  • Disappointed

Used the “older” version for years and was really easy, fun and efficient! (Back from 2017 if I can remember) And all that while being free as well!
But everything changed a while ago now and not for the best.
Used to be able to make awesome plans according to your goal, devotion and level of fitness but now it’s all gone and everything offered is very average unfortunately…
Still trying to find another app as good as the older version was but can’t find any

  • Used to love this - now not so much

I miss the "white boards" workouts where we could get a preview of the workouts. And I know I'm not the only one. It sucks that Nike is not listening to user feedback, it's frustrating and deceiving. The new video workouts make it impossible to listen to music because of the computer generated voice always talking and distracting you. Would not recommend at this point. Unfortunately, this used to be a good app.

  • Only thing that motivated me to start

This is the best workout anything I’ve ever used! I was becoming more out of shape than I’ve ever been. I saw that this was rated highly and that it was free- the challenging videos, supportive trainers, the ability to play your own music, the different kinds of workouts (yoga, strength, cardio, stretching etc) so that I can take care of all parts of my body have encouraged me to work out more than o ever have in my life! Even more than when I was in college to get a dance degree. I am feeling so much healthier already after working out about 6 or 7 weeks- and I actually look forward to workouts because they feel so good now- where they used to be a chore that I hated. I liked Nike before but now I love them because of the power they’ve given me to take my life back. The workouts have also given me energy to get my life together- be a better wife, clean the house more, and take care of myself. Thank you Nike!!!

  • Workout Format Changed

I’ve had this app for years, long before COVID, and I miss the old format. I liked it when I could preview a workout before actually doing it so I could see what I would be doing and also make the judgement on if I would be able to complete the workout. I don’t like the videos AT ALL. You can’t even see what the moves are so you can make sure your doing them right before you start or be able to pause the workout and review the move before you resumed the workout like you could before. Also, the fact that when you connect Apple Watch you now only see estimated calories burned and heart rate compared to before where you could look at your watch in between movements and see what’s coming next along with how many more movements had to do before you were finished. This app used to be amazing now it’s just okay.

The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because the workouts are good and there are a lot of options, if not for the good workouts I would give 1 star since the formatting years ago was so good and helpful.

  • Just keeps getting worse

When I first started using this app it used to:
    Instantly open
    Not require an internet connection
Send haptic feedback to my watch during a workout
Now it sits on a blank screen for up to 30 seconds, forces you to do a workout online and my watch no longer tells me when a set is finished. Also the calorie measurement doesn’t work. Right before the end of my workout it shows ~50-55 calories burnt but when the summary screen shows it says ~10-20. But instead of fixing all these problems they go ahead and add special audio with no way to disable it. Now when I’m doing crunches the instructors voice annoying flys around my head rather than staying fixed. What will they do next?

  • Recent update - crashes

The app has been good until recently when there are numerous crashes when using the app. Some saved workouts completely disappeared and when attempting to start them nothing happens.

Also missing the previous neutral voice trainings like yoga with straight to the point instructions . The new live yoga or training narrated/recorded videos might be good at the first go but then when watched/practiced repetitively become annoying as you need to hear same stories over and over again. Please bring back the little thumbnails you used to have and graph showing exercise progression, those were great!

  • Disappointing changes

I have been using this app on and off for 6 years, and up until recently I loved it. However, the recent changes made in removing adaptive and personalised plans, as well as the ability to pre-screen workouts has ruined this app for me. For a company that prides itself on inclusivity and empowerment, the most recent changes have left me feeling an isolated and disempowered user.

I fell in love with the ease with which I could workout, with the plans taking so much of the guess work out of it for me. I have joint hypermobility and have a plan that responded and adapted to my feedback helped me learn to listen to my body and how to interpret what it was telling me! Then, being able to pre-screen the workouts also helped as I would know in advance to avoid a certain movement or avoid a particular workout altogether. It was marvellous and helped me to be able to become a healthier person.

However, all of this is now a moot point because the 2 most useful features, and the features that drew me in and kept me in, have been removed and any replacement offered is vastly inferior. PLEASE Nike, reintroduce these features, or even just the pre-screening, it makes so much difference to so many people! We want to continue supporting you and using the app, but you need to understand what you customers require of the app.

  • Used to be my favourite

This app used to be amazing and I still think it is incredible that they provide all these work outs for free but I hate the update! It’s seems as though they are trying to replicate the Apple workout app with the video/class format. The best thing about this app was the ability to turn off the guidance and just have the timers, I do the same set of workouts every week so I know what the exercises are now and I don’t need the voice over telling me what to do every time, it’s annoying. I would understand if they had a mix of video & the old format to please every one but converting to completely video was a huge mistake.

  • 251 Short Workouts. 89 Whiteboard.

Those numbers show the changing priorities of the app makers. Just felt a need to update this review because they now seem to have gotten rid of some excellent workouts - including all the ones using the row machine. Bring those back please!

While I appreciate you trying to add in more workouts that are accessible for all athletes, does that really mean you have to mess with the previous workouts and formats that were loved by so many of your users? I also can’t help but notice how many of the newer workouts are extremely short (less than 10 minutes). I’m a trainer and understand the science behind quick movement breaks throughout the day, but this is excessive. Seems like these short videos are taking up way more memory/data on the app than some of the older, superior workouts.

**** I’ve been a long time committed user of the app, but I hate that you’ve recently converted all the older workouts into video format! As someone who likes to preview my workout and know exactly what moves are going to be included, this new format makes that almost impossible. Please consider at least including a list of the moves that will be in the workout that can be viewed before starting the video.

  • Used to be better

I’ve been using this app for about five years and all of a sudden my favourite routines have disappeared. The new videos/workouts being produced feature hyper-positive, often annoying trainers. All the workouts now also seem to have background music which is too overwhelming for someone with sensory sensitivities. The workout I used to enjoy was a gentle Restorative Yoga session with zero ego in the guidance but it no longer exists. I have appreciated the years of guidance in this app but obviously they've narrowed their appeal and I’ll have to go elsewhere to find what I need.
