VO2 Max Calculator User Reviews

Top reviews

1 year

I only review products I’ve used consistently for at least 1 year.

I was frustrated when I first downloaded it because the age font is small enough that I couldn’t get it to adjust. I worked that out after a few tries.

My first few readings were high, these were taken without exercising, but when I took it during or immediately after a workout I found that it gave me a relatively close, although a bit low, reading.

It has to be tight on my wrist to work properly. I now take 4-5 readings throughout the day with at least two during my workouts, then I average the results.

For a free app I thinks it’s a great tool when used properly. Don’t expect to get a highly accurate reading from it, the technology just isn’t there yet, however using this beats paying thousands of dollars a year and cumbersome equipment to get a daily vo2 max reading.

Thanks for your review. The VO2MAxX you getting is a rough estimate, calibrate statically against the averg population. A true Vo2Max can only be measured in lab, where you wear a oxygen mask that measures your O2 intake while doing an exercise (like running, cycling) that would exhaust the O2 in the blood.

Very good VO2max estimate

The only thing that’s missing is the ability to send the data to Apple’s Health (or keep track of the results itself). We can still add the data manually to Apple’s Health, so I guess it’s ok.

Thank you for the review.

Yeah no…

My VO2 max was calculated to be 81!!!! NO WAY!!!! DELETE

Loved how this worked

Completely inaccurate. My VO2 should be terrible but my result was 80. Free app or not there is no excuse for not following the equations available.

Do you take any medication, like beta blockers ? If you take another test, do you still get a high result?

Will have to do more testing

For everyone that is complaining that it’s a waste of money, it’s a free app. I appreciate the fact that the developer created an app that doesn’t require in app purchases.

I’ll have to see if this is really that accurate. I’m sure it’s not as accurate as sports physiology testing equipment. That’s OK, provided that it is consistent. If it shows improvement overtime, it’s probably a useful tool to determine whether or not your cardiovascular fitness is improving. I’m not so worried about the absolute number, but I do hope that it is consistent and can be used to track progress overtime.

Thank you for the review. You are correct when you say the app is not going to be as accurate as a proper medical test, but is a simple guide and the hope is to encourage people to take up exercise. Users that use the Apple Watch workout app will find it will records your VO2 for particular workouts, and yes it is a more accurate measurement because it is an active measurement.

Don’t waste your time

The app just doesn’t work. I get no results when using.

Response from developer

Not sure how you paid any money ("Don’t waste your money"). The app is free to download. If by "Just doesn’t work" you mean that it did not give you a result you liked, how is that the fault of the app or the scientific paper mentioned in the description? Editing: 27 November 2022 It does work! Below is a youtube video I have taken (just for you), where I download the app, grant heart rate permissions, run the app, and after a few mins you see the VO2Max Result. https://youtu.be/lV5oyoW213A You can also tweet me at https://twitter.com/ZoneTrainingApp/ or can continue to waste your time ("Don’t waste your time") by adding to this review, helping me to help you.

Waste

Doesn’t work

Response from developer

Why do you say it does not work? Or is this a 1 star review given because you did not understand the instructions ?

This app does nothing, purchased, set my age, and then it doesn't capture my hr.

Waste of a purchase.

Response from developer

If it does not capture your heart rate, then either your watch is not able to measure your heart or some reason (is loose around your wrist, hair or sweat preventing the sensor to function correctly. You can check this by using Apple Watch Heart app) , or you have not grant permissions for the app to read your heart rate.

Spot In

I have used this for a couple weeks now and it’s in line with readings off my HR monitor.

Does what it says and as far as I know the reading is accurate

Response from developer

Thank you for your kind review.

Thank you, Theo

Suffering from COPD, the app helps me with keeping the eye on my cardiac health. Nothing is perfect, but it has helped me move in the right direction. Thank you.

Response from developer

Thanks for that 5 star review, never expected it for such a simplistic, "gadget" app.
