  • Removed CNN app after 15 Years

Ive been using CNN as my primary news source on all my phones the last 15 years. Ive always found their approach to news, fair, unbiased, and informative. Your election coverage has been excellent. But the past 2 years the quality of the news has radically declined. Many of the new people they hired carry distrust, even hatred, of certain demographics of people, express ageism, bigotry, and a bias that distorts the news. Every story now tries to dig up racial distrust and inflame division between Americans intentionally. This is borderline delusional and why many people have turned away from the tv version. The quality of the writing has radically declined and is often uninformed or illiterate. There is confusion in the messaging or meaning. And the silly pop culture news events that fill up the app are frankly meaningless. We have wars and earthquakes going on and you guys are writing about grammy dances and arguing on camera about if black police are too white. I hope the new owners figure out what is not working because frankly insulting your audience then asking us to watch is a good starting point.

  • Useless for multitaskers

Reasonable app, good content. But hopeless if you’re someone balancing feeds and streams for all round coverage. As soon as you scroll down on videos you haven’t even loaded, it kills your audio from any other feed. Annoying and frustrating.
  • Pathetic download times and long commercials

This App would be great if it was actually designed specially for iPads, instead of strictly for sponsorship profit. The many CNN video snippets generally take 10-15 seconds to download from the internet to the iPad (even with high speed WiFi), then you have to wait for a commercial to slowly completely open up, then you have to endure a boring 13 second commercial....all before you actually get to see the real video. Thus a 30-40 second waste of time to view a 15 second snippet. This App is not optimized for anything other than video viewer annoyance. If I didn’t like and respect CNN so much I would delete it out of frustration. I prefer Apple News as it is much quicker. Wake up CNN......you’re supposed to be the most trusted news network. I trust you should be able to do a better job of optimizing your video management.

  • Why my rating

Over the years, CNN has moved from being my primary source of news to a lot less. There’s less news and more opinion. I find most stories to be leading rather than factual. There are 2 basic problems for CNN. First, there is simply not enough news to fill the daily news cycle. Recently, the network reported that the election results would take 4 or 5 days to tabulate, but CNN promised 24/7 coverage.
Secondly, credibility is diminished because the network relies on advertising. The ratings battle for all news programming has risen to such a level that the structure of reporting has moved beyond informing its viewers to leading them. Journalistic integrity of the day is sacrificed for keeping the interest of the viewers so they stay tuned.
It is much easier to maintain good journalism when a network has an entertainment component for revenue to offset the costs of providing information. Without this, news networks must find a way to lure viewers in order to maintain ratings.

  • Very interesting website

I enjoy the CNN news website. During the downfall of Trump, I was hooked, so pleased that he lost the election.I enjoy watching the team and it makes me feel that there are some intelligent Americans. I say this because I cannot believe the stupidity of the many Trump followers who believe his lies. I would like there to be more news added to the website especially over the weekend. I wonder if the American people realise how shocked English people are that Trump was ever elected and pleased that Joe Biden is now the president. Great reporting, keep up the good work. Best wishes from beautiful Devon.

  • CNN

CNN is my first read of the news online; the past few months and more; I feel, the content has gone down. You have most of the same excellent reporters; but it seems to me they are being shouldered with the reporting all the news. A multi-million $$$$$ business is certainly capable of hiring more researchers to feed more substance to the presenters. Excellent reporters have been let go and you're down to bare bones. Anderson Cooper and Jake Tapper are excellent; but are they expected to carry it all? The online news has sometimes the same tired articles almost all week. I don't have cable news and don't get the newspaper; nor do I intend to get it; but I read voraciously and news I can find. I don't like being trapped to listen to a whole broadcast when I'm not interested in all. I appreciate the coverage all though Covid; CNN went above above beyond and saved hundreds; if not thousands of people with the true facts.
    sincerely yours, A. Lane

  • Have had enough - Used to be smooth

Update: Now Opera automatically opens this app after having looked at a CNN article in the browser, I have removed this app as navigation on the iPad Pro is incredibly frustrating.

Don’t know what you did to “improve” the app, but it is now terribly jerky navigation-wise. The iPad Pro should be able to handle anything you throw at it - and it has no problems with any of the other apps on it - but YOUR app is failing badly...

  • Where’s my sound gone?

Content aside, the only annoying thing about this app is its tendency to hijack the audio on my phone when I use it. It’s not related to watching video content in the app, that would be obvious. But if I have music playing on the phone music app and I open the CNN app - whether viewing a text-based story or just scrolling through the headlines - the music stops playing. I’ve had other apps do this and this is usually fixed in a new release, but the CNN app has been doing this for years. I’m really not sure why they can’t fix this.

  • CNN App review.

I think one of the screens popped up saying do you love the cnn app. I believe i accidentally bumped the no button trying to turn off the phone real quick, but you could put yes. I like my cnn, and then read the opposite other app. You get a balance. I never get angry at this. I feel like reading the app is critical in making you sharper in essay writing. For instance, if you were to write a persuasive essay and then write the opposite to persuade the opposite way. You got to have one to have the other. It’s skills. Nevertheless that’s only in politics, but there are a lot of other news stories also which aren’t political and they are well rounded like the science stories and different things too. So overall, I think it’s a nice app to catch up on news. If I listen too much to fox news i have to go to cnn, and then back around, get a balance of what everyone thinks. That’s what I think.

  • CNN

Very sad my TV supplier Virgin Media is not going to show CNN in future. I am really going to miss it very much. What a great team! Ian I have now left Virgin due to its poor performance. 50 minutes plus to answer the phone. Great reporting by CNN on the Russian convoy. Ian

Pleased to keep on viewing CNN after dumping Virgin Media and switching to BT. CNN’s information is easily understood, the pictures just great and the reporting brave and very interesting. Also, Trump shown up to be the total idiot that he is. What’s not to like!!!!! Ian
