Max Hydration for Max Performance
Max Hydrate optimizes your personal hydration algorithm—weight, intensity, heat, humidity, electrolytes, post workout—so you can achieve your peak athletic performance.
Being dehydrated by just 2% of your body weight can reduce your performance by up to 10%. That can be the difference between winning and losing.
The idea behind Max Hydrate is that there’s an algorithm for optimal hydration you can tune to achieve your best athletic performance.
Most athletes only drink back 50% of the fluids they lose during exercise. That's suboptimal for achieving your highest level of performance during an event. You'll also be dehydrated after a workout which sets you up to perform even worse next time.
By staying hydrated you can perform your best when it matters the most. How do you stay hydrated?
There are four rules for creating your personal optimal hydration algorithm:
1. Figure Out What to Drink
2. Start Each Day Hydrated
3. Stay Hydrated During Exercise
4. Fully Replenish Fluids Lost During Exercise
Figure Out What to Drink
Everyone is different. You need to figure out what you should drink to replenish the sweat lost during exercise. The Sweat Profile to help you figure out what type of sweater you are. The Sports Drink tool to help you figure out exactly what you should drink to replace your sweat.
Start Each Day Hydrated
Drink a big glass of water every morning. Then use the Morning Check tool every morning to see if you're drinking enough water. How much water should you be drinking each day? That’s where the Daily Needs tool comes in.
Stay Hydrated During Exercise
Just drinking when thirsty isn't good enough.
Thirst keeps you hydrated during normal everyday life, but thirst during exercise is a poor indicator of hydration. In general, thirst is not perceived until you've lost approximately 2% of your body weight in sweat. That's too late. The damage has already been done. The race is lost.
For peak performance before every workout use the Start Workout tool to keep hydrated during a workout. Start Workout will:
1. Calculate how much you should drink every 15 minutes during your workout. The calculations are based on current conditions and your sweat profile.
2. Prompt you every 15 minutes to drink. Otherwise it's unlikely you would drink enough to keep hydrated. That's important because people sweat a lot more than they think. With the prompt you won't forget.
Fully Replenish Fluids Lost During Exercise
After your workout Max Hydrate calculates how much you should drink to replenish all the fluids you've lost.
By using Max Hydrate to follow this daily loop of starting the day hydrated; staying hydrated during exercise; replenishing fluids lost during exercise; you're giving yourself the best chance of always performing at your best at whatever activity you do.
