DrugDoses User Reviews

Fantastic, use it daily

Use it daily working in pediatric ICU, the standard reference

Perfect phone reference

No fuss drug reference for Paeds and adults. App based reference replaces the original small book format and improves on usability with out all the old coffee stains on it. I use it several times a week in my practice and exam study.

Format is terrible

Info appears to be reliable.
The multiple drug doses are all crunched together in a paragraph form w/o spacing.
This makes it much more to read than when using an outline form.
Was the writer too lazy to put it in outline form?

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback; we genuinely appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. The text format you mentioned is intentionally designed to match the booklet written by Prof. Frank Shann, as this is the format thousands of physicians around the world are familiar with and expect. We understand that it might seem different from an outline form, but consistency with Prof. Shann’s original layout is important to ensure that this resource remains immediately recognizable and usable for those who rely on it daily. We value your input and will consider it as we strive to improve our resources. Thank you again for your support.

Superb Resource

I’ve used it in far flung bush hospitals, and even on an aeroplane. Probably my number one drug dosing reference.

Response from developer

Thanks so much for your feedback! Being a pediatric intensivist myself, I have been using my own app during med evac too. I remember coding a child over northern Canada and using DrugDoses. Thanks again! Oliver

Great content. Terrible interface

The actual content of this app (the stuff in the book) is brilliant. It’s presentation within the app however, is awful. Slabs of unformatted text, no support for modern screen sizes and no updates for over a year. It’s not like it’s cheap either.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback. We hope that the updated version has improved the interface. However, we are unable to format or edit the text, as it has to be the exact copy of the booklet's content.

Can’t restore my purchase !!

I bought the lifetime license before , and now the app keeps telling me that my license will expire in less than a month!!
Otherwise this is a good app.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback. We're happy you enjoy the app, but we're really sorry for the issue with the license. As we have now removed the need for a lifetime license, you should be able to enjoy your app. Thanks again! Oliver

You pay twice!

I paid full price for this app (approximately 20$ NZ) with no mention of ongoing fees, to recently recieve a notification informing me I would need to pay a further $7.50 (NZ) to continue using the app. Rip-off. Deleted

Response from developer

We are really sorry about this. Thanks to your feedback, we have decided to remove the need for the license. You can now enjoy DrugDoses without having to pay a second time.

License payment

Every time I make a payment it says I’m not allowed to make a payment.:

Response from developer

We are really sorry for this issue. Could you please contact Apple, as they process the payments?

Very annoyed - double dipping

I have moved from using Franks book to the app when it first appeared in the App Store. I’m certain there was no “2 year” license at the time. The app is great but I’m sure the updates have slipped in this 2 year thing. It’s flat out greedy double dipping and I’m very upset about it. App content itself rates five stars. Admin crew looking after it rates one star. Would love to hear a developer response.

We are really sorry you were disappointed by the need for the second payment. Following your feedback, we have now removed the need for a second payment. You should be able to enjoy DrugDoses again. If you have any further concerns, please reach me at info@drugdoses.net.

Charging twice

I bought this app years ago. I recall no explanation of licensing options at the time. Now it is expected that a second payment is made for a “lifetime license” to continue using the app. Is this even permissible under App Store rules? It sets a bad precedent. I would like to hear the developer response.

Response from developer

Thank you for this feedback. In the iTunes description, we do indeed state that the app comes with a two-year free update period, after which users will have to purchase a lifetime license. This has been implemented to avoid an unfair competition between the app and the booklet. Users who have the booklet must buy a new one every two to three years. We are sorry about this.
