  • A great sequel, but why Apple Arcade only?

Okay, this is a great sequel to the original, and I love everything about it, but the fact that it’s exclusive to Apple Arcade may leave a really bad impression for a few. The original game is loved by many, and making its sequel a apple exclusive and behind a pay wall will just leave people with a bad taste. But that doesn’t stop the game from being great and in my opinion, worth 5 stars. progression is great, the gameplay is great, everything is a upgrade to what the original is, and I really recommend trying it out.

  • The first one was better

The addition of guns you shoot forward changes the game dramatically and makes it much less unique than the first. Moreover, the game has the structure of a gacha game even though there are no IAP in the Apple Arcade version. This means loot boxes, a lot of different currencies, and daily logins.

Game also ties to trick you into enabling notifications by giving you "Yes" and "not right now" options but no "no".

  • overall, an outstanding sequel

I played the original to death. This sequel is a great expansion that respects Arcade conventions while still providing lots of fun ways to progress and upgrade. There’s lots of new special powerups (and some old favorites that have been improved). The one part I don’t enjoy is the Arcade mini-games which are required to grind materials for upgrades to what are now called “Badges” that used to be just equippable buffs, because not only are the Arcade mini-games frustrating but the materials requirements require a _lot_ of play-time, much of which is made even worse by the _unskippable_ post-game progress animations that just force-feed you what you already won rather than letting you get more of the grind out of the way. The interface design is a complete jumbled mess using red dots where nothing is actually ready. But overall, they did a great job of expanding Jetpack Joyride and bringing some fresh ideas to the table. I’ve been enjoying the several hours that I’ve spent with it so far and see a good 20+ ahead of me in just this debut version, with more sure to come in future updates.

  • Even better than the first

I loved jetpack joyride 1. I had several hundred medals and all of the gadgets. Then the new content riddled with cmicro transactions came. I stopped playing right about then, checking in every once in a while just to see how this game I loved was doing. But this, this is the game I wanted. I love the new direction in side games and set distances for a level. This makes the game much easier to play. And the subtle changes that come when micro transactions aren't a driving design factor are evident throughout the game play. And I love it. Well done halfbrick.
