Update is abysmal
I’m guessing the Wordle legal team finally clued in that this game was too similar. I cannot think of another reason for such a drastic overhaul to be made? Before this update—(ahem, completely new UX/UI)—there were only two bugs I wished they would fix: a glitch in the letter scoring and one that would pop up every so often at the end of the game when trying to play again. Now, the whole experience is different, and for me, not in a good way. I gave it several minutes and and found it frustrating enough that I’m not interested anymore. Too bad!Show lessTile Maven
Not improved
I liked the old version where you didn’t have to start from the first letter each time (you could enter a letter in the middle instead of starting from the beginning each time).
The new keyboard is too tiny and I liked the old screen that wasn’t so dark.
Where is the score? I liked seeing how many games in a row I’d won. Why no score? And what’s with the timer at the bottom when I can play as many games as I want?
I do like the new crossword game but my thumbs/fingers get tired on the tiny keyboard.

Recent update removed features that made this app unique
Had loved this game but can no longer select spaces to put in letters. Now need to start with the first letter of your word and type in your letter choices from left to right. If you change your mind you need to backspace out all the letters and start again. Used to be able to select any letter space and type in the letter wanted, as well as remove a specific letter choice and reselect another letter. Can’t do that anymore. Fun, but…
It’s a fun and challenging game, but some of the words are SO obscure - especially if you’re not a Brit (lol). “Oasts”? “Suint”? I guess you might know those if you’re a sheep farmer who brews their own beer?? Update: The dictionary update seems to be helping- not nearly as many “out there” words. Updating to 4 stars. Second update: wow! A developer who actually works on making updates based on user reviews! Now you can choose a setting for “common words” or “all words”. (“All words is really challenging if you are a Scrabble dictionary officianado. 😉) I’m updating to 5 stars- I really enjoy playing this game. I’m sure ads will kick in eventually, but I think it’s worth sitting through a few ads - it’s just like playing the daily “Wordle” game!
Dear developer, the update to the design is lovely, however would you please make it possible to choose either the black screen or the white screen? I love playing your app, but I have epilepsy and literally cannot read letters on a black screen. I know there are other people with a similar problem, so it would be wonderful if we could choose. Why the changes?
This app was great until the changes today. Now you can no longer place letters that are correct without retyping the word each time. That was the best feature of your app over others. I also don’t like the changes to the theme color. Dark backgrounds are harsh for my eyes with light text. The simple text version before was much easier to read. If it had to be changed, having an option to select your color palette would be better. Really upset on the changes to what was an amazing app before.Show lessBronteForever
New is not always better
I was very happy with this game until yesterday when the whole interface changed. The new graphics are okay but now you cannot put letters in any location, you have to start at the beginning and fill in the whole word then backspace to clear the word if you want to try a new arrangement. This is way too tedious. Also the new letter cache is way too small. Bummer, liked this, but too frustrating to play now. Both my husband and I will delete.Show lessDarshow
Update changed the entire game
Was enjoying this game on my phone, so downloaded to my iPad yesterday. The game board is now circles rather than a grid, and the ability to select specific spots and fill in known letters is gone. Letters can only be added sequentially now, so if you rely on visualizing potential words by seeing the correct letters in their places, this is much harder to do. Today, the version on my phone automatically updated as well, so now the version I enjoyed is gone. Worst part is now I can only play each game level once every 12 hours after I win. Disappointing update to perfect Wordle alternative
Why, why do developers insist on fixing what isn’t broken? I loved this app because unlike Wordle, you could type in letters one at a time. For example, If you go the 1st and 4th letter right, you could fill them in on the next line and try various combinations of letters to fill in the blanks without displacing the letters you already had right. With the new update I’m literally doing the work on a separate piece of paper then typing in the answer, because the letters only fill in from left to right in order. Sounds petty, but the new tile colors and design are ugly compared to the previous version. I’ll be deleting this and searching for a new app as soon as I break my streak.Show lessMacInChick
I loved this game before the update
I loved this game then they did an update. First, the colors completely changed, which I guess I can get used to, but the new board is horrible. You used to be able to add or delete letters in any square you want, but now you can only add or delete them in order. So if I have all letters correct except the first one, you cannot just keep changing just that one to visually news the word before submitting. You have to delete the whole word to play around with one square. Why would you change this??? I feel like it’s a deal breaker for me. Too time consumingShow less---Disappointed---
Version 2.0 —- ruined it.
I enjoyed the previous version. 4 or 5 stars.
This version is very frustrating.
1. The scaled down the keyboard. So, it’s different than the native keyboard, on which I type relatively accurately and quick. Their scaled down size keeps me hitting the wrong keys. Mistyping and having to backspace.
2. I can no longer put letters in whichever box I want. It only allows you to type from box 1, and you can’t leave a blank space on other positions.. get what I am saying. If the word is “PIOUS” And I discovered that the P and S Are in correct placement. I cant simply put “P- - - S” and try to envision other letters in the blanks I left. Annoying.
3. I don’t like that I can no longer see my streak count from the game board.
4. I enjoyed playing “difficult words” not just common words. Occasionally, I’d learn a new word and they would give you a definition. Miss that too.
5. The letters are smaller. Don’t like that. My wife and I were in the habit of holding up the phone when we were stumped and we’d help each other. But now it’s too small to see her screen from 5 feet away.Show lessdngilb
