  • Loads of Fun But Could Use Tweaks

I’ve played this game for many weeks, and I have to say it has a hard learning curve. There was a lack of direction at first and I wasn’t sure what some of the various stats of my characters actually accomplished. After trial and error, however, I began to find my success with the game, and grew a sudden appreciation for the challenge. It took time, but I got there.

I enjoy the game for its simple complexity and its progression. The concept is fun and engaging. The moments I have where something clicks and I find ways to advance my company’s progress is exciting to experience. I just wish there were better instructions about the game. Sometimes I wish I could click on character stats and get details about it, or understand if some of the job titles of characters matter at times or not (for example, I have characters who have higher stats in sound than my sound engineer. Does them being a sound engineer carry more weight than the fact that their stat is lower? If not, should it?). I know there is a ‘manual’, but it’s 29 pages of short messages. Kind of clunky and vague at times because of the format.

Overall, the game is fun, but can be challenging at first. Don’t give up, and try not to browse the web for quick answers. Makes the grind worth it.

  • Solid Fun Game been playing for hours

The game is fun and casual. I work at a software company so this is an entertaining simulation on running a gaming studio. I hope they continue to build out the game. They could add a lot more such as M&E and the pros and cons that go with it. Decision to go public or entertain a VC to raise more capital and how much of your business you trade away. More types of technical talent such as a product engineer which could decrease the amount of bugs and improve the fun factor etc.

Overall great game and hope to see t it continue to develop.

  • Great game worth a play through!

I have been addicted to this game for a while now, just won a GOTY (game of the year) while playing! I just wish there was a little more content as it can get a little repetitive towards the end of the game(around year 16) also there are a lot of hidden stats and caps on employees I wish I could see better so I knew how to maximize my profits even more! Thankfully there is a wiki and more online to try to help with that but overall it’s a very simple game but can get equally complex the more you play and try to get everything in the game. Definitely worth a play through at least once to the 20 year mark but I’ve been replaying it a lot just to try to get my achievements and secret characters!

  • Pretty good with little complaint.

This game has been a good way to kill time. It is enjoyable even if a bit repetitious. The concept and execution are wonderfully done for a simple sim game, although I would have appreciated a better explanation of the stats/jobs. I appreciate the silly names for about everything from your employees to the gaming industry products. The release of consoles in game feels like a pretty good reflection of what we had in reality from the PC through some VR game systems. I even felt a bit of reality nudge when making games for systems whose real world analog failed. Not sure if it’s on purpose but when changing jobs the game won’t let me chose certain options, even when the character already has the job available. The same people always show up for interviews. I wouldn’t call them complaints but my only issue was with the game leaving you questionable options from hiring “booth babes” to being able to make games like “dating shooter”. A tiny bit of thought there wouldn’t hurt. Overall I’ll keep it on my phone to play more.

  • Short and Awesome

I’m not going to write a long reviews as I usually never leave one and it is to much work. However this game blew me away with the mechanics and how everything is run in the game. It is built beautifully so you could play over time and enjoy it. Or personally someone like me have been grinding to get the best scores for myself and trying out different combinations. I don’t even play app games much anymore, but this game got me hooked. I feel like there are always changes in the game depending on how you make decisions with your own money and that was cool. 5/5 game download it believe me.

  • This is AWESOME!

You must get this game so much! I have always liked, to think, about myself developing video games, and I was searching through Apple Arcade, when I was bored, and I saw this game, looked at the rating and review, is said “ok, let’s try this game”. And when I played this game, at first I was confused, but then I got better, the problem is sometime it never saves your progress, which was sad 😢, but I just started over. I don’t know where to find an engineer, and I looked through the whole hiring things, but couldn’t find one. Thanks for this game. CorriganPlayz In geometry dash, my account name is Carnado! Bye!

  • Great game if your busy but want to be able to not fall behind

Time management is great, whenever you look away it practically pauses for you by someone approaching your desk to notify you of the develpoment, as soon as you pay more attention to hiring good employees for each role and choosing which sections to focus your money in ( scenario writers and graphic writers help a lot early on) for the maximum returns the game speeds up a lot. I recommend getting the best employees early on. It feels like all the good talent disappears or i got them all. Im still not sure. Hackers are goat.

Tldr: game will pause often so if your busy it wont leave you behind. Take your time and just spend your money on good employees early, its worth more than spending on game design early. Free employees pump out gold too.

  • This game is great. But I’ve encountered a bug.

Okay, so first things first, this game is awesome. I enjoy the art and the concept. I am addicted and I love your company. But, I’ve found a bug that makes my experience frustrating.

So, I constantly save my progress, so I don’t have to start all over, right? And every time I decide to close the app, I make sure to save my game, and everything’s fine after that. But after I open the app to play again, I click “continue” and I click my save that I’ve saved earlier, and I’m back at the original office! This has happened 5 times, and each time I start over and say, “It’ll be fine, I’m a master of this game”. But this is time I was frustrated. I had hired a hacker, had 30 million in the bank, I had upgraded to the biggest office you can get, and I was working on my own console! All my other games I had saved didn’t get this far, and I was very disappointed in your game after I’ve been playing it for a year and had a nice experience.

Yes, the app is updated to its most recent version, and my device is too. Please fix this bug so I can continue enjoying your app. Thank you.

  • Amazing

This game truly is awesome I love the simple
Play style and catchy tunes. Only thing I have against it is once you kinda break that ground in becoming a mogul I’m the industry there really is no point in playing unless you want to take that best game of the year award which for me took almost 22 years, 38 games and 20+ hall of fame games. While it was enjoyable getting there, I would suggest having more stuff to buy, upgrades to the office using your capitol, bigger offices past the third office, and finally more opportunity to hire

  • I think that this game is completely worth it

I have Apple Arcade because my family needed more iCloud storage, this was a benefit. I started looking at the games and I saw Game Dev Story, I have played games like Stardew valley in the past, this game’s graphics are similar. After downloading I could tell that this game was one that I would enjoy playing, and I have played it for around a month now. It’s a great game to play because of the lack of in-app purchases, if you’re like me and you are exploring Apple Arcade, this game is fun to play “and I have recommended it to all my coworkers”
    That’s all
