Oi

I was frustrated with DropBox since I had to move from MobileMe iDisk where I was able to share a folder very easily with my students. If I wanted I could allow them to edit the files. However Apple closed down iDisk option after moving to iCloud and I needed an online storage. So I used DropBox. That was not really versatile though. Now SugarSync gives me the ability to do the same. I will use it for a year and see how it works. If I'm happy, I will upgrade to the business package.

Nice App

If it can provide a 'wifi sync only' option, it will be great.

Awesome

It's a great system. All the folders on your computer that you want to access anywhere you just select and they're available to view on any device anywhere. Only issue for me is the photo folder for iPhoto library is not easily useable when sugar sync is accessed on other computers or mobile devices. It would be great if sugar sync had a photo viewer that could decipher the iPhoto filing method and present our photos to view as iPhoto does. Also sugar sync is quite slow to upload files and slows down your computer a lot when uploading. On balance I still give it 5stars for keeping my files safe but a photo viewer integrated with iPhoto would make me happier. If not an idea might be for Apple iPhoto on iPhone to have a tab to access photos from your own selected cloud storage provider that would be cool too.

Not there yet

I've been using this app and its previous iterations for a couple of years now on a Touch and iPad. The idea is a good one, but it's never quite delivered with seamlessness or intuitive use. Getting files to sync across devices is the easy bit. What i want is to be able to edit/manage those files on any one of my devices which this seems to struggle with. In this latest version the "open in" feature doesn't work for .epub files.

Makes the IPad usable as a laptop replacement

After messing around with Dropbox, ifiles, fileapp, and file browser finally got around to Sugarsync and have to say that for me it's the best option. Not only do I get effectively free on-line backup but the fact anything I change on the IPad will be synced back to the PC and vice versa is a killer feature. I use Quickoffice connect with Sugarsync and the only griped I have is the Sugarsync app doesn't make it easy to edit off line copies of your files and then sync back (hence 4 stars not 5). In fact the best solution I have come up with is to just open the files in Quickoffice save local copies to the IPad work off line saving locally and copy the files back to my Sugarsync store when back online again using drag and drop from within Quickoffice.

Great app though so please don't take this as too big a negative and keep improving it thanks.

Great service!

I've tried a few and this is the best, the only thing stopping it getting 5 stars is the crashing on resync and when trying to open certain files (excel) on my iPad. Also having trouble adding devices ie can't see my iPhone from my iPad and vica versa! I'm sure the next release will sort these issues. Keep up the great work!

Absolutely excellent!

I don't know why Drop Box gets all the attention. SugarSync is a far more useful product with many more options. The sync functions are completely integrated and reliable and you have complete control over what syncs where.

This iPad app really makes it perfect. I've been using it for several versions now and it has worked flawlessly for me. I am a college professor and it is great to be in a class and have something unexpected come up in discussion that I have a file for on my computer, and then to use the SugarSync app to open the file and email it to my students in real time. 30 seconds later my students are looking at the file on their computers and we're talking about it. This is what technology is supposed to do for us, and SugarSync has made it a reality.

It's even better still, now that other apps, like QuickOffice Connect and Readdle Docs directly integrate with SugarSync. Also, I love keeping only my most used MP3s on my iPad, but being able to stream anything from my entire collection with the SugarSync app. This is the best option out there for having access to all your regular computer files from your iPad.

Update: It just keeps getting better. The latest version adds even more features, and is even more useful. I guess I can't give it more than five stars, but consider it a 5+ star app / service in my book.

Enjoyable

So far, this app seems to function well and do everything it is meant to do. I have a desktop, two laptops (for myself and my work colleague), an iPad and an iPhone and I have synced my most used work files across all platforms. In addition, I synced to the "cloud" every single file that I have created for my design work and every admin file created by my company in the last three years. I was not quite ready for the five days it has taken to upload 32 gig of data, but now it's there, I feel confident that I have a permanent, up to the minute backup of all my work from all my computers in a place that's safe from bush fires, power spikes, hard drive failures, floods, break-ins etc.

Waste of time

Rubbish software. Every time I log in it just crashes. Even restarting my phone does not work. Can't access my important work docs as I thought I'd be able to on the road. After paying for the 60gb service I am forced to switch to another provider and transfer all my information across to them (drop box) hopefully their iphone software will work reliably.

A very, very good app

This beats all current "cloud" apps. Works particularly well with iPad. I hope more apps allow you to open up your data. Thanks
