However, in the last couple of months (honestly maybe even year) it has stopped being that easy to use, go to weather app. The radar hardly ever works, and it's no longer as accurate. I know weather changes by the second so there's never a way to be 100% accurate, but I can't keep overlooking that when the radar map is so busted. Will probably be looking for a new app, hopefully the team for 1Weather can figure out how to fix the radar, and get this app back to where it was ### 2/5 — Could have been great *2022-11-12, version 5.4.8* As a meteorologist for almost 40 years, it was encouraging to find a weather app in the US that actually did some good things. Just the observed weather section was a leap ahead of most apps by showing other data points like dew point and pressure. Lately, though, it’s quality has dropped. 1)The current weather doesn’t update consistently. 2)Recent updates have added features that do not add to the experience, like the ridiculous banners under the current weather that show sophomoric comments about air quality and visibility. If I want snark in my weather app, there are others apps that do it better, like WTForecast. 3)If listening to music or podcasts, opening this app causes the audio to stop. It doesn’t pause the audio; it does not resume when you close the app. You have to manually restart what you were listening to. 4)It has become slower at the start, probably because it has to generate all the fluff. Support (via the app help link) doesn’t respond so I don’t know if things will get better. Guess I’ll be searching again for a better weather app. ### 2/5 — Good App Gone Bad *2022-08-02, version 5.4.5* I’ve had this app for 6 years. The older version was wonderful. The widget showed up, the icons allowed for true total dark mode and severe weather notifications used to send an emergency tone. I hate this version and have for the last 2 years. But now urgent notifications properly turned on fail. The radar seems unreliable. As of today Aug 2nd, I deleted it. I really depended on emergency notifications for severe weather, especially when trees are being snapped off and blown down my road!!! ### 2/5 — The daily forecast needs work. *2021-10-16, version 5.4* I just got the app and I think the daily forecast needs work. I am visually impaired and I use voiceover to read the forecast. I have to turn the voiceover off just to get to the next day. Also the forecast needs to be more detailed and written just like you hear the forecast on weather radio. The weather channel app does that and you need to do this too for example tonight. Partly cloudy with lows around the upper 30’s. Northwest winds at 5 to 10 mph. Tomorrow mostly sunny with highs around the lower 70’s. South winds at 10 to 15 mph. That’s what makes a great weather app. Also the current weather conditions should be more specific. Especially with the wind speeds. For example wind northwest at 20 mph gusting up to 36 mph. I would appreciate it if you do these things to make the app better for me. Thank you. ### 3/5 — Used to like it *2021-08-26, version 5.2* I have used this app for years but since it has been updated I have been trying others so I can switch. I liked the way the data was presented before. It was straightforward and quickly digested. It would make more sense if the days of the week were at the top of the weather data, ABOVE the clouds. I don’t see the point of the two lines. They just take up space. The day of the week could be line one in nice large font and the date just below on line two. It has become harder to read, less intuitive, slower, and more buggy every time it is updated. The current radar is unusable on an iPhone 7. It just doesn’t bother loading or playing. It sits there with 1/10th of the first frame of the map loaded and that’s it. The hourly forecast, if it loads, is more clicks away than it has ever been. All information is in its own oversized container which forces scrolling to the left and right just to see the days’ weather. So trying to get the hourly rain forecast for the afternoon requires clicking “forecast,” then “hourly,” then scrolling down, then scrolling right! That’s 5 clicks away from my phone’s Home Screen just to find out if it’s going to rain this afternoon. All the little rain icons and “xx%” icons in the world don’t tell me whether the rains starts in the morning or at 11pm. It matters. A lot. The app gets worse every time they update it and I’m giving up. I just assume the original owners sold it off and no longer care about producing a slick weather app. It gets 2 stars because, when it does work, it seems to be more accurate than my wife’s app. **Developer response:** Dear User, really appreciate your suggestion. The radar part was glitchy, but that didn’t bother me much. With the last major update the radar was fixed, but the moon phases are gone. (At least they didn’t move the sunset times clear to the bottom like the last app I got rid of did.) So, it’s okay now, but it was better. ### 3/5 — Pretty, but buggy *2021-06-22, version 5.0.1* The app LOOKS good. But it often freezes. It often fails to update the weather to the current hour. It often defaults to a location other than the one where you are located and/or last searched for the weather. The weather map overlays often fails to fill in. To the developers: Pay more attention to technical performance. Do you need more servers to improve performance? ### 1/5 — Byeeeee! *2021-06-05, version 5.0.1* I've had the 1Weather app since 2017 and updated manually on rare occasions - I've never had any issues and recommended 1Weather to several friends over the years, and posting radar screenshots, as it's concise simplicity provided necessary info at a glance... well, last week I apparently made the mistake of updating the app, and what a mistake that was!... Big mistake! HUGE! When it comes to data information, design is important -but fancy embellishments detract and distract. I suggest involving volunteers for User Experience -cuz the razzle dazzle or whatever happen has lost me as a fan, and by the looks of the reviews many others arent happy either - I suspect the '5' star bravados are internal people, their wording reads like a promo ad - nice try though, and that should be a clue if a company has to stoop to that level to counter negative User feedback/ratings... Péssimo. ### 3/5 — Where’s NWS discussion/Lezak LRC? *2021-05-28, version 5.0.1* It’s a major disappointment that there’s no link to the forecast discussion (most important for me) and the long range has been removed. Also, I thought the old version displayed the % chance of rain as the day progressed in the hourly view. That doesn’t seem to be available anymore. For a major release, the app does not feel polished or user tested. Guess that’s the day and age we’re in 😜. Put me in the beta fam 🙏🏻 The placeholder images for different locations gave me a good laugh. Hope to see those implemented more completely (maybe seasonal photos?), it’s a nice touch. BTW your error message for too many locations is bugged. ### 3/5 — LEZAK (OR WHATEVER) PREDICTIONS GONE! *2021-05-22, version 5.0.1* This app used to have a long-term forecast contained within it which would use past weather models to predict future trends. Apparently it didn’t make the cut on this upgrade! Pity! I can choose from umpteen apps for various uses, and it’s a shame when some of the extras go away, and those “diamonds in the rough” become just a carbon-copy app! Storm was one such app! Now this! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Jimski *2023-04-22* I give up on your useless app. Your app updates are worthless and take way too long to address the problems we bring to your attention!!!! You obviously don’t even care what we’re telling you, because your App Store star rating is still only 4.3 ( I don’t know why it isn’t worse, should be 2.5 at best) and nothing has changed in the last year or more. It’s a shame, because this app was really good, several years ago, but now it’s so useless and bad, that I’m deleting this piece of crap and going to rely on some apps that are 100% better than this app. Weather Mate Pro, Weather Bug (free version) and there are others available also. You people should be ashamed of this app and really want to fix and improve it, but month after month, year after year, nothing has, or does change. Do yourself and us a favor and just get rid of this piece of crap!!!!!!! ### 1/5 — Glitch *2022-11-14, version 5.4.8* I've been using this app for a very long time. Unfortunately it won't work anymore. It was malfunctioning earlier this week and kept telling me Thursdays weather instead of the actual dau which was Sunday. So I uninstalled and redownloaded it and it now no longer shows me anything. No temperature, no precipitation percentage. All I can see is the weather alert at the top of the screen. Even the radar doesn't work properly. Can someone help me fix it? I do really love this app and would prefer to continue using it over another one. ### 1/5 — Great app no longer works *2022-11-10, version 5.4.8* I’ve used this for years it was my favorite weather app. In the past month or so all of the sudden it has these little cutesy comments that sound like a fortune cookie written by somebody who does not really speak English. They say things like your confusion is now visible due to low pollution or the latitude and longitude are visible today in the clear sky. That was just kind of funny but the app still worked. Now today,November 10, I note that it has weather for October 31. I have tried refreshing it, closing and reopening. I restarted my phone. I finally deleted it and then download it again from the App Store with the same result. ### 1/5 — Widgets don’t display anything *2022-05-03, version 5.4.4* Used the app for years, paid for the premium, but now the widget doesn’t display anything. Just blank boxes that don’t show any numbers or temperature or anything. I have emailed about once a month asking for a fix, they used to respond but now it seems the the developer doesn’t care or just cannot fix it. Don’t give me some “Thanks for your feedback” generic response to this post, please just tell us- are you going to fix the fact the widgets don’t display anything or not? ### 1/5 — Widget not loading *2022-04-03* Widget not showing any data… ### 1/5 — Mostly doesn’t work *2022-03-31, version 5.4.4* When the app WeatherLine was discontinued I tried to find something that was as elegant and as reliable. This looked ok, but lacks any customization for what you want to see, and worse, just doesn’t work. The widget has never once loaded data. Even with the app open and good connection various parts will simply never load. I paid the $9.99 subscription for an app that doesn’t even work. Super bummed. I wish apple stood by the apps in their ecosystem better. I at least expect an app to work -especially if I’ve paid money. There are lots of other apps out there. Don’t lose your money with this one!! ### 1/5 — Degraded weather app *2021-07-12, version 5.1.1* I’ve been using 1Weather for the last 4-5 years. It used to be a fantastic app, the only weather app I needed & the draw was that it would display the local temp on the widget without even having to open the app! The real-time radar was easy to use, well laid out. This app functioned well until the recent ‘updates’ within the past year. Widget has lost temp display, radar would leave squares/blocks of local areas out. Currently experiencing severe weather & the radar loop isn’t displaying anything other than locations, no rain severity levels, past/current/future path *time. Sad to say that it seems it’s time to move to another app with radar/weather functionality that works reliably when needed. **Developer response:** Hello, Thank you for the feedback. The old version was peerless. To give just one example of what is deplorable about this UI, when you look at hourly data, the temperature, rainfall probability, and wind prediction scroll independently and take up so much unnecessary screen real estate that you can’t see the time of day field. So if you are interested in knowing, when will it rain and when will the temperature peak today, you have to go back and forth between the two displays. As other reviewers have said, the prior version was thoughtful and honed, while this version is careless. ### 1/5 — Lots of Problems *2021-06-20, version 5.0.1* Moon shows instead of sun on current conditions page at 11AM. Daily & hourly forecast data hit and miss between locations in USA. Wind direction chevrons point to wrong direction. Ridiculous weather now pictures (in Arizona, shows me Washington DC cherry blossom picture). I subscribe to get weather information not novelty pictures of scenery. Weather alerts dialogue opens to show all alerts for all locations you have not just the location you have selected very difficult to manage. Deleting after 3+ years paid subscription. ### 1/5 — What a shame *2021-06-08, version 5.0.1* 1Weather has been my ONLY weather app for the better part of a decade. It always gave me the info I wanted and needed in a timely manner and easy-to-read format. The neatest feature, by far, was the local National Weather Service discussion accompanying each AM and PM forecast. I've learned so much about the nuts and bolts of weather prediction because of those discussions. Sadly, all of the wonderful details I loved about the app for years are now gone. Poof. Vanished. I won't uninstall (yet), but I also will not be opening or using again, either. I really hope this is a case of new ownership making bad decisions. It happens all the time in the real world. I can't imagine the original developers signing off on just destroying what they put a lot of effort into. It was awfully close to perfect less than a month ago. Accuweather fills 80% of their screen with ads unless you want to pay. Thank you for having minimal ads on your free app. I can get a very quick forecast without having to weed through a ridiculous amount of advertising. Thank you! Maryland is the land of weird weather at best - snow in April, high temps in February. This app keeps up with all the changes. One suggestion, and I see others asking as well - we need the ability to save as a widget. I have another weather app on the scroll right screen but we need to have yours.
