  • Room Temp Inaccurate

I’ve had my Windmill unit for several weeks now. Not only is the unit extremely noisy because of rattling inside the unit and deep vibration sounds when the inverter kicks in, the app won’t register the room temp accurately. It has shown that my room is 59 degrees for the last three days, even when the unit has been off for hours. I deleted the app and reinstalled it but that did nothing. I would never recommend their ac unit or their app. Waste of money.

  • A year in with my unit…

Purchased the Windmill air conditioner last summer - everything worked great, app included. This year, not so much. My app now consistently does not show accurate readings (if they show any at all). I’ve had to reconnect my unit several times to the app. The automations work when they want to, but usually they don’t. I’m disappointed because last year everything was perfect. I guess there are some growing pains here. Please figure out a way to fix the app. The whole point of me buying this unit was to be able to control it remotely.

  • Love it, except for pop up glitch…

Great looking & working AC, but how in god’s name do I disable the “allow notifications“ pop up EVERY. SINGLE. TIME I open the app?! I say “skip” every time & have notifications turned off (because I obviously don’t need AC notifications). Make it STOP- it is so annoying… no means NO! 😂
  • 3 stars for the app

I purchased a 12,000 BTU unit. I love it because it cools down a few rooms rather quickly. It’s quieter than most ACs. It has a nice sleek clean aesthetic. It took me less than 10 min with helper to set up, not 45 min as the manual suggested.
The cons: are the manual, which doesn’t give tutorial on using remote control features. Also, I downloaded app in AppStore, with no success in pairing. Windmill support revealed The Windmill Air app only connects to a 2.4G network and won't work with a 5G network!! It’s 2024. Isn’t everyone using 5G network?! Developers need to accommodate 5G asap. Also, update the help section Vimeo videos to include the current features of the app(which I can’t use anyway 🫤)

  • Automations Don't Work

Sure, it's better looking than most window units, but I bought this for the app and scheduling capabilities. It's completely useless in that regard. Automations almost never work and turn the unit on, and on the rare occasion they do turn it on the settings have never once worked. It turns on at the lowest fan speed and eco mode. It's the same when I turn it on from the app. It shows fan on high and cool mode in the app but the unit is in low and eco. I have to switch each to a different setting and back to my desired setting for it to work.

Absolute failure as a product unless they update their tech quickly. I've missed my opportunity to return this as it only recently got warm enough to actually use the automations and discover these fatal flaws.

  • LOVE this fan!

I’m so happy with this fan. It’s easy to use with remote or app. When they say this fan has whisper setting, they’re telling the truth. It in the lower settings which I use most often, and I hear nothing, but feel the cooling airflow.
  • ANNOYING POPUP

Love the windmill and the app is *mostly* great but I declined notifications and it asks me to turn them on EVERY TIME I open the app to turn on my AC. I hit skip and it continues to show. I wrote the company and they were extremely kind but said this can’t be turned off. Hoping an update in the future makes them stop nagging me to turn on notifications :)

  • Basic and Unstable

The firmware is not even currently on version 1 and it shows. Anyone excited enough to give this app a glowing review when it can barely handle basic tasks is… telling.

It requires a Windmill account for any functionality (most WiFi enabled ACs do but it’s a new, unproven company hoarding your data, hooray).

It doesn’t maintain previous settings such as cool vs eco, set temp, or fan speed. Similarly, night mode only stays on for one night at a time and is buried deep in the settings that are not intuitive to find. Why not just put the slider on the main page taken up by 50% advertisements for your local utility company?

While the energy meter should be a cool feature, anything other than the real time readout is hilariously inaccurate with my unit using 500 watts for 3 hours straight and then reporting an average of 287 watts over that same time period.

Not sure if the unit is at fault or the programming is bad but it tends to hover about 5 degrees above where it’s set in app. With the energy meter, you can see it actively NOT using the full capacity despite also not being anywhere close to the set temp.

Every encounter I’ve had with this company including the app, customer service, and the unit itself shows that this is just another tech startup with too large a marketing budget. I’d never recommend this app and related experiences to anyone.

  • Peace and Quiet AC

Not only is the air conditioner quiet but it really does keep out the noise from the street. It’s built quite a bit better than a typical cheap air conditioner. App works just fine too!
  • Good app, annoying notifications

Solid app and functionality. For the love of god stop asking me if I want to turn on notifications. I don’t. I never do. I said no the first 100 times. Developers please kill that notification asap
