Despite reporting to Fuji this app still has a bug

I have discovered a bug with this app in regards to time. Where it will set the time 18hours ahead no matter what I do as soon as I connect the camera to the phone. I have reported this to Fuji via email a few version ago now. Through a reddit post the is bug appears to only affect people in a time zone which falls on a half increment. This highly disappointing.

This app needs to recognise older firmware versions.

Could not get this app to pair with my new X-H2. Didn’t matter what I tried the camera just couldn’t see my device. The firmware version on on my camera was “version 1.0”. This app will only recognise “version 2.0” and above. In the end, I had to download the Fujifilm remote app (older app on the App Store), that paired straight away despite telling me to download this app. Through that app I updated my firmware to version 3.0 and the camera immediately paired with the Fuji XApp.
If you’re having issues with pairing. This might be your issue.

The last straw. I’m leaving Fuji.

Fuji’s camera app has lagged behind other systems for over 5 years. That’s sad because they had a head start around 2015, with great functionality, if not reliability. It’s been downhill since. This app wants full access to all photos on my phone to show me live view?! Hard pass. The location and notification requirements are also poor. No one wants to be forced to give up their privacy for abilities we had in 2015. I’ve had every XT camera, every xPro, 3 x100, XE, GFX, and more. Many many lenses. It’s all for sale as of tomorrow. I’m finally done. Colors are amazing, lenses are fabulous, form factors incredible. But as a company and a system they are regressing. This app should never have shipped. Guess I’m switching to Nikon Zf.

Why do you need access?

New app is much better for location syncing, but why do you need access to my photos in order for me to transfer photos from the camera to my iPhone?!? There’s no way I’m giving a third-party app complete access to my photo library, that’s just crazy.

This is "FUJIFILM XApp support team" Thank you for your message. Ver.1.10 improves as follows. • The application can communicate with the camera via Wi-Fi even if the permission to access "Location" is not set. • Functions that do not require permissions to access can now be used without setting the permissions to access.

Horrible for video shooters

This is app is unusable when it comes to monitoring and controlling video recording wirelessly. Every other mirrorless video camera app I’ve used gives you full control of the camera’s settings and focus controls, even adding on screen metering, focus peaking, manual focus options and more. It even shuts off all the on camera monitoring and controls for no reason! No other camera manufacturer does this with their mobile apps. Why in the world would Fuji do this to their customers? This app is nothing but a lackluster preview that limits you to a 1080p recording in camera, even when all your camera settings are set properly! Do better Fuji, we know you’re capable of it, just uninterested in solving the problems for your customers. Not to mention it barely can even connect to the camera and when it does it completely paralyzes the camera until you take the battery out and put it back in.

Still unable to transfer raw images

Nice facelift but inability to down load and raw format is useless. Give us at least that as an option

Better but still poor

This new app (replacing the infamous Cam Remote) is definitely better for image transfers and general connectivity, but has a glaring flaw when it comes to location syncing with the camera, as it will not stay awake in the background on my iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 16.5 - for some reason Fuji haven’t enabled “background app refresh” so the app just goes to sleep and will not reconnect with the camera again if the initial Bluetooth connection is dropped. In practice this means having to re-open the app on your phone every time you turn the camera on and want location data, making it a laborious manual process that’s not worth the bother. Fix it Fuji!

UPDATE - December 2023 - despite Fuji’s response below and various updates to the app, it’s still the case that once the camera is turned off or the phone/app goes to sleep, the Bluetooth connection is dropped and you get no further GPS updates until you manually reopen and restart the app. It’s the one big let-down in an otherwise good app.

This is "FUJIFILM XApp support team" Thank you for your message. Ver.1.10 improves as follows. • The minor bug is fixed that some smartphone models fail to connect to the camera via Wi-Fi in rare cases.

Geotagging still not working on iPhone 13 Pro

The geotagging function is still not fixed with this app update.
The location is recorded fine if the camera is running and the app is operating and connected to each other, but turn the camera off with the app running in the background and it looses connection and reports the initial location that was set at the time of activating the camera and app.
It’s a real nuisance having to re open and connect the phone and camera everytime the camera is switched back on, please look into this issue and provide a fix asap
All other functions within the app work fine

Much improved privacy settings

Just checked it out after a long gap and looks like they’ve fixed my major issue - having to have location services enabled to even open the app. That’s no longer the case. In addition connecting to and downloading photos from my xs10 is MUCH easier than the previous app. Great work!

Looks great but requires location to be set to always & precise

I am deleting this app after writing this review because it will not allow any option other then always for location with precise location as well set. No app should ever require that to use it, no matter what features it may disable to not have on. Forcing location tracking feels beyond shady. Fuji, please update your app to not force location tracking, thank you..

You updated the app to not require location data but your developers are still playing privacy games!!! I just deleted the app for a second time!! You are still requiring full access to the photo library instead of allowing a folder to be chosen to use camera control features and as well requiring access to other Bluetooth devices on a network. Shame on you Fuji, I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of money on your products and your app is completely disrespectful to your customers. May be time to switch to the new Nikon Zf, maybe Nikon treats their customers with the respect they would want to be treated with.
I purchased your product, it is not a free account on Facebook, you have absolutely no right to my data and how beyond disrespectful of you!
