There is no option to remove bird sound, despite it saying so in the description? Also, does the app need to opened or just on in the background to work?

There’s a bird icon at the top — after you start the alarm. Unfortunately, the app needs to kept open in the foreground to work. This is a reasonable iOS restriction — apps can’t unlock the phone on threir behalf.

This app is laughable bad. It doesn't even work unless the app is held open. It doesn't go off if your phone is locked. Useless as an alarm.
Great app, needs a few enhancements to be over the top
I echo the previous comments. Great design. Minimal steps needed to set. Goes totally dark upon setting, which is a huge plus.
But.... Add two things: 1. Menu of sounds, and 2. Light control for fades and brightness.
I also would gladly pay for these features.

Effectively Simple
Great simple app, only thing it is missing is the ability to change how long the transition takes turn on as it is too quick. Otherwise excellent
Almost there...
I love the concept of this app. And it's a nice alternative to getting a sunlight alarm. But if it's possible to have the screen off and the phone locked but with the app still active, that would be perfect. The UI isn't as easy to understand at first so a little "help" icon with a pop up window of basic instructions on how to use the app would be nice. I have not been successful on using this app because I don't want my phone to stay plugged to the charger overnight. But yes. I am looking forward to an improved version of this app.

Works only sporadically- exactly the WRONG quality for an alarm clock.
Great app, slightly glitchy
I loved this app up to last update. It works well to add sound and light to my room and ease me out of sleep without the jar of an alarm. Since last update it will close while I sleep and cancel the alarm. I do wish that it did not have to be open to run, but it does do a great job of waking me up when it does not cancel the alarm. Just a glitch with the update it seems.

Should be fixed in the last update! Unfortunately, it needs to be open in foreground to work — this is iOS limitation.
Perfect! Great sunrise alarm clock
I’ve been using it for about a week and it’s been fantastic. Something I really look for in sunrise clocks is a very dim starting light - something that won’t wake you, because otherwise you won’t get the nice slow wake up. The light transition is great, and the bird song absolutely helps; I didn’t think I’d want any sound but actually it helps a lot. I’m successfully waking at 6am not groggy and it means I can start my postgrad study prior to work in the morning so I can achieve everything in my day.
Thank you for such a fantastic free app, it’s improved the quality of my life in the mornings :)
My only improvement suggestions would be for the ability for it to run in the background or from a Lock Screen but I under that would be difficult/impossible as the app would have to unlock the phone I guess. Not a developer so that’s why I might not understand the limits of these things :)

Thank you for feedback! Yes, it’s the iOS restriction — apps can’t unlock device on their own, so Light Alarm must be in the foreground to work.
