  • App is broken

Downloaded it to my Apple TV and iPhone, tried to watch the live streams (there are three channels to choose from) all of them said they’re unable to play. I’m located in New Zealand if that makes a difference. If it only works in the United States then should say so in the description rather than me, as the user, only find out after wasting time downloading it.

  • Love It but So SLOOOOOW

This is my favorite news app and I’ve had it for a long time. I like that it thoroughly covers all the categories of news. I only have one major complaint and a small complaint. The major one is that the pages take SO LONG to load. For a while I thought my phone must be the problem but a little research shows it actually is caused by all the ads on the pages. I mean it’s really slow. Isn’t there another way? It’s annoying.

My smaller complaint is that once I watch a video, even after I come out of that video I continue to hear subsequent videos playing. I have to go back into the video (and remember how long that takes!) and actually pause the video and X out. But today even that didn’t work. I actually had to turn the volume all the way down on my phone.

Still, CNN is the best news app. I do read others but I read ALL of this one first every day and just browse others.

  • Paul

The new app is much better. It loads faster now and the categories page is now on the top line making it quicker and easier to switch.
Two requests. I would like to be able to order the categories to my liking. In my case I would move Opinion after Business as the rest I rarely if ever view.
Second. It is good to have links underlined within a story to obtain more relevant or background info on it but it is all too easy to tap on one in error when scrolling down the main story. It is quite irritating. Perhaps modify it to require a double tap to open the link would eliminate or at least reduce the probability of opening it when scrolling down.
    Otherwise much improved. Thanks

  • Can not access your app

In the latest upgrade you have issued I can no longer access cnn News on my apple iPhone X. I have previously said yes to all cookie requests I have been bombarded with so I shouldn’t have had any issues. This has now actually really annoyed me when I have previously always enjoyed cnn’s news.
  • Advice

App is excellent. My only complaint is that when opening subject-specific links such as “Sports”, the news stories never automatically update themselves from the last time that I checked that link. The updating of news stories to include all of the more recent/current stories only occurs after opening and then closing one (or multiple) older news stories that are still present at the top of the page.

For example, if I check the Sports news link now, the first story listed will still be the same one at the top of the page from two days ago... After opening and closing one or more of the two-day-old news story at the top of the Sports page, only then will any newer, subsequently posted stories be present.

  • CNN coverage of Trump

Trump is a terrible human being but CNN overdoes it’s coverage of him and gives him way too much publicity. There’s plenty of other important news out there. More balance please CNN.
  • Please Lose the Links

I switched to CNN News from other news apps for two reasons; 1) The commercials are only 15 seconds prior to a video as compared to 30 seconds for others, and 2) the other apps had these annoying underlined links to related stories or media that always got in they way of scrolling through a news article.

Now it seems that CNN has adopted these annoying and inconvenient “links”. There is no way for me to scroll through a news story without unintentionally activating one of these links. I have tried scrolling along the side with varying degrees of pressure to no avail. I have tried to avoid the links by scrolling several lines of text above or below the link, but it still invariably activates the link. It has gotten so frustrating, that I am now relegated to watching the videos while I search for a new news app.

CNN, please lose the links or stand the chance of losing more frustrated users like myself.

  • Freezing Screens

I love CNN. I attempted to upgrade to a newer software version because my older version would “Freeze” while I attempted to scroll to read thru the app. Once I upgraded to the newer app thinking that the newer version wouldn’t freeze on me; the newer app was worse! Now I can’t even scroll past the first story without it freezing up. Really frustrating. I’ve tried repeatedly to uninstall & the-install the app with no luck. I was better off with the older version freezing intermittently than now not able to read any story at all. I’m now without CNN; as I’ve uninstalled your app completely. Please fix. You have enough resources to ensure that this conglomerate can technically & perpetually reach its audience from any media source that’s out & available.

  • Great app, but advertising is annoying

I like the app a lot, the content is well organized, varied and deep. It’s my go-to news app.

When it comes to video content, every story is usually preceded by an ad, which, in itself, is ok and understandable. However, if you watch several videos, you’ll probably have to see the same commercial you saw the first time every time. I find this very annoying. I would think they’d have a way of knowing you already saw the ad and either not show any ad or at least replace it with some other ad, to keep viewers from having a negative reaction. This was particularly irritating leading up to the midterm elections, when a particular candidate’s commercial played over and over. Even though he happened to be my preferred candidate, I had to watch the same commercial way too many times.

In the end, I frequently avoid watching videos altogether because of this and stick to the written stories.

  • Great news coverage easily accessed

Easy to use app that provides access to news coverage that is worldwide and often hits stories not readily available in other sources.
