Upgrade system is slow and very limited, scoring is basic, and the towers just, well, don't seem to do very much, even when fully upgraded. Research system makes a difference, but at no point did I feel 'Wow'. Did the first five levels on 'Normal' - didn't feel any interest in trying 'Hard' for all of the reasons above. The 'Ai' targeting system is useless: two laser towers either side of a wall (on the enemy side of the wall) shooting passing enemies while other enemies are just lined up at the wall gradually breaking it down. This game has some real character. It’s weird. It’s grimy. And it feels like the same level of creativity we had in 2011 when creators had the tools to make interesting stuff without somebody bonking them over the head with a spread sheet. The gameplay is stimulating - they did a great job designing both the towers and the horrors that drift between them. At first I thought the camera view was restrictive, but I really don’t know what you could do about that on a smartphone without making the game impossible to play. Once you get sucked in you forget about that anyway. Five stars even at quadruple the price. It has fantastic 2d isometric graphics, a cool soundtrack and in depth sci-fi story. The level of craft going on here is superior to what is normally found in these types of games. But DLC missions? Pure trash, all level design is heavily focused on anti-air. But this game only have one anti-air tower. Most tower defense/RTS games have some what of a rock paper scissor mechanic but this one I don’t feel this is a big part of it. You just go through the motions and the levels arent challenging and the monsters don’t feel threatening. Towers basically do no damage to anything until upgraded to 3 or 4. It baffles me that this game has so many good ratings. I don't believe that a game with an “easy” setting should present a real challenge to experts of the genre. Also, I believe you should be given an option to reset your research points. Zero ads. Great campaign mode. This is how mobile gaming should be. Easy to pick up and play, but hard enough to give a good challenge but balanced enough that it’s not a major drama to put it down either lol. Tense battles and excellent weapon research tree/upgrade paths keep you on the edge of your seat as you try to defend your command centre from the demonic space hordes. I’ve had it for over five years. It’s a wonderful throwback game and I love how you have no ads on micro transactions just raw gameplay and earning everything you have.
