Somewhat functional... but very buggy and too many in-app purchases
It does what it claimed to do on their site when they sold us the tag(s). But just barely. It let me create profiles for my pets but wanted to charge me for almost everything beyond that. Want to add more than one person on the account? Pay for it. Want to get texts or emails when somebody finds your pet? Pay for it. And so on.
But, the basic functionality is there. My daughter "found" the pet and scanned her tag. I got a NOTIFICATION (not email or text) that my pet's tag was scanned and I think there was a way to try to contact the person that found her.
Biggest issue: bugs, bugs, and more bugs. I used to develop for iOS and the kinds of bugs here are atrocious. UI elements (buttons -- like "Enter" and stuff) are off the screen and cannot be reached, etc. Their date picker (the only way to set pet's age) is ridiculous... trial and error about a dozen times... still not sure how I picked the date I chose... and it's not correct, either... but at least it indicates that the pet is "old" -- good enough, I suppose. I had to kill/restart the app about five times while creating each pet's account.
TL/DR/bottom line: it works... with patience... hopefully, the pet never gets lost... and hopefully this company continues to maintain their database and backend support if/when the pet ever gets lost.Show lessNerdy Mac-lovin' Dad
The Best Lost Alert Tag Out There
We have of these tags for both of our dogs. They are durable and easy to add to your dogs collar. The ap is simple to use and keeps a lot of pet information handy in case your pet gets out. A simple scan of the tag with your phone, and someone will know exactly how to get ahold of you to return your pet. I highly recommend every pet collar has one of these.Show lessHoney Graham Dad
Customer service is fabulous
I thought I purchased the wrong size by mistake. They were equipped to send me out a free larger tag, but then it turned out. I bought the right one lol and they were very gracious, and quit to respond and deleted the second order. Overall the product seems great. Let’s hope my dog never gets away. Lol.Show lessEdrocksluv17
Good to an extent
You really need to have tracking available for real time and not just if and when the tag ever gets scanned. What if no one ever finds the pet and the pet is lost and alone or worse! There should be some kind of GPS AirTag related function to these

Poor customer service and app not functional
As a person who works in the dog industry, it is vital to have products that help keep your dog safe. This product is not one of them. Do not waste your money or your time. I bought this for the “just in case scenario”. I wanted to test it out before just “assuming” it works because the company says so. It does not work as advertised. Yes someone can call or text me but I should also get a notification the tag has been scanned. Now what good does it do if you are looking for your dog and you do not get notified that the tag has been scanned??? I contacted the company thinking I would get the “I’m sorry you are having problems, let me stand by my product and make it right”. I got the you are an idiot and don’t know how to work your phone, not only by one person but two. I’m not a 80 year old that still has a flip phone. Im a younger person that is very functional with their phone. So customer service is poor. Asked for a return because the product does not work and was denied. Product is still in the package never placed it on my dog. This company does not care about the safety of your dog, their product or customer service. Great Piece of Mind for My Pet
I have previously used an AirTag to keep tabs on my pets whereabouts. But if she gets lost and later found, no one knows how to contact me. The Heybuddy tag and App are a great solution to this. The cleverly written App allows me to add details about my Pet including contact info for several people, address (great because can easily update when on vacation), add medical info, etc. I get alerted when her QR Heybuddy tag is scanned with her location. The one issue I see is if someone finds her and wants to keep her (without scanning her tag) so that’s where a combination of using Heybuddy tag and AirTag may work well together. Even by itself, Heybuddy is a cost effective piece of mind and I highly recommend to anyone with a pet that wears a collar! Great staff who answers technical questions.Show lessAppThis

I have four dogs and recently moved, but not to a permanent place, so I wanted to update their ID tags, but didn’t want to have to spend the money to replace them as I move around. I stumbled on the Hey Buddy app and couldn’t be happier!
I love that you can update information without the extra cost, can keep track of things like vaccinations, vet info and more. The price is super affordable, too.Show lesspaulab1210
Hay Buddy
I’m disappointed you can’t add more names like family members to this app. I have tried and there is no where to add more infor. I have another tag for my dogs that I have my whole family with addresses and phone numbers. I do like the way you can put it on the collar/harness so it’s not on the collar hanging. So far, so good
I just got the piece that goes in my dog’s collar and I’m happy with it. It easily fits on her collar and is snug so it doesn’t move around. Setting up the app was super easy and even fun getting to input information that was important for strangers to know about my dog, if she is ever missing, like important medical information and behavior quirks. It was also fun getting to write about her personality, upload photos, etc. The app seems neatly arranged, comprehensive, and the user experience is easy enough. Nothing working
I purchased Hey Buddy and at first I loved it. The app worked great. I would scan my dog’s tags to check on the system working when we moved. Everything seemed to be great until recently. I tried a practice scan on both my dog’s tags and neither brought up a notification action to me or any connecting info tot he scanner. Instead a purple screen with links to downloading the app for Google and iPhone came up. This has absolutely no chance of doing what it says it will do. I’ve tried contacting customer service and have received nothing. I’ve sent a DM on their IG and they haven’t even looked at it. I still have 6 months on my subscription and it doesn’t work. I’m beyond frustrated and quite frankly angry given that my reliability on this product is misplaced. If my dog were to get separated from me, all of the fail safes would not work. I don’t have other identifying tags on him because of these tags. Essentially, we may never find each other again. We are having an epidemic of stray, lost and dumped dogs. People are stealing dogs to sell for money at an unprecedented rate and shelters are over capacity with euthanizing being commonplace. Fix this app problem or you are contributing to the potential immense grief of all your customers and their beloved furbabies. You’ve received payment.
