  • Great up to a certain point

The game is really challenging and addicting at first. However, once you create your first ‘Hall Of Fame’ game, basically every game after that will be in the HoF, and it’s not difficult to create a smash hit anymore. Also, money really becomes no object once you reach a certain level of success as well. So the game kind of gets to this plateau where there is no challenge anymore. For me that only took about 3 hours of play. It’s disappointing because the game is incredible and really fun, but I just wish that it were expanded more so that it continues to be a challenge as you gain more and more success. Also, I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to beat the game, like to win the grand prize at the awards. I’ve had over 10 games that were a perfect 40 rating and I still never win. Maybe the game developers will see this review and add onto the game to extend the fun!

  • Best game simulator i have every played

Ive been known about this game since i was in high school and was always into it. I took time off playing every once in a while of time however its only because of the different devices i had this game on. I love the creativity the creators put into this game and also let us be wild running through our individuality in this game to make all types of video games. The best portable game ive ever played and its so addicting, i love it man. Thank you for creating such an amazing piece of art and history.

  • This game is actually really fun

This game is actually really fun and actually kind of thought provoking. I’ve been played for the past few days and I have a hard time putting it down. It is fast paced and always presents a good challenge. I hope the devs aren’t done with this game and continue to make it better. Also maybe leave a few bits of information to help show what certain perks do. I have good characters with job types but some work better than others who should do “better”. Besides that if you want a fun game to keep you entertained through the boring parts of the day I defiantly recommend this!!

  • Slow Start but Good

Game is really slow at beginning as you start out as a nobody studio. I even had to dig into emergency funds at one point as I went negative. However few years after I started progressively making more money and I just managed to get all the good awards (there is an award for having the worse game and there’s a penalty for it) across the board at the 20th game award show.

Once you get high enough you can make sequels to your games (they have to be Hall of Fame games to make a sequel) and even make your own console. I haven’t gotten to point of being able to make consoles yet as I can’t seem to find any hardware engineers to hire. I’d imagine this would be huge money as you no longer have to pay to license with another studios system. Instead they’ll have to pay you to make games on your system. Not sure how console creation works but hopefully it allows customization. I’ll try to remember to update review once I reach that point

All in all I recommend trying the game out and getting past the beginning as that’s where the fun begins.

  • Not as good as Game Dev Tycoon

They clearly took this idea from Game Dev Tycoon, so I’m a little confused as to why they would go out of their way to make it worse. It’s still a fun game, but they simplified the graphics, reduced the amount of consoles (doesn’t even reach the PlayStation 3), and made it too expensive to get a decent start. Not to mention its incompleteness; you need a hardware engineer to develop your own console, but apparently no characters in the game have that title, and it’s not even an option when using the job change item. Though this game is still somewhat fun, it’s an insult to Game Dev Tycoon and its creator. Shame on you!
I truly expect much much better from Apple Arcade.
If I have to witness another travesty like this… I’m cancelling my subscription, and convincing all my friends and family to do so as well.

  • Fun and relaxing!

It’s a really fun game I like the idea, and the game play is very simple which is nice for relaxing. It did take me a little while to fully understand how to play, and I do wish there was a way for the workers to level up on their own. Say like with experience as in the longer they work the the more points they get.
The only other thing I am saddened by is that there’s no way to specifically buy the bonuses, and even if you don’t buy anything the prices still go up. Even though it says the price only increases when you buy them.

Overall all though I think given the simplicity of the game it’s really fun, and I’ve found it to be very addictive! I can’t wait to see what this game has in store for updates!

  • Great Game, Annoying Sounds

So I love the concept here. And for the most part, it’s fleshed out pretty brilliantly. The 16-bit style of art feels right at home in this business simulator. Most of the writing seems on point- though I did notice some glaring errors. I would recommend hiring a native speaker or somebody that has a degree in English to really polish off the text portion of the game.

The music is high in quality, but low in content. I’d recommend crafting a better soundtrack, but the ability to mute it and play my own music while the game runs kind of makes it a moot point.

Beyond that, the only gripe I have it with the achievement sound. Every time you accomplish ANYTHING- from completing a new game to having an article written about your company, there’s a Legend-of-Zelda-esque music byte that plays for about 10 seconds. The first 10 or so times it’s fine, but after that it gets to be SO annoying. Please change or shorten this sound, devs.

All in all, great game! Thanks for making it!

  • Game company wannabe

This is one of those games that can be idle addictive, but then again it isn’t. When I first started playing it was difficult figuring out the combinations needed to be successful. Once you understand how to play and what the milestones are, it is even better. One thing I still haven’t been able to do is acquire a hardware engineer and make a console. That is next on my list. Super fun and pretty addictive. Definitely looking forward more strategy resource games from this studio.

  • Awesome game! But a bit outdated

I really enjoy game dev games, and have played a few so far. Although this game was amazing and addictive, it was a tid bit outdated and unrealistic. The game genres sometimes didnt match up even tho it should. Such as mixing dungeon and adventure together into a game; this has always been a famous game genre, yet the game always says this was not a good combination like what?

The prices to buy licenses to produce for a new console were wayyyy too expensive. By the time I could afford making games for the cheapest console, 6 different new gens had already been released. And it doesent matter how well you make a game in the beginning, it will always be a trash game until you make a perfect game by todays standards.

This is overall still a really amazing game with just a fee annoyances. Although there are better dev games out there, this one I Highly recommand!

  • Very well made. Has a throwback NES feel

I really enjoy this game. I have run through twice to the 20 year mark and continued to a new game. Being a gamer for about 30 years I’ve seen the video game world develop from the ground up. This reminds me of so many classic NES games. From the graphics to the soundtrack. It is laid out very well and it’s a lot of fun to develop the games, boost them, and try to get to the highest development level. Very well created. I won’t be putting this one down for awhile!
