In my experience I have only once had a driver not "show", and that was because I missed the call and the driver didn't wait or pick up the phone when I called back immediately (the replacement cab I requested arrived within 5 min). Whether I reserve a taxi in advance or request one immediately, the drivers have always been very punctual (usually earlier than the estimate), courteous, and know their way around the city (which isn't always the case with uber drivers) I have found the app itself pretty basic but havent had any issues with it. While buses and biking are my primary means of getting around the city, when I need a cab I only use this company and app. ### 4/5 — Easy, time-saving, and you can specify cab body type! *2015-09-19, version 1.4* This app potentially saved me from either missing my flight or making a friend unhappy. I needed to return a bike to a friend and then immediately schlep myself and my baggage to the airport—and I had a pretty short timeframe in which to do it. So I knew I needed a van. Lyft plus was too long a wait, and when I called Freedom Taxi, they said they didn't have any vans. Fortunately, I was able to download this app, register an account (no payment method required!), and book a minivan taxi within minutes. The driver was friendly, and I was able to return the bike and get to the airport in well under an hour! I even had a couple minutes to stop at the food co-op to quickly buy sandwich. Posting from the gate where I'm now waiting. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the estimated arrival of the cab was 3 minutes and it took closer to 10 minutes (maybe 7 or 8). Otherwise, a fantastic app! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Don’t Bother *2023-08-23* This app, at best shows you cabs in your area. However, it’s nearly impossible to book one. When you do book one it confirms you have a cab coming but it later says the cab is no longer available. I think what happens is if the cab sees a fare on the way to picking you up, they take it and let you standing around waiting and being late for appointments. Highly frustrating and worthless. ### 1/5 — Does not work *2017-11-20* Ever since the new update it doesn't work at all. It tells you a cab is on the way and the ETA along with a detailed text. Then a minute later it says "All drivers are busy. Please rebook in a few minutes." The cab never comes and I end up walking - even seeing empty cabs on my way there. I have tried on several different days and can't get a cab. The old app worked perfectly. I don't know why they changed it. ### 1/5 — Failed to pick me up. *2016-05-15* There is no advantage to using this app vs simply calling the call center. I was at the Mann Center and used the app 10 minutes before the show ended. Although I received a confirmation of a cab on the app itself, it never came. Furthermore, I never received a call or text in an attempt to pick me up. The fact that you do not get a direct contact for the driver handcuffs the customer, and I'll assume someone else got my cab. Convinced all these good reviews are BS. ### 1/5 — Absolutely useless *2015-09-03* I have tried using this app multiple times and I actually get a cab maybe 1 out of 10 times. The arrival time is never accurate and I have waited over half an hour for a cab I was told was going to arrive in 5 minutes. Multiple times, the app has cancelled my trip. This system is completely unreliable. If you call the support line, you will get an extremely rude person who will be no help whatsoever. This company will never get my business again. ### 1/5 — Not helpful *2015-04-28* This app was not helpful Uber is in Philly, and when using the Uber app, when a fare is accepted, I get notified who my driver is, an ETA which has been reliable, and I can see in the app where the driver is. In this app, I was given a time of arrival time of 7pm at 7:01pm. By 7:10 there still was no cab. The app does not allow me to track the cabs progress. I found this a poor competitor to other services currently available. ### 1/5 — Cursed at by driver *2015-03-08* I have used this cab company for 4 years in Philly but they will never see my business again. Used the app since no one was answering the phone number displayed on all their cabs - after waiting 20 minutes I got in a different cab for this same company and canceled the app request. 2 minutes later I am called and the response was "thanks for wasting my f&$@ing time!" Fix your app - give a window when the driver will arrive and get cancellations out immediately. Fire rude employees who don't know how to speak to a female. Pathetic! ### 1/5 — Rude rude rude *2014-12-12* This is "suppose" to be an all city taxi meaning they service everywhere around Philadelphia but this is not true unless you are in center city or live there good luck getting a cab they take about two hours to arrive and most of the drivers are very rude and not to mention racist there has been plenty of times where Iv tried catching a cab in the city and experienced being skipped over just so they could pick up a near by white person thumbs down all the way. ### 2/5 — Nearly useless *2019-12-29* I like that I can enter a ride number, once in a cab, to set up payment before I get to the end of the ride. Other than that, the app stinks. It can take ages to find a ride, and sometimes it never does. Then, half the time the driver cancels before showing up. Sometimes, you get the cab, get in, and the app doesn’t notice, so that you have to pay normally anyway. I just want an experience like Uber that isn’t so exploitative of it’s drivers, but this isn’t that. ### 2/5 — What's the point of this app when taxi drivers won't commit to its use *2015-03-16* This app is a dice roll. You put your origination and your destination, ask for a cab. In theory a dispatcher assigns you a cab & you are prompted with the cab's tag and arrival time. When it works it's great. More often than not, the driver assigned to you gets hailed by someone else and leaves hanging as you watch the status change from confirmed to assigned and then back to confirmed. Not reliable enough to use regularly. ### 3/5 — Can’t correct address, can’t dial driver *2018-11-11* In theory, this is a Dandy little app, and it’s lovely to see the icon of the cab and see exactly where it is. However, when you tell the cab where to come, you can’t type in an address, you just move a dot on the map. It got the address wrong and I had no way to correct it. When I tried to dial the cab through the app, it told me I could only dial from the phone I registered, and I was in fact using that phone. The cab couldn’t call me either. By luck we met at a stoplight. The app would be great if you could correct the address and if you and the cab could really communicate. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Very helpful app *2022-08-30* Having this app made our visit to Philadelphia so much nicer. Taxis are definitely cheaper than Uber and I trust taxi services more. The only issue we had was that sometimes using the location feature for where to get picked up put us in the wrong place but it was t too far off. Great update! ### 5/5 — Great service and arrives fast *2015-03-04* I've used this service a number of times lately and it's been very helpful. The cab drivers arrive earlier than I schedule for the pick up roughly by 15-20 minutes ahead of time. They even call me on my phone to double check to make sure I still need a cab minutes before pickup. I also love the fact that if I need to cancel a reservation, there is no charge for cancelation. ### 5/5 — Frequent Philly visitor *2015-01-16* This app is the BEST. Historically I've experienced up to a 2 hour wait at our job site. No longer. We used this app 5 days in a row and it was incredibly successful. Short waits, constant status updates and phone calls to announce the cab's arrival. We ordered 2 cabs on the last day to haul 4 of us and all our luggage to the airport. Dispatch called to verify I hadn't accidentally ordered two cabs. When I explained the situation, she modified it and sent us a can. Highly recommended! ### 5/5 — Fast + convenient! *2014-11-14* This app makes it easy to order a cab right from your iPhone. I've used it about 10 times since the app came out and each time the car was here in 5 minutes and was usually nice and clean. Now that there's a good app for taxis it would be silly to pay more for an Uber limo or to risk life & limb hiring an uninsured "ride-sharer" aka gypsy cab. ### 5/5 — Never had a problem. Cabs usually arrive in 5 min. *2014-11-13* I've read some negative reviews about this app but I've been regularly using it at least once a week since the summer and have never had any issues. The cab driver usually calls me when he's approaching and the average wait time is about 5 min. The longest I've ever waited is 15 min. I've also used the app to order a cab the night before a 6am flight and the cab driver arrived promptly at 4:30 am without any additional prompting. This app is just as effective as uber's but saves you a ton of money. Are you really ready to shell out $50 to get across town? The app works pretty good S intended , but I noticed about 15 minutes after creating an account and my first ride I started getting text message spam.
