  • Love it! But…

Why did you have to take it off of Apple Arcade?
  • Awesome

This game is a breath of fresh air! Pay and play once. I came across it while looking for a replacement for Peggle. I’ve been playing it non stop ever since! Keep up the great work!
  • Best in its genre

If you were let down by Peglin and like rogue likes and RPGs, this is a definite no brained. Controller support makes it shine. Achievements are approachable and fun. Loot makes it a blast to play, the mechanics add some nice fun flair. Fun graphics and gameplay make this a must, especially since its on sale, grab it now!

  • Wonderful concept, UI is too small

For everyone who loved Peggle. But not for anyone with bad eye sight.
  • Pass on this game for now, thank me later.

TLDR: Fun for a few hours, not fun after you beat it once due to future “difficulty” modes dumbing down an already somewhat shallow game.

There are a lot of issues in the game that needs to be addressed.

    1. Starting skills should just be selectable. It makes no sense why it is random, considering some skills are just straight up worse versions of other skills.

    2. Choosing the next stage should also be selectable. I click the map, click off the map, and at the same time it fires the hero at a random direction.

    3. “Mid-Game” loop drastically makes the game un-fun. Limiting accessory choices to just three drastically makes the game boring. It already doesn’t have a lot of depth, not a good idea to reduce it even more.

Has potential, don’t buy it now, wait until they add more to it.

Thanks for the feedback! In case it helps you enjoy it any more, here's a couple notes about your points: 1. If you open the "Set Seed" menu and just enter a blank seed, it will randomize the current starting skill. So with a couple clicks you can usually get whichever skill you want. We prefer encouraging people to experiment and improvise, but not so much that we cut off this shortcut. So feel free to use it to get whatever skill you wanted to start with quickly. 2. Sorry to hear its firing you off when you click off the map. That's certainly not the intended experience. Though we like choosing your route using the core game mechanics, as it creates more situational shot strategy to consider... i.e. whether to spend resources clearing an easy path to your preferred exit, or using mana to guarantee you trajectory (with certain skills). 3. We see the Trinket limitation at higher encore ranks helping push players really consider the synergies between trinkets and make hard choices about the optimal build rather than just gather everything up and often lose track of all the stacked bonuses. But we totally understand that's not everyone's preference! Just sharing our thought process. Thanks again for sharing the thoughtful feedback! Glad you enjoyed at least some of the time you put into it, and thanks for playing!
  • Underrated

    This game deserves more recognition.
  • play it now and thank me later

this game is wonderful. i’ve been a gamer for longer than i can remember, but i had always been reluctant to try roguelikes because even just thinking about the idea of permadeath made me anxious. but the peggle series holds a special, nostalgic place in my heart and it’s one of those games that doesn’t get mimicked often, so i thought i’d give this one a shot. and wow, i’m so glad i did! i panicked a bit when i died for the first time and lost all my equipment and loot, but something still made me want to try again. and then again. and then again. i quickly learned how addictive the “just one more round” gameplay loop of roguelikes can be, and i’ve never looked back! do yourself a favor and give it a shot like i did. you won’t regret it.

Thanks for the thoughtful and helpful review! We really hoped Roundguard could be friendly an introduction to roguelikes for folks who aren't sure about them, so its really gratifying to hear when that works for someone! And hopefully your review helps make other folks aware of the structure so they know what they're getting into as well. Thanks!
