The app introduces word problems in the very first section before teaching the foundational concepts needed to solve them. For example, word problems involving fractions appear before the app ever explains how fractions work. This sets students up to fail not because they lack ability but because they were never taught the prerequisite skills. Word problems should come after the fundamentals are solidly covered — basic operations, fractions, decimals, and percentages first, then apply them through word problems.
