  • Nice app, deceptive billing, hard to cancel

Beware that even if you sign up through Apple Pay, transactions will not appear in the subscriptions list in the iOS settings! I didn’t realize I had subscribed to something and then I got charged for a full year! You can only cancel on desktop, and when I tried that the cancellation page kept crashing and reloading!

Luckily after reaching out to the customer support and arguing about it I was able to get a refund. It certainly was not clear that this was going to be an auto renewing deal. Especially since I did not provide my credit card number, it went through Apple Pay. I did some investigation and the only place where they said it would be auto renewing was in small gray writing on a gray background at the bottom of the welcome email. It’s super shady that it doesn’t show in Apple subscriptions.

It’s too bad because it really is a nice app and a cool idea. My two free postcards arrived promptly and looked great. But when a company tries to hide billing information like this, and make it so difficult to unsubscribe, really makes me wary. Now I don’t trust them, so I’m out.

  • Cancellation Policy Issue

So I signed up for this almost a year ago. It’s nice to be able to send personal notecards; however, one card I created never got sent. Didn’t use it as much as I expected to and noticed that the membership level I have only let the cards roll over for three months. Um, no. If I paid for the two cards a month subscription, those cards should continue to accrue until I use them. So, since I’m not using that many, I would prefer to pay for cards as I want them. Well, when I selected cancel my subscription in the app, it tells me I have to use an actual computer to cancel. Oh, so I can use my phone to sign up and give you money, but you’re going to make me jump through hoops to stop the subscription. That’s a foul. Fine, I’ll go online and cancel and will never use or recommend this service to anyone again.

  • Nothing has arrived

Have sent 6 cards and weeks later, nothing has arrived at any of the multiple destinations I have sent things to. Their two week window return policy needs to be upped to at least 2 months as 5 weeks later I’m still waiting on the first card I sent to be delivered.
  • Credits expire?! Wow.

Sometimes I load up my account with a substantial amount of cash because I’m in for the long haul. It’s convenient for me, but it’s also a gesture of loyalty. Well, I just got an email saying I’ll lose my credits if I don’t use them in the next couple of months. You have a year to use the cash you invest and anything left over vanishes from your account. Why? It makes no sense. Bye-bye, TouchNote.

Update: the developer says that the expiration policy was explained at the time of purchase and in the terms & conditions. This is false. In fact, the terms and conditions were changed after my purchase was made. From a customer service email: “Our credits would previously expire after twelve months of inactivity, but we updated our Terms and Conditions and they now expire 364 days after purchase regardless of whether you've used some of them in the last twelve months or not.”

That, people, is called moving the goalposts. For this sneaky behaviour, I continue to boycott Touchnote. And for the breathtakingly cheeky act of trying to make it sound like it’s my mistake, I’m reducing my rating from two stars to one.

    Developer Response

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear the expiration date of your credits caught you by surprise. Our expiration policy is explained at the time of purchase and on our Terms & Conditions. If you have any questions, please get in touch with our support!
  • Beee WAAAAARE

This app seems great the first time you use it. I ordered one card, it was nicely printed and sent to my grandfather and I thought, “How lovely! How perfectly easy! I love this!” So, I ordered some personalized cards to go to people for thank you’d when my baby was born and people gave me gifts. At first, NONE OF THEM WERE DELIVERED. After the latest date for delivery passed and none had been delivered, I requested a resend. Again, the new delivery date came and went and not a single one was delivered. So I complained to customer service. They asked for order numbers and FINALLY some of my cards started trickling to the mailboxes. THEN, I started getting phone calls from some people who said they got a card that was supposedly from me, with my return address on the envelope, but that had a birthday card from someone else, or a thank you note, but signed “Laverne,” and definitely not from me. I must have sent 18 cards. I have no idea if some of them ever reached their destination because now I am too embarrassed to ask. This app seems great, but for the price of an ACTUAL GREETING CARD, this is much too much to spend for something that doesn’t even send what you request and requires CONSTANT follow up. I just want my money back that I paid for credits to be able to send cards.

  • Pretty good.

I would give this 5 stars without hesitation if there were more customizable options for the photo layouts. It’s hard to talk to my grandma on the phone because she’s nearly deaf and has trouble speaking due to Parkinson’s. So I try to tell a story about things in my life with photos. I love that I can add little test stickers to the photos, but I would also like to be able to make different photos different sizes, make the borders bigger or smaller, and be able to change the color of the background behind the photos. I should also be able to change the font size in the text stickers. For my next card I might use a different app to make a photo collage, then add that as a single photo and add the stickers. That will work, but I should be able to do those things in this app 🤷‍♀️

  • Great idea

My dad is in a care home in lockdown, he’s 90 and can’t use a phone. Saw him at mums funeral a few months ago but not really spoke to him since February when all this COVID happened. The idea that I could send him photos of what we’re all getting up to and he could put them on his wall or in an album is brilliant.
You don’t get to see the pricing until you’ve been forced to make a card, so I went through all the stages of setting up a card, didn’t have a great photo so I had to use one of my cat, got upset thinking what to write, then found out you have to pay for a yearly subscription.
I’d happily pay for this, and would have wanted the highest option of 6 cards a months, but to pay for the whole year is just too much.
So I’ve dropped a star, it’s a great idea, but I don’t like that you’re not given the price info from the start and the yearly fee. Hopefully there’s a website doing something similar.

  • Frustrating in the extreme SCREAM

Every single time I use a multi picture layout, it puts my horizontal pictures into the vertical slot and turns my vertical ones horizontal even though I am placing them carefully and correctly - it just alters the layout. When I rotated my pictures to upload them to try and fix this, it then does not change so they’re still wrong. Grrrrr. Why do you offer a layout and then when I use it, change it? What is the point? I will use up my credits on some single photos that the app can actually handle - and then go elsewhere. The first issue I had was your free trial showing me things PAYG version doesn’t have so then when I bought credits I couldn’t use some features. I could understand if there was a difference between a completely free service and a paying one but this is a difference between features for PAYG and monthly customers. I just prefer to pay ad hoc rather than monthly. Why would you prevent your paying customers from achieving what they want in the layout, especially when you appear to offer those options? The worst user experience of any photo site I’ve tried.

  • Easy and painless to send postcards

    Highly recommend
  • I loved this but

They make you do a year . I thought it would be $5 a month to send my grandma some cool pictures but they just took $60 out of my account and signed me up for a year long service. It’s hard to delete it or even get my money back . I’m sad because I really liked the few cards I sent before this but they’re making it really difficult to delete my account or get a refund. You have to get on a computer to delete it apparently but even then it is very confusing I’m super disappointed . If you have an extra $60 they are cute cards .

Update: Originally gave it one star because I was frustrated about not being able to cancel but after talking with Olivia she had my account canceled in 24 hours . Thank you !
