### 4/5 — Pretty good resource

*2025-09-09, version 3.3*

I didn’t realize this is not a full version of the 1828 dictionary. It’s a useful tool, but missing some important definitions that are different than contemporary usage, such as the term “criticism” referring to Biblical study.

### 4/5 — Easy to use

*2025-08-25, version 3.3*

Easy to use, basic dictionary, but the font size is small and I would like to be able to expand it on my iPhone.

### 2/5 — Do Not Purchase in app Cross Ref

*2025-07-19, version 3.3*

DO NOT PURCHASE THE CROSS REFERENCE add ons (in app purchases)!! The download doesn’t work & they refuse to give you a refund!!! They don’t offer any support when it doesn’t work!

### 3/5 — please fix

*2025-06-28, version 3.3*

cannot increase text size

### 4/5 — Great Resource

*2024-06-19, version 3.3*

Just purchased this app because l like to go more in-depth with the meaning of words. This app helps me with that. I took one star away because it would be nice if the developers would add a “Favorite” section, where l could add words to that l want to access quickly. Other than that, l am pleased with this purchase.

### 2/5 — Terrible with the in-app purchase

*2023-08-28, version 3.3*

I’ve purchased the All Cross-Reference upgrade, but I don’t see Biblical references or dictionary references highlighted. Can you help me, please?

### 4/5 — Add the Missing D Words!!!

*2022-06-07, version 3.3*

Great app, use it all the time. About half of the D words are missing, though. Please add them!!! To the reviewer complaining about the definition of planet—dude, that IS Webster’s original definition. Lol. This app is the real deal. We’ve used it pretty much daily for years.🙌🙌🙌

### 4/5 — No Bible

*2022-02-09, version 3.3*

What happened to the option to purchase the Bible for the reference?

### 4/5 — Missing some words but very good still

*2021-08-01, version 3.3*

I have trouble with words beginning with the letter “D” but works great otherwise.

### 2/5 — Clitching, missing words, etc

*2021-07-20, version 3.3*

Clitching, missing words, etc

### 2/5 — Works part time

*2020-08-05, version 3.3*

I love this dictionary, when it works.. I had to delete it and then download it again in order for it to work right. Ive done that twice in 2 days. I guess I’ll see if it clears up and starts working right. Thank hope so, because I really like it. It’s very detailed and gives more info than a regular dictionary and it’s biblical ref are the best part, to me.

### 4/5 — Missing definitions beginning “De”

*2020-06-04, version 3.3*

I use this app, rather than using other search engines for definitions. So far, it has provided me a better understanding when looking up definitions while studying the Bible. I gave it 4 stars because definitions starting with “de” do not come up. I hope that it will be fixed soon.

### 3/5 — Ok, but prefer online ver.

*2020-04-13, version 3.3*

Still prefer online webstersdictionary1828.com which has cross references. Paid option of this would be closest to online.

### 4/5 — Great resource with a big problem

*2019-06-12, version 3.3*

I love using my 1828 as I study my King James Bible. This app makes it so easy! But, it has a major flaw. There are many words that have no definition included (such as debate, and just about every other word beginning with “deb”) and many that do not have the full definition found in Webster’s 1828. Please fix these errors!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not the real deal

*2024-07-29, version 3.3*

Didn’t even have the word “saviour” and had no Bible references for “victuals”.

### 1/5 — What’s new for me with this app

*2024-07-08, version 3.3*

is that it’s non-functional today. No update available. Disappointing.

### 1/5 — Won’t load upgrades

*2022-06-27, version 3.3*

Have tried over and over to receive the upgrade purchase. Charged and not delivered.

### 1/5 — Not Webster’s 1828 Dictionary

*2022-04-18, version 3.3*

This dictionary does not match my 1828 dictionary hard copy. I was hoping to use this as a mobile version. I’ll keep looking.

### 1/5 — No words with letters starting “deb”

*2022-01-16, version 3.3*

I was trying to look up debate. Kept drawing a blank page. Tried another DEB word like debark. Same thing. Blank page. Are you guys aware of this? I don’t know how extensive it is but everything I tried with those starting three letters was blank.

### 1/5 — Somebody ADDED to it or MODIFIED IT.

*2021-09-17, version 3.3*

This is NOT only what was in the 1828 Webster’s Dictionary. Somebody ADDED to it or MODIFIED IT. Evidence: the word Planet has recent information like “Four smaller planets, denominated by some, asteroids, namely, Ceres, Pallas, Juno and Vesta, have recently been discovered between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.”

App creators, you have lost my trust. You have NO RIGHT to modify this dictionary. That is bearing false witness.

### 1/5 — Incomplete

*2020-11-30, version 3.3*

As mentioned in some other reviews, I looked up a word that returned nothing. I understand that a work like this does take time, but please complete your work before you release it to the public. The word I looked up was ‘lasciviousness’. The work I was citing was from 1931. How is this word not in this app?

### 1/5 — Not an actual 1828 dictionary

*2020-08-01, version 3.3*

I typed in Saviour and nothing came up. The word savior came up, but savior is not Saviour. Someone changed the original to modern day terminology, and omitted Saviour which is the correct name for the Redeemer of our sins.
Savior is a rescuer of someone who is in need of help, such as drowning; one who saves.

### 1/5 — Student of the Bible

*2020-02-19, version 3.3*

I don’t know how to rate this as I just got this app and there was no definition for the first Word I looked up, which was eschatology.

### 1/5 — 1828 Dictionary

*2019-05-03, version 3.3*

How come if the app was updated 6 mo. ago, how come when I enter even simple words like: love or hope, NO definitions show up!!!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great for Study

*2024-09-12, version 3.3*

I use this application on both my phone and MacBook Air. As a minister, I often prepare lessons using Microsoft PowerPoint or Word, and while studying scripture passages, having this dictionary readily accessible is incredibly convenient. I highly recommend this product.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-01-19, version 3.3*

I use this constantly with one issue; after purchasing the two additions, to open the Scriptures referenced, I will not do so.
So my question is, is there a certain Scripture App that is required for the cross references to work?
Other than this is is excellent.

### 5/5 — Original

*2023-12-09, version 3.3*

As our history is being rewritten this seems to be consistent with the paper version of the 1828 Webster Dictionary that we have, including scripture references. Easy to use app. I love it, words mater.

### 5/5 — Biblical!

*2022-09-27, version 3.3*

Thank you guys so much for keeping this based on the Bible and how this country came about and thank you for adding the cross references what a blessing this has been to me thank you again. God bless.

### 5/5 — Excellent app!

*2019-12-09, version 3.3*

I use this app almost daily and have never been disappointed with any word definition. This is the best dictionary app on the App Store! Kudos and many thanks and blessings!

### 5/5 — Best 1828 Dict. App

*2019-07-13, version 3.3*

This is the simplest Webster’s 1828 Dictionary App. It now has Webster’s Bible references links to open the verses. Has several other useful inexpensive helps.

It is my #1 go to KJB Bible reference, bar none. The 1828 defines 95% of the KJB words. Why go to the subjective “Hebrew & “Greek”?, when the word of God has been provided in the KJB text (despite claims by “scholars” that it’s not). All that is needed is a true dictionary of unfamiliar words, read what is there in context, some prayer and humility and you will receive GREAT understanding of the word of God.

### 5/5 — Simple and helpful

*2019-02-23, version 3.3*

I really appreciate and use often.

### 5/5 — Much appreciated app icon update

*2018-11-09, version 3.3*

App icon looks much better, guys. Thanks for listening!

### 5/5 — Great dictionary

*2018-09-23, version 3.2*

Thx

### 5/5 — Great Bible Study Tool

*2017-01-28, version 2.0*

I've been looking for a good 1828 app for when I study my bible and this one is great! No fancy add on's (<-- not sure if that's correctly spelled) just short, sweet, and to the point words and definitions. I love it!
