They want you to open it to see what actor died or whatever. But the other local app WSBT22 will actually tell you all you need to know in their notification. I’ll be deleting this app and only use WSBT22. ### 2/5 — NBC news app *2026-03-12, version 5.0.2* I think this app is absolutely fantastic except for the close captioning at the bottom. The initial ad upon opening the app is frustrating. It pauses any audio or video already playing through other apps. Want to check the news updates while also listening to a podcast or music? The weather radar is gone and now transfers you to another app First Alert that is SO hard to read and follow. Nothing on it is easy to understand like the old app was. Why did you mess with a great app and turn it into something so sub par it’s laughable? However, it is easy to get to the weather in this app and intuitive enough to figure out where other weather things are. Some of the weather icons (rain specifically) are a bit hard to figure out against the background. I like the side scrolling hourly forecast on the weather overview. Much improved over the last app! ### 3/5 — Please fix *2026-03-11* The new notifications are difficult to get to and clear out—and also constant. The new layout is not as user friendly as it used to be and also not visually appealing. The ads popping up are not as easy to get rid of either.
