I love this app - I use ALL the time! I find its interface for drafting text better than any others, and the keyboard design and layout is the best. It synchs with Dropbox so I can add to notes from my Mac if I have to, easy to find notes or quickly create new ones. Thanks so much for creating this and for continuing to update it. Glad I found the tip jar too! 🙏🤘 ### 5/5 — Best iOS markdown editor with Dropbox support, hands down *2025-09-29, version 3.3.8* Upgrading to iOS 26 broke Dropbox support. I use this app every day and was devastated by the interruption to my daily workflow. Seeing that it hadn’t had any updates for roughly 3 years, I didn’t have much hope and started seeking out alternatives. iA Writer is what I landed on. While it’s an impressive app with some great features and polish, it was missing the ability to manually refresh files from Dropbox and the dark theme & font combo felt inferior. After several days of using the new app, the developer of 1Writer released an update that fixed Dropbox support in iOS 26 and restored my daily workflow. Thank you so much for the quick bug fix. It was a no-brainer to give the developer a $20 tip using the Tip Jar feature in the Settings screen. ### 5/5 — Really glad to see updates again *2025-09-25, version 3.3.8* This was one of the most useful tools on my iPad and iPhone. In general navigation isn’t as intuitive as aiWriter, and it isn’t as feature rich… that said it is more affordable. Still, with offline storage, WebDAV has a lot of value with a local Nextcloud install. The creator should be advertising this more. I use this with Obsidian on computer as I don’t want to pay to for Obsidian sync. ### 2/5 — Buggy *2025-08-09, version 3.3.6* The editor generally works great. But the current version when interfacing with Dropbox keeps crashing especially when switching files or directories. Very disappointing. I easily connected to my business account but it uses my dedicated “personal” folder. I have Google Drive linked with my local (iOS) file system, and 1Writer even recognizes that directory exists, but it will not access Google Drive. I've tried loads of notes apps and this is without a doubt the one to buy. My favourite features: - integrates with Dropbox so you can access and edit your notes on other devices and they're all synced (iOS, Mac, PC) - allows notes to be stored in a user-determined folder structure - this is so useful. You can even create/edit the folders in 1Writer - being updated and has a responsive developer (I reported a minor quirk and he diagnosed it immediately and fixed it quickly in the next update) - really simple effective design Excellent 5/5 ### 5/5 — Most excellent App *2026-05-26, version 3.3.8* Great App to do writing in short- form communication to share information with your contacts etc., ie. if want to send an email having copied text converted to pdf for easier communication. It just lets me edit text files on my system. I wish it were prettier and I could tweak a few visual things, but I’d much rather live with the utilitarian design that works than enjoy an aesthetic app where I can’t find anything I saved. Strong integration with the Files app, and it respects my font preferences in Settings.
