  • Literally Unplayable

I actually really enjoyed this game play. It's simple and addictive. However, the onslaught of ads makes this game awful enough for me to write a review (I never write reviews). Ads pop up every 45 seconds. You can't skip them. You don't gain anything from them. In fact, you dont even collect gold while they're playing because this company forgot how idle games are supposed to work. Unless you have the app
open without an ad playing, you gain no gold. They've also REQUIRED internet access. The game has no necessity for this, so oit of greed alone, you're required to deal with the absolutely ridiculous frequency of ads. Want to get rid of the ads? 10 dollars. Absolutely ridiculous for a game that once you finish the US, Canada, and Mexico makes you START OVER. I understand being a small studio but add ad incentives. Add in game purchases for coins and keys. Put a little more time into your game?!?! Dont guilt trip your audience with the fact that you're a small studio to dump 10 dollars down the drain. I'm deleting this app and will not be downloading other apps from this developer.

  • Kinda unreasonable….

I’ve never written a game app review but I felt like I should say something cause common guys! I get that there needs to be ads in order to keep the game “free” okay that’s fine, but a ad every couple of seconds? This game would be super relaxing and enjoyable if it weren’t for every single time you get I to a groove BOOM! Ad after ad. Yes there’s the option to buy the game with no ads but for 10 bucks?! It’s not a super detailed crazy game that justifies 10 dollars. I’d say the most it’s worth is half that and even then for an app as simple as this that’s pretty steep.
I like the game itself, it’s a fun concept and when you want to veg out and do some mindless gaming this is right up my alley. However I will not be purchasing the app for 10 dollars out of principal if it goes on sale I’d definitely consider it though. Might have to uninstall for awhile, the ads are just to much, it takes away from the actual fun of the game.

  • Cool game but…

I love idle games for whatever reason. This is a very cool one except for the fact that you have to have the game open and running to get any kind of progress. There is no offline generating, so if you’re not actively playing, you’re not getting anything. The absolute worst thing about the game is the ads. I’m completely for games being free with ads and then if you want to remove the ads, pay for it to be removed for like 3 or 4 dollars. It beats the heck out of paying 6 or 7 dollars to even be able to play a game before testing it and you end up hating it. In this case, you can pay to remove the ads but it’s 10 dollars. Who set the price for this??? I understand the studio making the game isn’t supercell, but 10 dollars for a mobile game that doesn’t do anything with online play or generate any income while you’re not playing. The ads here are ridiculous. I had an ad, upgraded one base, and before I made the 150 I game currency to upgrade a second base, I was hit with another ad. It’s literally an ad every 45 seconds.

    TLDR;
The game is unplayable unless you spend 10 dollars to get rid of the ad every 45 seconds, but the game just isn’t going to be worth 10 dollars to many people in its current state.

  • Decent

I would give this game a higher rate, but I’ve played the US/Canada/Mexico “level” at least 7 times in a row now and see no sign of moving anywhere else. I see no menu options for anything except the basic settings, so no chance of moving over to Europe or anything else like that. And it’s starting to get really boring to play.

I’ve also had to uninstall and reinstall a few times when the money collection system fails. For instance, playing for a bit and leaving the game for a few hours then coming back and money doesn’t increase at all. Almost like it freezes and there is no way to reset the counter except deleting and reinstalling the game. It does say there is a store to get different cars and buildings, but you get lucky with the options ever showing up. Usually have to be the same map a few times to see it.

  • Game Changed

After an update around a month or so ago, the game only plays online until you buy the ad-free version for $9.99 (which in itself is ridiculous), but other parts of the gameplay changed. When I made it to the “next level” after completing all of North America, the xp stopped and I couldn’t level up anymore. Also, I earned money much slower (I figured this was because I “leveled up” but ended up not being so). I deleted it and reinstalled thinking it would fix the xp glitch (it did), but I still earned money very slowly and have yet to make it through a quarter of the US. When I first got the game I could play offline and sit patiently for enough money to buy the next state/province. The game was addicting for me. But, again, since that one update the game is a chore and even leaving it alone for a few minutes I still have no where near enough money for anything (when before I earned more than enough). Ridiculous, a “small studio” has no excuse to make a game grindier.

  • Something is wrong..

So I started playing this game a couple days ago and bought $20 worth of gems and removed ads.

I unlocked a lot of states and was making millions in minutes. Then when I started playing today, I noticed I wasn’t making really anything at all like I was yesterday.

So I thought the game was glitched, because it didn’t seem right that I had half the US unlocked and some parts of Mexico, with it costing millions to upgrade, and not making enough to open new roads (I was making less than a thousand a second).

So I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, hoping it would have saved my progress. It didn’t. But not only that, when I used the “restore” button to restore any purchase I’ve made (again, removed ads and bought 2000 gems, so $30), it never worked. So now I’ve spent $30 for nothing and don’t have any progress in the game.

I was enjoying the game up until then.. it seems a bit of an oversight to not have a save game feature for if you decide to delete the game and reinstall it and keep your progress. And it truly seems messed up to not give back the things I purchased..

On a side note, it doesn’t seem like there’s really any information on how to go about this game. I know it’s very basic and easy to play, but there are some things that could be added and explained a bit more thoroughly.

  • Price too high

I don’t ever write reviews, but I felt like I needed to write this one. This game is a ton of fun. Watching all the cars drive on roads you built all over the U.S. is somehow therapeutic. The reason I gave it three stars is because of all the ads. I fully understand that ads need to be a part of these games because it’s how people make money off games that are free on the internet and I usually don’t mind them because I understand this. The problem I have is the price point to get rid of them. I just think you guys would make more money with a lower price point to get rid of them than 10 dollars. I won’t pay that and I’d imagine a lot of people are with me on this. If the price was 4.99 or less, then I would definitely do that. I’m just thinking 10 dollars is a lot of money for a game that is pretty simplistic (but fun). Instead I will more than likely get sick of the ads and delete the app. I wish you guys great success and hope that you will read this review and think on it.

  • Egregiously abusive ads and ad-free price

I stopped playing mobile games a couple years ago because I got tired of the constant ads, figured it couldn’t be any worse now but boy was I wrong. Open the app, ad, tap a button, ad, wait a second, ad, it’s an idle game where progress isn’t earned by anything other than sitting around and waiting. There is no need for the sheer quantity of ads it has. Seriously, the devs have countless other games they’re no doubt filling with just as many ads, why go through so much trouble? Are you not charging advertisers enough? It’s not the players’ responsibility to keep your business afloat; after two days of moderately enjoying the gameplay, I figured I’d check how much it cost to go ad-free, fully expecting just a couple bucks. $10 is money better spent on shoelaces for Velcro shoes. There’s absolutely no valid reason for something as simple as making the game playable to be behind such a paywall, especially considering most people don’t keep the same games on their phones for longer than a week or two at most. Seriously, GFY.

  • Great game

I just got this game today so far so good! The game is relaxing. Although I don’t really see a point, it’s addicting!! I love it. The one down side of this app is the amount of ads. There are soooo many ads. There isn’t an option to get no ads so you just have to deal with the obnoxious ads. They don’t even switch up the ads. Today I’ve seen about 20 ads, and it’s just been the same two ads over and over again! Like I feel if your going to give so many ads at least give a variety of ads to show. The app overall is really fun and addicting but there are lots of ads. One other thing that is a bit annoying is that it takes so long to get money that you need but maybe that’s just in the beginning of the game. I will keep playing and maybe I will change my review when I get further into the game but overall its a great game. :)

  • A wonderful experience ruined by greed.

To preface, this is an incredible game. I have a lot of fun with it, and it’s pretty addictive. The production quality is solid, and it’s seemingly well optimized. However, the constant onslaught of ads does somewhat ruin the experience. I understand that as a small gaming studio, money is tight. However, the ad placement is excessive at best. Not only is there a constant ad bar at the bottom, one of your upgrades is taken up by an ad to upgrade button. On top of all that, an ad is played roughly every 30 seconds. I find it quicker to completely reboot than to wait for them. The bottom line is, this overuse of ads is unacceptable. Not to mention; a $10 fee to remove them is way too much, $5 is the maximum reasonable price i’d say. And that isn’t even to mention the fact that you literally cannot play the game offline; it says you need connection- but there are not online features. So, to conclude, State Connect is a wonderful and enjoyable concept for a game, inevitably and sadly ruined by lust for money.
