  • Way better than surfline

The forecast is accurate most of the time, and that’s from someone who lives in a very fickle and spotty area. Much better of a deal than surfline is. If you’re between the two, this is definitely the better option in my opinion. My only issue with it is that sometimes the cams go down for weeks on end and I have to go to the websites the cams are streamed from to see the live feed.

  • What a con

The recent change to remove webcams from people who don’t sign up for their pro subscription is a real error on the part of MSW.
With truly poor accuracy on surf predictions already the cams were the key element to checking the surf from a distance without this this app has nothing to offer… ride times and wind can be gained from many other apps/sites as can wave buoy info so I will be cutting out the middle man and deleting this now and I would advise others to also!
Luckily I have direct access to one of the 2 cams I mainly use via another web site and I’d encourage all others to search out direct connections wherever possible rather than pay for a subscription!
Why do this and lose you advertising revenue? Ridiculous!!!!!!

  • Pro version

Just upgraded and features allow decent advanced planning for trips. Well worth it and great value
  • Ace App

This app helps a beginner like myself understand when I should be heading out for a surf … and it’s been accurate in its forecast .
  • Great app

This really is a very helpful app. As someone very new to paddle boarding and kayaking this has been so useful fir the tides and wind speed etc. It even gives sunrise, sunset etc.
I would however have given 4.5 * if possible though, just because as a newbie to all of this. It would be nice if there was an explanation as to what each thing surf swell etc mean in real terms and how this effects sup users surfers etc. Also how it can be flat but with red wind speeds.... this I find very confusing. I've even tried your online and page but it seemed to just refer to surfers who actually want those conditions... more explanation would be fantastic please :)

  • Maps to spots are rad!

Really appreciate the maps and overview of spots. Growing up in a heavily localized area you were told to keep quiet about spot locations. You folks have opened the doors and changed the game. Don’t have to waste hours trying to locate spots anymore. Times are changing and folks are being more open with their local surf breaks. Ignore the haters and keep up the good work

  • Love It

Pros: long forecast, pretty accurate, mostly free, chill, doesn’t list a lot of local spots on map (have to look them up by name) which forces you to get to know the local community and culture more personally (if you weren’t already) if you want to know the spots, the name of the app

Cons: No surf cams, no local/written reports; just data, misleading star ratings for spots on any given day (local reports or better system would give more relative/subjective ratings to the individual swell, could be accompanied by an objective universal rating),

Overall, great app, but has much opportunity to grow.

  • Magic Seaweed Surf Forecast

The best Surf forecast I have used.
I like the realistic wave height and tide times / weather all in one place. The Stormrider spot guides are often really useful for new locations. Surfcams are great for last minute checks but knowing if a current report without the cam is based on solid eyeball would be reassuring. I have driven hours in the past, only to find the gorecast was a big fat lie... not MSW though- high confidence in most forecasts... we are talking about mother nature after all!!! 😁

  • Love the app, just one thing…

So I haven’t used magic seaweed a whole lot but I do think it’s very useful for finding surf locations. One thing I have noticed is that whenever you are reading the description of a beach is that if there is an apostrophe in a word, it’s replaced by symbols. Specifically †and a trade mark symbol. Here’s an example. If there's the word “aren’t” then it would be changed to “arenâ€TMt”. I find it distracting and it makes the text hard to read. Other than that it’s a great app! But please do fix this bug!
