  • Fantastic Retina Update!!!

I have over 500 apps and this is my favourite by far. Can't imagine any reason for giving this less than 5 stars. Along with the nearly identical Moon Globe app from the same developer it's gives you an uncanny feeling of actually being there, not just of viewing the surface but actually visiting these two bodies in space. The adjustable lighting reveals that Mars is not only 3D in the sense of being a globe but also in the sense of having actual 3D mountains and canyons and craters ect embossed into its surface. It contains a stupefying amount of information about our red brother - more than even an astronaut going there would need - and the swipe gestures for zooming and panning and orbiting are so smoothly and intuitively interpreted that you feel like you're controlling it with your mind rather than your screen. Can't imagine any room for improvement aside from adding the ability to zoom in even further and now I see that the HD version has granted this wish too... even for the iPhone!!! Amazing! Thanks!!!

  • Mars on your iPod!

This is a very cool little app!
  • Gorgeous and Fascinating!

Wow - Get this app! It's an amazing visualization of the Mars globe using satellite imagery and rendering of the terrain, colorization and features that increase the feeling of realism such as the atmospheric haze. It's smooth and fast (although a big download) to spin and zoom the globe, and it's just full of so much data that's been really well laid out. Not only is the data interesting, it's beautifully done too - I could sit and explore Mars for hours and still go back for more! Well worth the price and more! (Thanks Midnight Martian! Well done!)

  • If you like Mars...

If you think Mars is cool, you can't go wrong having your own digital Mars globe for free. And it doesn't just spin, it has labels and descriptions of all of the most important features and tidbits of Mars exploration history. You can zoom anywhere and alter the angle of light. The graphics are good. If you don't think Mars is interesting, probably not your app. But if your even bothering to read these reviews, you'll most likely like it.

    Makes me very 'appy!

    And it's free!
  • Mars God of War

Good app would have liked to see Phobos and Demos, hope future updates can get even higher resolution. Would like to see other planets if data is available some day. Needs to show British, Canadian and all other countries spacecraft too.
  • Totally Cool

Awesome work. An iPhone must for astronomy geeks like me. I'm so thankful there are people who love the subject enough to build a free app like this.
  • Drop dead gorgeous view of Mars!

This app absolutely blows me away! It is smooth, detailed and offer a sensational opportunity to gain familiarity with the features of the red planet before mankind embarks upon actually visiting. And to the developers-PLEASE update this app for the iPad in even higher resolution. I'll buy it again without bliinking as soon as I get my paws on this new gadget!!

Truly astounding app - thank you for this and for the Moon as well - please tell me that a similar Earth app is on the way.

  • Fantastic

Followed this from the great moon globe. Just as good, allow yourself to stop and think for a bit and this app becomes truely amazing! Thanks.
