  • Fantastic sequel and addicting

This game is the perfect sequel to the original and follows what the gaming scene was like when it came out. Back when JJ1 came out it was all about the high score, but with JJ2 it gives you a proper story with upgrades, progression, weapons to use while progressing, and loads of different game modes if you get bored playing the story somehow.

The character interactions are just amazing and got a lot of laughs out of me on my first play-through. I just wish that there were more vehicles to get because I’m still upgrading everything else but have nothing to spend my blueprints on. I pray that new vehicles get added as it would be so fun as having the same 4 over an over just gets repetitive. In the second lab you can see Mr cuddles in the background as a fossil and it would be so cool to get him back.

But overall this game is so fun and gives you so many different ways to play.

  • Still the same experience from 6 months ago

I played this game since launch, and I’m still 176th in the world on Endless Mode. Now, I originally took a pause for about 6 months because the game lagged at a certain score on endless and they added those sticker orbs. I just came back for a game, it was long overdue, and wow, there’s now cakes that float around the map alongside the sticker orbs. I can’t tell AT ALL what I need to collect, what I need to shoot at, and what I need to avoid. Its got way too much chaos and it ends up being more frustrating that enjoyable. The fact this is still an issue is very disappointing and makes it hard to play.

At the same time, the fact I’m still ranked so high after so long of not playing solidifies that point of too much chaos. I’ve never come remotely close to my highest score if I ever do play an endless mode. When you pair a quick to beat storyline mode, and a guarantee no chance to beat your endless mode score, there’s nothing to really play for…

  • Well done

    Brilliant
  • Awesome, couple glitches though

I’ve beaten the game and I can now access boss rush mode, but whenever I die in boss rush mode the game crashes. Other than that, it’s an awesome game and I would recommend it to anyone who liked the first game.
  • An unfinished mess

The original Jetpack Joyride was a pretty cool game. But it’s pretty clear this sequel only exists because Tim Cook burst through the wall of Halfbrick Studios with a sack of money and offered it to them in exchange for whatever they could whip up before he finished microwaving the Hot Pockets he brought for lunch. The score mechanic makes no sense, it’s primarily distance-based except when it’s not, blowing up basic enemies seems to give you a small amount of points but blowing up huge bosses gives you none. Basic bench Betty is in the game for some reason despite no storyline reason given for her existence and she sometimes shows up instead of Barry in storyline sequences, even when you’re controlling Barry. There’s these big blue diamonds you can grab that don’t do anything cool at all, they just give you a bunch of coins, even though giant coins that also give you a bunch of coins already exist. Clearly none of this was planned out and was a bare minimum effort to get some Apple Arcade money.

  • NEW BOSS RUSH NOT FAIR TO TOP USERS

Eliminating badges for Power is unfair. It is extremely hard to kill 9 Bosses in a Row without powers. They strip it out and hope you can get through the first round of 9 bosses. Trying to keep us busy but the sense of achievement is lost. It resets to 0 if you don’t make it. And trust me. You won’t. At least let us log the ones we have defeated. I have defeated 3 in a Row but I have to start all over again. Get another 3 first then try to get all 9. That is not right. I should start with 3 and move on to try to get to 9. AND OUT OF THE FIRST ROUND. GIVE US OUR BADGES and increase the rounds and rewards. There is nothing left for me to collect. I’m on 3rd Prestige. All badges full and I can’t use them against these hard challenges. Tying my hands and hoping I stay interested? No. I’m rapidly losing interest and looking for another game.
    Badges for Hard challenges Please!

  • Good game BUT

Love the game. On the second play though just now but my issue is this new constant boss mode. Love the idea but it’s been implemented terribly. Doesn’t take into account of any of your upgrades to the gun or attack. It’s ridiculously grindy and awful to play. It basically takes you back to level 1 but then offers the later bosses so your shooting them with a water pistol. Not to mention three lives and no way to get more. 3 lives to defeat 12 bosses with a basic gun was this ever play tested?! Fix this balance issue and it’s 5 stars.

  • Good, However Recent Updates?

The game started as a fantastic project for something great but the major problem is progression and pacing.

The XP required for levels up in ratio to what XP you can gain forces a constant grind to get new Jetpack cores. By the time you reach Neontropolis story mode becomes increasingly grindy as the difficulty sky rockets.

It’s essentially down to what core you have which determines how much damage you deal to the enemies, but with XP progression so slow and levels unrewarding, you are entering the newer worlds largely underpowered.

There needs to be a balance so there’s still a challenge, but not to the extent you’re blatantly underpowered and forced to grind. Additionally, fights with robots get incredibly clanky in the newer worlds, it turns into a bullet hell, which of course is fun - if you’re not underpowered. Just keep the game a bit more XP balanced, so you can go in with a challenge but not 2 cores down from the recommended because you lack insane amounts of XP to even progress. You just lose enjoyment.

Everything else is fab - but new arcade modes?

    😀
