Thank you for the kind words! We built this in the hopes that it would bring people happiness (and perhaps just a touch of frustration, haha). If there are any suggestions on things we can improve, don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
Price is too high
Edit based on the devs response:
Here are a few more thoughts.
- powerups: The flip animation when powerups are available is distracting and irritating. It makes the concept seem like a cheap money grab. This would normally have resulted in an instant uninstall from me, but the game is actually fun once you use the powerups and the flip animation turns off.
- All the animations are too slow. There should be a setting which turns this off.
- The base free game is largely luck based and doesn’t provide a compelling enough reason to switch to the full (very expensive for solitaire) game. Hiding the challenges and other bonus material behind a paywall makes sense, hiding the higher difficulty levels seems odd as this is a cheap opportunity to increase enjoyment and likelihood of someone paying for the extras. But I’m not here to critique your business strategy.
- For as much as I hate ads, I’m fine with ad supported free tiers. But I genuinely think $25 is too high for this game. I’m absolutely never ever going to subscribe to a solitaire game. I think that practice is scummier than ads. Let’s meet in the middle, I’d buy powerups to support you, but those actively make gameplay worse with the aforementioned flip animation.
Thanks for listening. Good luck.

Thank you for the feedback! Setting a fair price has been the most challenging part of this process. As a tiny, two-person development team, the primary thing that motivates us is building fun software that brings our users happiness, whether they pay for premium features or not. Most "free" apps these days overwhelm users with ads and/or make money by selling your data. We refuse to be part of the trend where it's ok to take data about you and sell it to the highest bidder. Additionally, we feel that ads make for a truly awful experience and we see that as a last resort for us. We ultimately have to set a price that we feel is fair, providing both options for subscription or outright purchase, that gives us the best chance to continue supporting the game. We are glad you're playing our game and hope you continue to enjoy the no-ads, unlimited free tier we provide to everyone. Please feel free to contact us with any other thoughts or suggestions at support@kllandinc.com.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your candid thoughts and experience with Blue Moon Solitaire. Our primary motivation is to create a fun and enjoyable game, which happily aligns with your initial experience. This gives us hope that we are on the right track! We are a tiny two-developer company, and we got into this because we wanted to build apps that bring people joy. While monetizing the app is a goal, it will never be our primary motivation, and we will never rig the app for financial gain. We built this for my mother and her mother, for my aunts and cousins, for our friends who learned the game as kids and have painstakingly stuck with it for decades even though “you only win once in a blue moon”. To address your specific concerns, all non-Challenge games (i.e. Easy) are generated randomly, and are not guaranteed to be winnable. Furthermore, the code for generating random games has not been modified in any way since our initial release in January 2024. Daily Challenge games are pre-generated to guarantee a winning solution, and are available to subscribers. We’d love for you to try them out! If you haven’t already, you can try the subscription free for 7 days. As you mentioned, you were enjoying the game, and we sincerely hope that you will consider giving us another chance. If you have any other questions, we’d be happy to discuss them. Feel free to email us directly at support@kllandinc.com.

It definitely makes you work for the win!!! I wasn't kidding when I said it has haunted our family for generations... we just can't quit trying! Probably don't want to read too much into the psychology of that. Thanks for taking the time to post a review! If there's anything we can do to improve your experience, please let us know.
