Not as good as it used to be
Used to be perfect. Updates have made it worse. When crossing off an item the whole list scrolls to the bottom - this is a bug that didn’t used to happen. New interface when adding items isn’t as easy as the old one. Keep it simple please!sjevduckenxg
No longer easy to use
I too have used this app for years. But with this latest version I find it very irritating to use. The shame no longer works even though it’s still shown in settings as being selected. I absolutely hate the placement of the text box to add items— it obscures what I am trying to use the app for and that is to shop for a list of items that I have already added. I also can no longer find a way to edit my master list of items for things I no longer will buy. It used to be very clear how to delete things from the master list, but now I can not for the life of me figure out how to do that. Please fix these very annoying thingsShow lessSlggoz
Used to be easier, hogs screen
The ‘add’ item feature at the bottom is completely in the way, stealing screen real estate. But what’s more frustrating is trying to close out of it after you’ve added an item to your list. Unless you tap the tiny strip above this field just so, it either opens up the title of the list for editing, or doesn’t fully move the field out of the way, thereby covering up the bottom of your shopping list. The only way to fix it is to pretend you’re adding another item & then close it again. Such a waste of time! And what happened to the edit button to delete the saved items you no longer need? I love this app. I have used it for quite a few years now. I loved the old version but I also love the update you did. It is a lot easier now to cross off the items. Click on the items you want marked off then click on the tick top right corner to take them off your list. Much easier than the old shake your phone to delete the items. Please fix this app!
Designers, please use this app and you will see that it needs fixed. Once I add an item to my list, I have to close out of the app and reopen to see my list correctly. When I tap the top of the screen to close the add item menu, it pops up with the change color option or my phone's notification screen. There's no clear way to close that add item menu. If I do get the menu to close without having to close the app, it doesn't show me the bottom of my list, so I have to close the app. This is not user friendly. I agree with many of these other reviews. I've used this app A LOT for a few years, it was great and simple, and now I wish I didn't update it. If only I could go back! It's much harder to use. I've tried to get used to it, but it should work better. It wasn't broken, the previous app layout worked great, now it's just frustrating and I'm shopping around. Please change it back. Practical app
Sad to read all the whinging reviews - this is a great app. I’ve been using it for years, and appreciate the developer creating something ad-free and up to date - huge thanks! It’s still very simple, and I love the completion list from items I’ve added before.
Many of the complaints are nit-picking and many are not an issue on larger phones (I can easily tap outside the keyboard to dismiss it). Equally I can delete items in pick list by sliding left (like in the mail app).Show less365nice
Used to be easier, better
This app used to be great but in an attempt to add stuff or spruce it up you’ve made it worse. There’s no need to have the ability to add things to the catalog at the bottom while you’re shopping. That all was best on the main first catalog screen when you’re at home composing your list, not when you are out shopping. Also, you used to be able to easily clear part of your list as you cross things off. It made viewing a long list easier if you could remove what you have already crossed off. When I’m shopping with a long list, maybe two times or so I would want to clear the crossed off items and condense the list to only what I still need to purchase. It’s used to be clear how to do it. Only by reading another’s review did I figure it out. Now there’s a cryptic check mark that clears the crossed off items. Great. I still have that function from a previous version, but why hide it as an unmarked, untitled check mark to clear. User testing clearly not applied on this version. Get rid of the bottom add items and keep it where it was before... on the main item catalog list. There’s no need to add items to my catalog while shopping. And maybe make it clear what that check mark does. Overall the app is good and I use it every week. It was just easier and made more sense before. Thanks for a cool app.Show lessKidbazooka
Does what I need it to do
Just what you need from a grocery list with the ability to keep multiple lists separate but accessible at the swipe of a finger.
However, the latest update has made it difficult to remove items not used in months with the simple cleanup selection at the bottom of the screen. The very last item on the list covers this option so all you can do is select and unselect your last item. Hope that gets fixed because it was a handy clean up tool.Show lessgreta-jones

Never written a review before, but I have to add my voice here. This used to be a PERFECT app; latest update is a step BACKWARD in every respect! PLEASE bring back the old version!!! Specifically: get the messy Add-Item interface off the page, restore the strong (non-pastel) colours (key for those of us who think in colour!), bring back the ability to riffle through notes, retore ability to delete items from list of suggestions. These were great features — WHY HAVE YOU ELIMINATED THEM??? What made this app special was its utter visual simplicity. Been recommending it for years to anyone who'd listen — but now it's no better than all the others. Seriously people, enraging your core users is the quickest way to kill your business DEAD. I miss the old version!
I realize it’s always a little difficult to accept change. However, I’ve used this app consistently for 2+ years. It’s easy to use and was SUPER helpful. But part of what I liked was the ability to delete crossed out items. Now that this feature is gone, I may look elsewhere. I’ve accidentally deleted my list now several times as well. The other recommendation to move the “delete” button down on the menu would help. But please bring back the “delete crossed off items”! Then I’d give this app five stars! ThanksShow lessMommyB34
