  • Great App

I don't know why people rate this app so poorly. I use the Mandarin mostly and it is an excellent tool. My daughter who is 2 years of old repeats 1-10 in Chinese from listening.
  • A very useful app

This is a very good app, I find it useful to play the spoken translation and then read from the text. I think that what some people are expecting is for the spoken bit to be comprehensible to someone else which is a bit hit and miss even with a dedicated machine. One bug is in the spoken french where the accents in the words are spoken out, so just ignore them.

  • Good but not perfect

Useful, simple and neat, but the standard of the voice is dreadful and very much needs improving. Until it's improved, turn the phone round and let people read the translation. Assuming they can read, of course.
  • Translator

Quality is poor, we know that, but even the dictionary is flawed. I translated an english sentence to french and the work 'live' was translated as 'live' with a slight accent. Developer needs to slow the translation down, and check the vocab.
  • Annoyed

Not practicle when sound can't be heard without headphones
  • translater - this app could be great

I was excited to see this language-barrier busting app - what a concept, this could be, if perfected, the ultimate travel companion and yes, even a "killer app". It is clearly in the evolution phase but the foundation is good. Here's what it needs to be perfect: 1) better, more authentic phrasing with the spoken voice (what you have so far is a "good start") 2) the ability, similar to snap-tell, to take a photo of a travel or road sign and have it translated after selecting the source language. 3) the ability to select a source language, have a native speaker speak into the iphone, then send the file off to your servers for a translation. 4) a button on the main menu to quicky switch the source and target language (to facilitate #2 and #3). 5) a menu of commonly used travel phrases that can be quickly selected, so I dont have to type out "where is the restroom?" each time.

  • The best translator out there

It's 95 % complete because it needs the Japanese voice translation,I hope that's being worked on right now.
  • Pretty good for English to German

I speak English as a first language and pretty decent German, but I am always looking to improve. This app did a pretty good job on the translations, and did not give me glitches like on other langs...The voice is terrible, but what do you really expect for 3 dollars...
  • Good app, suggestion

I can speak both Chinese and English, this works great! If you can make this app directly translate your voice without typing the sentence into the other laughish, then this will be truly amazing, I would pay $20 for that! I know it's possible, because in the app "voice call" " google" your can speak and the iPhone can recognize it.

  • Ok, i guess...

It translates well enough, but the voice is too digital so its kinda hard to understand. Also for some reason it doesn't play on the speaker, so translating to people would be kinda awkward with headphones.

If a few updates could be available to fix this then it would be at least a 3 star average app.

Other than that it still translated well on screen and worth the money for future updates.
