  • Excellent overall, but could be even better

I love this app overall. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is for two reasons. The first is: the Catholic Faith, not to mention has a language of its own. There are words you come across in the Bible and the Catechism that you simply do not encounter very often in everyday reading. It would be great if there were a way to look those words up without having to leave the app. Seems like a minor inconvenience, but for me, it’s more of a major one. The second reason is that I really wish this app included a section for prayer. It really would make it much more of a “one stop shop” and another way for the app to be even more of a convenience to users.

  • Great App

I’ve been using this for about a year or two, and it makes the Bible and Catechism so easy to access. I am a little sad that certain features are payed features when they used to be free. Unlike for some people, that doesn’t ruin the app for me. It would be nice to have one or two free Bible studies so people can see what it’s like, but it’s not a huge deal. One thing I think would be great to add is a Bible reading plan page. It would be a page where it would have the Bible in a Year plan and maybe a few more like the four Gospels. It would also be cool if you had the ability to create your own reading plans on the app. It’s just an idea that I thought would be nice to have.

  • Cannot say enough

Father Mike has the most eloquent, respectful and most appropriate words in using examples and comments to reflect either the BIY or CIY podcast daily sessions. Man oh man, he never fails to impress me with his understanding of us, God’s people. I have learned so much and continue to learn. I have finished BIY and am currently doing CIY. I believe it is best to do the both and in this order. His humor is such an added bonus. I laugh a lot. Having a much better understanding of the Old Testament, the prophets and all of the books in the Bible, helps me better understand and appreciate Mass as well as understanding how deeply God loves us. We hear the words that God loves us, but the understanding deepens tremendously when you read/listen to Fr. Mike going through the Bible and the Catechism. Highly recommend every person on Earth to these podcast series. Thank you Fr. Mike and to you all at Ascension Press. God Bless you all!

  • Keep getting better

This app just keeps getting better. The Bible studies alone are worth every penny of the cost of the app, let alone all the other great content. I am doing BIAY for the second time and this app has the best navigation of that podcast I have found. The next one just pops up, no scrolling, no trying to remember what day you are on. I have just discovered the daily verse that you can pray with, which I really like, because it makes you really slow down and read and reread. I feel like I have actually prayed it, not just read it over and over. There are a few good Catholic apps out there but this has really risen to the top for me. Keep up the good work!

  • Looking forward to Mass with Father Mike

I am disabled no car no money but Father Mikes sermons are the best. Today he is trying to make us all believe we can be saints. Wonderful. Like a mothers love there is no circumstance than can hurt it tarnish it or break that bond . That is God’s grace . Agape. Now, when we. talk Divinity image that bond. We can’t. But it exists. My mom used to say to me when I complained about a circumstance “ consider the lilies of the field” God takes care of them and yet you are His child. Imagine the care He takes of you. So Father Mike I continue to be inspired from your garage church with college kids and I am closer to 70 than 20. My best remembrance of Father Mike delivering an anecdote to His sermon was when he was in the Newman house going up the stairs to bed. One kid said unconsciously “ night Dad” two words than made Him the happiest priest on earth. That kid saw Father Mike he gave him a nickname because of his affection. That word Dad cemented Father Mike was in the exact place God wanted him. His joy was so pure it was God giving happy a new definition. That’s how good a priest he is I can only imagine that smile as he closed his eyes. Thanks “Dad.”

  • Wow! Make straight the path

I am on Bible in Year my second time and have finished Catechism in a year.

I grew up Irish Catholic and had a strong faith that drifted in my youth. Then I started to come back to the church in the last few years. This has been amazing.

By listening to scripture and interacting my heart has been changed.

Fr Mike and Jeff Cavins are excellent guides. Getting you over speed bumps, helping to interpret in context the that can get lost or even misconstrued. I mean, let’s face it, they call it Numbers for a reason, and then you get it a second time in Deuteronomy. It’s easy to lose the forest in the trees.

However, using that example, the reason for all the numbers is that everyone matters. Even the least prominent person. He has counted the hairs on our heads. We belong to God.

All of this gets tied together, as the chapters fly by. Remember God is the one that initiates. You wanting to pray, you reading this, is God working through YOU inviting YOU to him. He has his arm outstretched to you. All you have to do, is say YES.

  • Couldn’t imagine being a day without coffee and Fr Mike!

My husband, each afternoon calls out, “Guess who is here?” my cue to grab my coffee and book and join in listening to Fr Mike. We couldn't imagine a day without fr. Mike, I'm in my second year of a (Bible in a year and the catechism, with Fr Mike. Every church should inform parishioners of these two resources! Most of us seniors, were young when the church made changes in the 60’s in a time when we were not encouraged to read the catechism or the Bible, but rather just attend church on Sunday. We truly ought to be re-educated in the incredible Scriptures to live in the light and to recognize true teachings in our churches. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • A little pricey, but well worth it!

I’ve tried the Bible in a Year and Catechism in a Year before and failed. Sometimes I would fall behind, but honestly, I just got tired of trying to find the podcast I needed that day or where we were supposed to be. I downloaded the course guide, and that was some help, but I just needed more organization in my life.

So I downloaded the Ascension App, and I don’t know how I lived without it. Every day, I just open the app, I know what my readings are and even what my daily Mass readings are. This is a one-stop-shop for practicing Catholics. The fact that you can go deeper into topics and watch related content is even better. If this app had a daily Rosary built in, I would be set!

There are sooooo many apps out their competing for Catholic’s attention right now, some free, some pay, and some are good and others are a waste of time. I would use this app every day, so it is totally worth the price. People that might complain about the price, maybe they should drop a streaming service or two, or not buy that expensive coffee every morning. It’s worth the sacrifice to have an app that organizes your spiritual study life.

  • Love it, great content. One question…

Downloaded the app for Fr. Mike’s BIY podcast. Full access paid subscriber. Works wonderfully, able to see additional comment with easy swipes. Their written support material was also very good, including their Bible. And the additional studies they offer are great! One question - I plan on starting BIY again, next month, expect to get even more out if it. But my wife plans on starting it also on her iPad - already downloaded and signed in on my account. Is there a way for two people to do BIY under one full access account but maintain separate bookmarks where they left off? A second authorized user? We could do one manually (probably me since I’m used to it) but it would be a nice feature if two could do it at their own speed. Thanks!

  • Ascension is best because..

This app has the Bible in it, but it also has the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Both were built to tell the truth and speak volumes about the reality of GOD. The intention tho, is to bring you back to GOD in His Church, which is Earth’s touch point of the Heaven waiting for His anointed ones. Who can explain it better than GOD himself? Waiting to reveal Himself through His Word, the Light of Men is His Word. It takes some time to get through it, and this is the best app for it. It’s the most thorough, complete, and honest hope of all mankind. Make a daily journey, and “feel the difference, on the inside.” Ascension is honestly the best, most scroll-worthy app of the year.
