   五笔输入法自1983年诞生以来，共有三代定型版本：第一代的86版、第二代的98版和第三代的新世纪版（新世纪五笔字型输入法），这三种五笔统称为王码五笔。 目前影响最大、流行最广的是86版五笔编码方案。新设计的字根体系更加符合分区划位规律，更加科学易记而实用，拆字更加规范，取码输入更加得心应手。

   五笔优势
  1、打字如写字，轻松不用找——打出一个字的过程与手写极为相似；只打单字就可以达到60～120字的速度（远比手写轻松、快捷）；基本不用选字，可以让思维专注于要写的文章内容上。

  2、汉字拼积木，语文步步高——如果把字根比作【汉字积木】，用五笔打字就成了类似儿童拼积木一样的游戏。不但对大脑有益，同时对语文汉字教学的意义也十分重大。如【美】，是【丷+王+大】，而不是有些同学写的【丷+四横+人】。【尴】的半包围部分是尢，而并非【九】。其实，为了改掉孩子的一个错字习惯而让他抄写十遍，还不如用五笔打十遍的效果好，所用的时间也更短。用五笔打字，相当于请了一位免费的语文老师。

  3、与拼音类输入法相比——五笔只打单字，就可以达到手写无法企及的速度（打单字的速度才是真实而有意义的速度）；拼音却不得不通过尽可能多地打词语来达到相同的速度。使用者始终需要监视电脑与人脑是否想得一致，因此无法彻底解放写作者的思维与眼球。拼音与五笔，就像跑步和骑自行车的关系一样。

  5、与录音（或摄像）相比——用五笔打出的文字，可以直接阅读、编辑或打印，甚至电脑可以朗读。而录音10个小时，要听一遍必定要再花10个小时。若要整理成文字，至少还需要比10小时更多的时间。

  6、与手写类输入法相比——五笔只打单字就比手写速度快，准确率高，也更节省眼力。手写输入等于又回到了没有电脑的时代——即以手写字的原点。手写输入法只解决了电脑输入汉字的【能】与【不能】的问题，并没有考虑效率问题。即使电脑技术再发展，顶多也只能达到跟在纸上手写一样的速度，与五笔根本无法相提并论。

  7、与整页扫描识别输入相比——严格地讲，扫描输入只是处理已有（现成）文稿的一种技术手段。即扫描识别已有的文稿，——不论手写的也好，打出来或印在书上的也罢，都只是对自己或者他人已有成果的一种技术处理，并非原创性的文字生产。
