  • Nice - Very Nice - 5 Star RPG

I have been playing computer RPGs since Ultima I on the old Atari computer (Lord British's first RPG if I remember correctly) and this one is just as solid. This is no graphic glamour rich RPG (like you get in Underworlds) but it has more than enough to deliver. It has all the aspect of this genre of game well intergrated and easy to tap through. The recent update displaying the gold amount smoothed over the only bump in the road I encountered. If you have never tried the genre of game before, this may not be your best first choice. You have to be expecting the grind required for this genre of dungeon questing in order to enjoy this one. If you are going to invest the time and money for dungeon questing, then you should get this one and Underworlds. You will have hours and hours of questing, killing, puzzles, mazes and fun. Bottomline, well worth the price of admission.

  • Near Perfect

Not only is The Quest the best iPhone RPG I've played, it also ranks in my all time top five, right next to Morrowind, Oblivion, FF7, and Neverwinter Nights....And that's saying something!

Cannot wait to replay it after I solve all the quests and travel to all areas of the map. I hope expansions and improvement keep coming out for years.

10/19 update: am I the only user who's update will not download? I even hooked up to iTunes and tried it that way (as per the error message recomendation), and it still won't install... Has Redshift released yet another half-@ssed update? 

  • Great game, great developers!

First off, if you're even thinking of picking up this game, do it. Card game is extraordinary itself, vast areas to explore and Chillingo actually does listen to the customers and make changes for the better. If you have Pocket God, you know how well they update and The Quest is very much updated to the players request in the same fashion. A must buy for any FPS, RPG, and Sandbox type of gameplay, I rarely give out 5/5 stars, and actually waited for about a month and a half to see how the updates are and they do an excellent job.

  • TES for the ipod

This game is just pure fun. If you like the elder scrolls or any other game of that kind this is a game for you. It's grafics are great considering how big and exspansive the world is, though the world can be a bit small after a while(about 30 hours or so of doing quests and such you'll know a lot of the map) There are some down sides though, first of all is the fact that gaurds don't help you in a fight and the fact that the always know when you've committed a crime even when know one is around. Also the combat has a few flaws, one is that running away from a fight is a bit to hard without teleport or recall, and even when that spell is cast you are still hit by the enemy one last time (resulting in death if you are trying to escape so you don't die) And the biggest problem I have with this game is the quest system, it needs to update after you have done part of it, or at least tell me where to go or what to do. So in all this game is THE BEST rpg on the iPod or iPhone and is a must buy.

For those people that want everything a consul or pc game has, please remember that this is only a APP FOR THE IPHONE or IPOD, it's great already you dont need to ask for so much stuff!!!

PLEASE READ SOME Of These reviews chillingo, many are good, even though the one that says to put a question mark over the place to get a quest it dumb(isn't that from runescape????!!!!)

  • Deep, immersive RPG

I have been playing this non-stop for about two weeks now, and have probably only finished about half of it so far. This is a full-fledged RPG with a non-linear plot and many sidequests, many of which can be solved in different ways (which will affect how your character progresses). The first-person perspective makes it very immersive, and the graphics (although not cutting edge) really draw me in (the lightning during a thunderstowm particularly impressed me). Movement is grid-based with turn-based combat, leading to very tactical combat which I like (fans of pure hack-and-slash may be less impressed). If you're looking for a very rich world with a detailed story, this game is for you, particularly if you like a huge variety of abilities, races, classes, and choice. I am truly addicted to this game! Added: I've finished this twice now; the first time I played non-stop for about four weeks, and it has been absolutely great. I easily spent over 50 hours on this and then went back to play again with a different character to make some different choices. The last update added some new quests and areas to the original game; it's great to see the developers committed to this great game. More important, there are now two expansions, "Ice and Fire" and "Hero of Lukemorye I" (and more to come), so you can continue with your character into new and more challenging lands and quests, providing a really huge amount of content to explore.

  • Please, please, please update!

Great game. Absolutely engaging and will eat up all your spare time. Ideally, the story could be rewritten to provide a more satisfying narrative - a lot of the actions and dialogue don't really add to the story, per se, but simply allow you to complete a task. However, despite not being a literary masterpiece, it has managed to entertain me for hundreds of hours. I've played several characters through both the base game and the Islands expansion... But apparently we have to wait on an upgrade to the basegame to play the new HoLI expansion. I love this game but this wait is just cruel! ;)

  • Worthwhile dungeon crawler.

I was really surprised to find a RPG of this quality available for the iPod.

This game is styled like a classic dungeon crawling game. You get to make your own character and customize his or her skills, defining what kind of weapons, armor and magic they can use. The skill system is very similar to the game Morrowind or Oblivion, except you level up based
on experience points you earn from combat and quests. The graphics are crisp and look good on the small screen. The controls work great and the menus are layed out well.

I would often have trouble getting lost in the older dungeon crawler games, but in The Quest, they give you a very useful map system and consistant naming of locations. You also have a useful quest log, and you should have no problem picking the game back up again if you haven't played for a while.

The Quest has good dialog, interesting locations, a fun alchemy system and LOT'S of quests. I would really recommend it if you're a fan of dungeon crawlers. If not give The Quest lite a try first.

    Really worth the money!

  • Awesome Old School RPG!

How can I emphasize how much I enjoy this game? I'm constantly considering deleting it from my phone because I play it so often; that's how much I love it! It's quite fun. If you love games like Morrowind, Oblivion, or the classics like Eye of the Beholder, you'll love this one. The story is well-done as is the dialog and there's a lot to explore. It's not perfect: certain quests (finding the orc's idol, for instance) are way too frustrating without some sort of guide, the attack button is too close to the movement buttons, which means you might accidentally attack villagers, and it's much too slow on the default setting (have it set to fast). It's a great game though. It's definitely not a kiddy RPG in difficulty, language, or story. I highly recommend it to anybody who likes these types of games. At $5.99, it's quite a steal!

  • A Great Game for RPG lovers, especially Elder Scrolls Fans

This is a fantasitc portable RPG in the vein of traditional Western RPGs, featuring an open world and highly customizable characters & skillsets. It's style is not unlike The Elder Scrolls series, specifically the earlier games or the Travels portable editions that have been around. I wouldn't recommend this game for people who are used to or only like JRPG type games, such as FF, Persona, Dragon Quest, etc, it's not that type of RPG. The controls and menu navigation could also be a little better, anf the learning curve is a little higher than it needs to be due to not explaining very well what all of the stats do, but if you'd played this type of game before much of it is obvious, and so for the overall experience I still give it 5 stars.
