  • The delight of saving special documents

I have been using Dropbox for a very long time. I have even introduced other people to the joy of Dropbox. I love it when I want to send documents to other people who don’t have Dropbox but the can still open the document! I think that’s amazing.
Recently I got a message from Dropbox to say that it was full. I tried paying for an update but for some reason Dropbox would not accept my new credit card which is the only one I have! ( I had to get a new credit card because my credit card was scammed!) I did write a note to Dropbox, but I didn’t get a reply! Breda

  • Awesome love love it,!!!

I love this app & don’t know how I would get all my years of photos & Docs. W/out it!!? No matter what device or if I lost my phone even a new number I can always count on the Drop box for my most treasured items!! Thank you Drop box for years of keeping my most important things safe and I never have to worry! This app is easy to use but with many important features for more complicated work projects or for creating art. I love that it is never evasive it only keeps tract of what you want it to by sending to Drop box with just one press of a finger. That’s why I love it I don’t feel stocked by the makers of this app & if you care about these things to don’t hestitate to down load and you get a lot of good storage for free and if you choose you can get more for a more than reasonable price a year!

  • The DropBox Folks are Good People

The city I live in received a direct hit from Hurricane(s) Laura and Delta back-to-back in Aug. 2020. Laura was a Category 4 with sustained winds of 175mph. Delta dropped 17 inches of rain in 4 hours. The damage to my home and the City was extensive. I was shocked and devasted by the damage because I had just retired as the result of a complex hip fracture. I was on crutches and dealing with severe pain.
I had subscribed to the Dropbox Premium version a few months before the storms. After the storm I was unable to afford the monthly fees because the debris cleanup and living expenses in the aftermath of the storm were stretching my wallet to the extreme.
I called DROPBOX Support and explained my situation and indicated I needed to end the subscription. The SUPPORT TEAM was very nice and supportive. They downgraded me to the free version.
I remember that experience with gratitude. And I thank the Dropbox folks for their help. The app. is great. I love how it integrates with my other apps for all kinds of content. It is very useful for creators like myself.

  • Big video compression when using Dropbox on iPad

UPDATE: The title of this review is video. Not photo. Video. Uploading large video files via the dropbox app for iPad or in browser (on an iPad) heavily compress the video files without telling you. It should tell you that it’s doing it and ya’ll shouldn’t be in such denial that it’s happening. It’s a thing.

UPDATE: Dear developer response, you’re not getting it. We’re not talking about the quality of previews, we’re talking about how your app compresses files when uploading from certain devices without notifying users. —————— Just a heads up to users using dropbox professionally—using it on an iPad means big time compression of video files (without telling you). I found out the hard way working with a client. It’s silly—I’m on an $1800 iPad Pro and the app is treating it like an iPad 2. I thought using the web-app (through Safari) would work when the app didn’t, but still mad compression. Time to catch up with the times or at least let users know compression is happening.

  • Hiring

Drop Box hires only non-whites. If you are woke, go for it, if you stand against racism, do not use it.
  • Missing feature

What happened to the very helpful and efficient option to upload all photos taken during a time period? I used to be able to click once to upload all of today’s photos. Now I have to click click click click click click etc.

  • Needs bugs worked out

    Hello,
I depend on Dropbox for my personal and Business data back up and I have an iPhone 11 with all of the latest iOS and software, however the dropbox app from the AppStore will not upload my photos! Even when I’m on a Wi-Fi connection at 50+ Mbps upload speeds, it is not enough for me to get my photos and videos uploaded which is a bug in the app surely. If I literally watch it upload, it is so slow that it takes minutes for a simple photo to upload and if I walk away from my phone (even with the screen on) it just stops uploading and is on the same file/photo when I come back to it, sometimes up to an hour later. It’s like when my phone is sitting still it won’t upload photos, which I’m sure is some sort of a bug with this app that is tied to some sort of sensor on my iphone. Something that needs to be investigated and resolved because given that I have the dropbox business enterprise premium plan I should be able to upload photos or someone should respond to my support tickets and help me resolve this issue which I have recorded exactly as I’ve stated on video. And I've never had a reply for support beyond an initial email.

  • Working great, one irksome “feature”

I don’t understand all the problems people describe. My experience with Dropbox has been great, with it being very reliable. In one respect it’s even better than iCloud for saving a PDF opened from a website. I can save it directly to Dropbox, but I cannot save it directly to an iCloud folder. Nice.

The one annoying feature is with setting up a new account on a computer and Dropbox assuming that the user wants to have files saved solely in the cloud. That default setting isn’t immediately obvious and caused me and others to being unable to access files while traveling. Moreover, figuring out how to turn that setting off was not obvious and difficult to find. Easy to change once found, but it required some digging.

The user’s preference for local verses cloud storage should be the first thing asked during a set up, and a description of how to change it should be provided right there during set up.

  • More Flexible

I’ve been using Dropbox for a while now. I agree with some others that the 2 GB should be increased by now to keep up with competition. I also think their should be more flexibility with the system but it seems you are actually going backwards. Instead of making things easier to use like saving photos to your device or moving files from Dropbox to your computer you are trying to discourage people from doing these things. If I want to store an image on my iPhone photo album I am going to do that.

Also when you open the app if goes to recent files instead of your folders where everything is. Then you can hide the recent files under settings but instead of removing the tab you just hide the files and replace it with a button that allows you to show recent files. Completely useless settings option.

  • Duplicate scans, no multiple photo upload

When scanning documents using the mobile app, I frequently get duplicate pdfs added. There will be the original one it scanned, and then a second one with “ (1)” appended to its filename. Some times there will even be a third one with “ (2)”. This has been going on for at least a 1 year. Terrible quality control and crappy app. To add insult to injury, there is no way to upload more than one photo at a time through the iPhone’s photo library. If you select multiple photos, there is no option to upload to Dropbox. These are super basic things and it seems like the Dropbox team has abandoned its app. Add on to that the drama with their company saying they will not support M1 macs, only to do an aboutface after being publicly humiliated. I have been paying for Dropbox for more than a decade, but now i’m looking for a way to start transitioning to a a service that cares more about its customers. Real pity for what used to be a promising and user-centric company
