  • More than just a waifu gacha

I’m gonna be honest, this game is NOT what it looks like at first glance. One might expect copious amounts of fan service, some rudimentary story mode or daily challenges, and a heavy emphasis on getting the player to spend money. Nikke does the first one admittedly, but the rest completely outshines anything on the market. Each Nikke has their own personality and story, feeling unique but believable, like they could be real people with real lives. I’m not even done with the story and I’ve been playing for a YEAR, that’s at least an hour a day for 330-some days, skipping any breaks I might’ve taken. The breadth and depth of the story feels like something you’d find on console or PC title that costs MONEY. There’s so many little events and side modes to play, it’s pretty much impossible to find yourself bored with the game. My only comment is on the luck system with gacha pulling. It’s MERCILESS. You can save up for two premium even ten-draws and come up with nothing, it’s ruthless and my only gripe about this game, especially as a free-to-play user. Speaking of f2p, one thing that startled me about the game is its lack of ads. Not that I expected any, but a game this fleshed-out and, well, just GOOD, seems too good to make its money back through gacha and IAP alone, so I’m surprised there’s no ads hidden somewhere. In the end, good stuff, I’d definitely recommend you download.

  • Been playing since launch.

Nikke is when you combine Time Crisis, Terminators, and Gacha. It definitely rewards you more than most Gacha’s too for dailies and weeklies honestly, but there is genuinely a lot to do when you are farther in. It is definitely a “fan service” game, but the story, lore, characters, and game play are all worth it themselves. If you aren’t the type for repetitive “dailies” and stuff, it’s probably not meant for you for the long run, but the beginning is just so easy and fun to experience with multiple different bosses, you just gotta at least try it to experience it. Though being new means you won’t be strong enough to do the new event all the way through every 2-4 weeks. The developers really listen to the community too. We have votes for concept art of skins to release new designs, they give out surveys quite often enough to listen to willing participants to fill it out, and they release video online with similar “VTuber” models for the voice actors to announce fun animated events online while giving out free paid rewards. The game is extremely fun if your willing to dedicate yourself to this gacha and the characters all have their fun quirks and personalities that make them feel really original.

  • You will get bored in a week

At first the game is super fun and intriguing, you get pulls, your team set up and then start the grind. I got lost in the story, the art is amazing, the progression of leveling becomes addictive. I’m currently about 1 week into the game and it has became a task more than fun to do in your downtime. I just log in a 3pm everyday do mindless tasks over and over (side note please make the simulation room more automated, no one wants to do the same 50 battles every day for skill books.) then I gather my little bit of resources maybe do 5-8 pulls and maybe progress 3-4 battles in the campaign. It’s just mind numbing and boring now. Also I’m hitting the dreaded core dust walls (that no one likes btw). I’ve done the math and I have to wait over 4 days to even get past my new level wall with core dust (without opening your wallet of course) also, on that topic I don’t mind giving devs of games their earned money, I’ve dropped easily $500 on this game in a week and would be willing to give more if I actually maintained interest. I saw that and decided to just play another game. If I log onto a game, I want to actually play and progress more than a centimeter a day and spend less than 30 minutes doing it. The game has massive potential, but it’s needs to be a bit more forgiving and actually allow their player to progress.

  • Game has improved

At first the game was not in a very good state with a massive power spike requirement to play the campaign as well as the whole censorship controversy with characters designs. After some time has passed the Devs have slowly been improving the game and bringing changes such as lowering the required power to play missions and improvements to game systems as well as some pretty banger in game events. Also releasing new characters with some great designs and some character with designs that go with a bit what they originally promised and have a good amount of fan service. There was even generous rewards for players during the anniversary event as well as a buff to some characters and constant surveys the devs put out in order to get player feedback (in which player feedback is actually taken into account for the game’s improvement). Nikke still needs a couple of improvement for example there is no spacing between in game events so it kinda feels fast paced and some new characters gets released with subpar kits. Overall that’s about all I can say. Be warned this game is still with Level infinite/Tencent and could possibly have control over some decisions so any bad decisions made for the game look towards them not Shift Up.

Character designs have changed over the game's development, and some may differ when compared to older material. The changes were made based on the art direction of the team, not because of censorship, the art seen on release is the characters' latest design. Thank you for your understanding and support of GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE

Nikke is in a good place compared to before and players appreciate all that has been done which results in continued support and revenue from fans and here’s hoping it stays that way for the foreseeable future but still be cautious because Tencent/Level Infinite can ruin this game with bad decisions out of Shift Up’s control.

  • Favorite Game

Dear Level Infinite/Shift Up, or any developer seeing this. This has been my favorite game to play over the past year and it has amazed me how much this game has come since. I still remember my first day playing and how heartbreaking it was watching Marian die. I’ve only ever had one issue with this game, and that’s my gacha luck, I almost never get legendaries and missed out on A2 from the NieR crossover because it took 50 draws just to get 2B. I’ve also have only gotten Modernia once out of 2,600 draws, with over 100 on her banners total. My commander name is SHARKY and have been here since day 1. I never even thought of getting the game until my mind switched one day and was like why not pre-order it since this was when it was advertised everywhere before release. Even though I’m only on chapter 20, or so just about to start it, I still love how the main story is revolved around Marian/Modernia since the events of Marian drove the commander to defend Nikkes. It would be fun to see on either the 1.5 year anniversary or 2 year anniversary, another costume poll with “Marian” as the costume for “Modernia.” I’ve also have been collecting relics in real life to represent Marian since she is my favorite character in the game even though she was only alive for 2 chapters.

Keep up the good work development team, and I can’t wait to see how the game turns out in the future! 😊

  • More than just Fanservice

I think a lot of people initially came in for the fanservice and the “physics”, but ended up staying for the gameplay and story. I’m not typically a gacha game player but NIKKE has been the exception for me. So much so I’ve been logging in to do dailies and whatnot for over a year straight. I was there on launch. I think the music, lore, characters, and the story are underrated considering this is a mobile game. I hope one day there could be a spin-off or something that’s an actual game sort of like how Granblue has a fighting game and then Relink an action rpg coming out soon. NIKKE’s base lore and dystopian setting would make for a great standalone game if the creators/devs got the opportunity to do so. Also forgot to mention but I have not spent a dime on this. I was once tempted at the beginning but have stayed tried in true being a free-to-play player and have enjoyed my experience. This is the only mobile game I play too. There’s enough resources from dailies and weeklies if you’re smart about pulling and etc you can enjoy this as a waifu collecting game. Lastly the seasonal/new banner events are pretty good too. Would recommend.

  • Best game ever

So honestly been playing the game since it first released. It is by far one of the most fun and addicting games I’ve played in a while. The graphics are amazing, the storyline is so captivating that it keeps you on your toes wanting to see what happens next. The side quests are funny. The events that the developers have released are intense with suspense of what will happen next. Stories that connect every NIKKE without fully revealing the story. The character design is on peak and the available costumes are amazing. Being able to interact with the NIKKEs is very intriguing and definitely seeing their individual story as you progress your intimacy level is fun also. I would recommend to the developers to add Marians OG costume as an option hopefully in the future. I honestly cannot wait for this upcoming year. The winter event is captivating as it is and I honestly recommend this game to anyone who wants to experience the fun and dynamic gameplay. Not only beautiful NIKKEs to be able to collect and take command in the field but also the amazing graphics, the storyline which just captivates you from the very beginning and even customizable main menu with different in-game music and backgrounds just gives the player more control. Truly an amazing game. And to top it off it is also available to play on laptops! (Not Macs unfortunately) I do own a Mac so I hope the developers are able to make it available there too!

  • Solid Gameplay, decent Gacha system and lackluster performance optimization.

The gameplay although really basic, sort of lends itself to actually having to think about weapon types and character utility. That would be amazing if the Gacha system had some sort of Pity System though, from what I understand you aren’t guaranteed any of the highest tier units in Summons, which isn’t ideal imo. I am free to play however some of the content in the game is super difficult for me simply because I don’t have a character that’s really good at something the few teams I have simply aren’t, or are vulnerable to because the team is really good at another thing; I have a team that has high levels of healing output but the team struggles because there isn’t enough dps or I have a team that does really good dps but there’s a lack of defense or support/healing as a result. And the game’s performance is awful honestly. I am on an XS, however I play at the lowest settings and the phone doesn’t get crazy hot actually, Genshin Impact for example actually runs cooler and more consistently at the lowest graphics settings and I feel like that shouldn’t be.

  • Okay, what!?

I don’t usually write reviews but I figured this game deserves it. At first I wasn’t really interested in this game as it didn’t look like it would appeal to me, I don’t think I need to explain why. However after getting ad after ad about the game I figured I’d give it a shot. At first I really didn’t enjoy it, the combat is fun and unique, but the character design just really isn’t my thing. BUT after a couple of chapter the game REALLY takes off, some of these boss fights are absolutely insane, and the MUSIC the music is TOP NOTCH. There’s this one level where you’ve been tracking through the snow for hours to find this big snow base, BUT THEN the snow base turns into an enormous enemy, and this freaking sick boss music starts playing to the rhythm of the phase of the boss. Honestly when this game wants to go hard, it goes hard. I just wish it didn’t constantly throw scantly dressed women in your face, and offered characters that can appeal to a wider variety of players. If this game did that, I feel like it would completely destroy the top charts. Nonetheless, so far this game has created some of the most memorable moments in mobile games for me, and I’m completely shocked that the combat is as smooth and fun as it is. Would highly recommend, even if I’m not a fan of the characters. Though, the enemy character design is top notch.
