  • Frustrated with connectivity

At first everything was fine with this AC unit, then after about a month, the “clean filter” symbol blinked red and I took out the filter to see if it was really dirty as I’ve only had it in for a month, and the filter was not dirty at all. Ever since resetting it, the unit will constantly disconnect from my router and I have to reset it everyday just to get it connected. It’s the only reason I paid as much as I paid for a unit that isn’t really all that powerful but thought it would be very convenient to have on my phone and control it from anywhere, yet this feature is wonky and doesn’t work all the time

  • Stellar app!

Love it through and through. Super easy for me to connect to the unit… and I’m obsessed with turning my AC on whenever I’m 10min from home to pre-cool. 5/5 would recommend. Def download the app
  • Works great

AC looks great and app works reliably.
  • No Celsius Option

It’s 2022. No one likes Imperial Units.
  • HIGHLY RECOMMEND

From purchasing to installing our windmill air conditioner, the process was so easy and seamless. Having purchased many units in the past, this is by far the best looking and quietest one we’ve ever owned. From placing the order to having it up and running, it was a 48 hour turn around. We are beyond happy with our purchase and will be windmill customers moving forward!

  • Great, but needs a few fixes/improvements

I like the app - it’s pretty clean and easy to spot where things are. The interface is intuitive too. My router has whitelisting of MAC addresses which always trips up the first WiFi setup process, but that’s not Windmill’s fault, and if you are doing whitelisting, you know how to work around this. A few things I would suggest for improvements:

    1. For people like me, posting the MAC address of the WiFi somewhere (a sticker on the device? Displaying it when you connect to local WiFi before passing along router/WiFi info?) would be helpful.

    2. The automation I wanted doesn’t work. I specifically set up our Windmill so that it starts at night with a fan speed of “Low” and a Mode of “Cool”. When I first setup the automation, I had a mode of “Eco”, then I changed and re-saved the automation, but the Cool setting never takes effect. Removing and re-adding the automation does nothing to fix it. This should be addressed.

    3. The Night Mode option is awesome, but it doesn’t stick. There’s no way to program this mode in an Automation, and even when I turn the Night Mode setting on at night, the next day when Automation turns it on, the Night Mode setting is off again. This should be fixed.

    4. There is a Windmill AC app in the App Store, and then there’s this app. If I didn’t scan the QR code that came with the AC unit, I wouldn’t know which app is appropriate, and frankly I still don’t. I would make it much clearer which app is for which purpose. It’s very confusing to a user.

Despite these things, none of this should discourage you from getting this device or this app. The AC unit is not quietest window AC unit out there (look to the Midea U for that, but enjoy the install process on that guy), but it’s still pretty quiet, and the hum of the fan in Cool Mode, to me, actually helps with my sleep (albeit less eco-friendly). The design is wonderful, the install is easy, the night mode is perfect, the added charcoal filter is a nice touch that you will likely forget about if you don’t care about such things, and for the first time in years, this unit in my bedroom has brought me back to a deeper sleep again after using room fans to attempt to make the room comfortable. Thanks to all the good folks who put this setup together - know that you are appreciated!

  • Great foundation

The app is stable and has very attractive UX design. I’d love to a dark mode that follows the iOS system default. I’d also like it to be easier to switch the display off for Night Mode from the main dashboard rather than having to go into settings. Keep up the good work!

PS - there are two Windmill apps and both of them look official. Not sure what the differences is, it’s a little confusing.

  • Easy-to-use!

It's so intuitive. Great to not need a remote
  • Easy

    Love the automations
  • Super hard to connect

App didn’t want to connect to the AC and I don’t see the Google Home and Alexa integrations as promised.
