Loved This App!
We are from Hawaii and moved to the mainland a few years back. My daughters boyfriend made this last trip to Hawaii with us. We wanted to do the Circle Tour and just happened to stumble on this app. Since we would have a car, I decided to try out this app. I’m so glad I did. We went to places we never even knew about! The beauty of it…. It was at our pace. The app is easy to use and the narrative in between stops is great (and entertaining). We even learned a few things. Bottom line… don’t pay $100 for a tour… use this app! You won’t regret it!

Shaka Guide doesn’t miss
Was really excited to try Shaka Guide in Zion National Park after having used this on Oahu a while back. They nailed it. The historical and geographical teachings were very interesting and informative, and the narration is a lot of fun for folks of all ages. While the tours are live, the app’s GPS tracks your progress incredibly accurately (down to the turn, fork, stop, etc in the road) to queue up and deliver more fun and interesting content. Recommend spending a little time familiarizing yourself with the app and how the tours work (especially as it relates to the map of wherever you are) before hitting the road. Shaka Guide’s UI is fantastic. No ads. No bugs. Well done to the team. What a blast this is!

Worth it!
I bought the National Volcanoes Park tour for the big island of Hawaii. I was a little reluctant when I saw the price for this tour, but my friend swore that I’d be grateful if I bought it. She was right! As we drove along, the guide gave directions and suggestions for stops but also let us know if it was highly recommended to stop or just “ok.” He also shared factoids which gave us something to look for when we explored the area. Something else I appreciated was being able to listen to the information versus reading it along the way because it allowed me to see the views. In all, I highly recommend this app!

Great addition to our trip!
This app was incredible and was perfectly timed as we drove around the Island. We enjoyed several stops we would never have known to explore. The app will need some updates for volcano national park because of a few changes with 2018 lava flows but otherwise it was very informative! We used it with GPS when we were following the routes and off GPS when we went our own way both worked great. It might be nice to have an option to turn off background music on occasion but it was nice music most of the time. Overall greatly enhances our experience of the Big Island!

Shaka Guide Me Everywhere
Shaka Guide tour of Hawaii Big Island is absolute fantastic. It has a wonderful selection sites, activities, restaurants, and stories. The stories of Pele were our favorite - they left me, my husband, and my boys ( 11 and 10) wanting to learn more. The sync with GPS location was flawless. And the selection of Hawaiian music between history and descriptions of points of interest was such lovely driving music. We started off by downloading only one road-trip and ended up purchasing the bundle for all the trips. If we return to Hawaii we will definitely use this guide for the other islands. We really hope they expand to other tours sites around the world. Well done. Please, take us everywhere!

A MUST get app
We just came back from Maui and the big island. Shaka did a great job guiding us in road to Hana, Haleakala, west coast Maui, and volcano park. We purchased a bundle in Maui and it definitely worth the price. It tells you where to stop and where to park. There are no signs of what the scenes are or the signs are too small to past quickly when you are driving. Shaka helps a lot avoid missing those wonderful views! There are also Hawaii musics and stories between the stops during driving. I will definitely come to Shaka to search guidance for our next trip!

Way better than a tour bus!
Doing a Shaka guided self drive tour was way better than going on a tour bus! We did the grand circle island tour, the app gives you plenty of heads up for potential places to stop. Driving along were given plenty of information on the area & attractions. Make sure you go on this tour with an empty stomach as it have a lot of places to stop for food!

MUST GET & start EARLY!
I’m in Hawaii right now & bought the Big Island bundle. BEST DECISION. I didn’t want to pay a tour company & be tied to a group. We absolutely LOVE this! The invaluable info, the cultural history & tales are amazing! We’ve done Volcano Nat. Park & today did North Jungle loop! SO MANY GREAT STOPS! Tomorrow Backcountry one. SO MUCH TO SEE ON THESE TOURS! Love how he puts things in contexts, heads ups, tidbits of imp info, and the music etc. We just kept saying during our whole tour how much we loved this. Great job Shaka!
Update! We did Volcano again for the Tubes. We played the tour again and loved it! ALSO DEFINITELY download the trip you are taking for the day and read the before you go portion. Helped immensely. We loved how in many places cell service was obsolete on the island😭. We realized how we would’ve been LOST if we’d used Google maps etc. Shaka was our only way to return back to main roads. As corny as this sounds this gentleman was our friend and we grew to love him 😂. He talked us through literally 10 hours each day of sightseeing. So START EARLY so you can squeeze most of the points of interest in!

This is the Lamborghini of all tours! If you want a best friend from the island that you never had in your car, talking you through every turn and recommending the best food and views of your life, then don’t hesitate and purchase this tour!! If you want to drive in a broke down pinto, fighting with your car mates over what to do next or where to stop and second guess the island then suite yourself. Having been to Maui before- this is a must to enjoy the island AND get historical background played for you as you drive. Plus, the music is amaze-balls!
