Came for ADOFAI, stayed for the gameplay

As stated in the title I originally found this game through A Dance of Fire and Ice. After downloading it only took 1 track for me to fall in love. As soon as I finished track 2 I immediately bought the full game. Highly recommend for anyone else who wants a simple rhythm game on the go.

good game

Really good game I love it

this is the second review for this game lol

Interesting!

Fun App! Never played anything adofai related or thee’ adofai game before.. but it’s a really good app! To bad most players don’t have any spare change to spend ( me.. I’m broke ) .

The demo to be honest in my opinion was a lot shorter then I thought.. I was just about to get into it. Thank you though..

i love this game

title says it all!! its fun, its a challenge, and i like the songs. i’d add fear grows and final boss to my spotify playlist if it was on there!! its definitely not a rhythm game for a casual player, as i can definitely say some of the songs took me hours to complete, and im still working on the bonus songs…

but for someone who loves rhythm games and enjoys a challenge, this is a great game!! just beware, hours of playing have the side effect of making you very dizzy— at least in my experience.

Pleasantly surprised!

Since the game is so cheaply priced (about 3, 6 dollars at most) I didn’t really expect much from it. I was actually very impressed playing the demo, though! The mechanics were explained really well in just 2 levels, and I felt like I had a good grasp of them. The songs themselves, while fluctuating in quality, still managed to surprise me with some tracks like Fear Grows and Player. I would reccomend this game, though I do have some gripes with it. The difficulty curve is all over the place, which made some of the gameplay frustrating. (Though keep in mind that after Flying To You, you can pass the rest in any order). I also think the game could definitely use more sound effects and music, since during the dialogue or in the overworld it felt awkward to hear nothing. Also, a quick note- when the description says it has hundreds of levels, it includes the practice levels as well. The full package has 32 full songs. Overall though, this is a great buy! Very cute rhythm game that kept me interested.

Lovely Game

Nice, smooth, difficult and fun! This game is really cool because of rhythm and timing. I would recommend this for any rhythm game veterans who want to challenge themselves!

This is the indie rhythm game everyone should be playing

It doesn’t lean hard on its custom mechanics, if you’re familiar with rhythm games it’s easy to jump in and sight read. But it has a very individual style, and the graphics and music are incredibly polished. The “one try” mechanic makes every note very intentional and you have to nail it to win (unless you go for the shield which gives some assistance but doesn’t overall test your skill as much) The two button model works way better here than Taiko or Muse Dash in my opinion. ADOFAI and Rhythm Doctor are two of my favorites and I’m happy to include this among the greats.

L or R ?

Red should be on the left even if it’s up or down

VERY UPSET!!!!

How completely STUPID!!!! It took me about 100 tries to get past the second song, and you jerks had it set up to stop you right there and MAKE YOU PAY FOR THE REST!!!! That’s the stupid most infuriating thing I have EVER SEEN!!!! Screw you guys!!!! 😡

TLDR: Buy the game!

UPDATE: A lot has changed since I wrote this! To be brief, most of what I asked to be added/fixed has been changed, including more songs! Also I this review probably sounds like it’s fake so hopefully to show that it’s not I’m writing here that I’m aware of it. Note that a lot of the terms I used below are now outdated, but I’m too lazy to fix them.

I just finished the game and wow, this is a fun journey. For those who are considering getting it here are some main points you should know:

-The full experience is not free; this is just a demo. The full game is 3 dollars from an in-app purchase. If you want to test out the game it is a really good way to see if you like it!

-You can also buy a “defense item” that lets you make 3 mistakes each level instead of having only one life. I would recommend buying it, as it is only 3 dollars more and the tutorials before each stage seem to be made with the “defense item” in mind. Plus, it can be toggled off in settings if you want to have it off.

-The game has a full story with dialogue; despite the dialogue being imperfect English (as if it was Google translated or English is the developer’s second language) it is good enough that the main point can be understood. The story of the world and characters is worth it!

-There are 21 levels total, with no level editor so far. Each level can also be sped up once completed. The first two levels are unlocked with the demo. After the first level is completed, you must do three sets of three levels to unlock the next three sets, and complete those to unlock the final level.

-If you have come here from ADOFAI, I think that the difficulty is a little bit easier. I finished it much sooner, but I had the “defense item” on so that probably affected how I performed.

-Everyone and everything is very cute, despite their realistic stories. Someone even gets karma from product placement! (I guess that’s not so realistic, but you get my point)

-The game has two languages: English and Korean.

Overall, very fun and entertaining rhythm game with an engaging story. For only 5-6 dollars it is definitely worth the buy! Developer suggestions:

- [fixed] try to find a native English speaker to fix any nonsensical English and to give it better flow. The semi broken English is the worst part of the game , so fixing it will be a big help!

-[new levels added] A level editor + way to share levels would be a very cool feature to increase the longevity of the game!

-[fixed] Add a setting to turn off fast background animations or turn off background animations entirely. Flashing animations could bother a lot of people!

-Add a way to customize the color of the bouncing ball.

If I think of anything else to add or I have errors I’ll make sure to edit my review. Also here’s a cookie for making it down here 🍪 Edit: Clarified that the other language is Korean after learning that that is the case
