decision making through these “metrics” is stupid.

How about you present my portfolio, allow me to choose what I compare to and over the time period I want…maybe you could put things like account details somewhere I could find them…

This app is awful, I’m only using it because my SMSF links to it and I’m hoping I can ignore this garbage going forward…

Good improvements

I use the app as a backup to desktop trading. Used to have lots of issues with logging in and reauthenticating but these issues now seem to be solved. Great platform and getting better as time goes on, keep up the good work guys

Day Only Expiry?

The app is rubbish. I use the website almost exclusively and the app as a last resort/when away from computer to check. But why is the only order expiry option ‘Day Only’??? That’s crazy. And when editing an existing order placed via the website with a future date, editing via the app changes the expiry to Day Only!! The last update was fun too…had to setup whole app again from scratch like I downloaded for first time…password, PIN and touch.

Hello? Is anyone home?

Come on team - the app doesn’t even open and this has been going on for many many months. Once you log in, it immediately crashes… this is not an isolated issue! It’s commonly discussed in forums and clearly here, given the reviews here. I’d expect an issue like this to last 1-2 days and have a patch roll back and urgent dev fix… how has this been ongoing for months? It’s embarrassing.

EDIT: Are you seriously asking me to email you with details of your global app outage? - Can you and your colleagues access the app?

going downhill

When I first downloaded this app it pretty much ticked all the boxes for me. The major revamp was bad enough, so much user friendly functionality lost. The latest update with new login protocols is plain ridiculous. Can’t log in on the app but still can on the website. The app just keeps recycling back to the start. Seems I’m not the only long term user who’s unimpressed either. Guess I’ll be researching a replacement on my days off.

Bad colour scheme

The latest update of the app has a new visual design, which seems like a step backwards from the previous one. While some parts are arguably too bold (e.g. the solid black background header section), other parts lack the contrast required to quickly process information. Previously it was very obvious from the red and green, which of my holdings were up or down, but now the colours stand out less and the green is almost the same as the black used for all the other text.
Also, once you scroll down a bit, the apple status bar goes white on white and you can’t read time/signal/battery at all.

I really like Self Wealth but as many have said the app is very ordinary

I find it incredibly difficult to undertake very basic tasks such as viewing my portfolio. The new and improved app which replaced the original one a few years ago has never really improved. Still no HK market support on the app either. I might take a look at stake as they seem to be the peoples choice at the moment
