Fantastic, but u don't get money fast enough!! It has taken me one month, no joke, to save up to 1080 gold! It's not because I am crap, but because every time I fail a level, and get halfway, I gain a measly 15 gold. Seriously, it get boring after a while when u can't complete a level, and it takes u decades to afford stuff! Plz give more money for failed levels.Show lessIfyeezywasabubble

Hook Champ is amazing. I love swingin' my way through caverns collecting gold because the animation is so smooth and works perfectly with the simple retro graphics. This game has some great features. Hook Champ is an old
School platformer which is very rhythm-based. Along with the rpg elements, this makes the game very addictive. Highly reccomemded.Anjohl

Whoa! Great gameplay, sweet graphics, can't go wrong with this!
There are some games that come out of the appstore that feel like they're disposable; pick them up, play for a few minutes, and you've got your fill. Hook Champ is NOT one of those. This game keeps me coming back for more with it's fun gameplay, intriguing graphics, and the simple feeling of exploration. The rope-swinging gameplay reminds me of Bionic Commando back in the day, which isn't a bad thing. The developers have a good sense of humor, and the store upgrades, ghost races, and level unlocks keep me coming back to see what else there is to find. I *very* rarely replay a game to get better course times, but this one somehow works like that. Good job Rocketcat Games, this one's a winner. Keep it up.Show lessFelix Parochus
Great game - easy to pick up, tough to master
Easily one of my favorite games on the iPhone/iPod touch. It's definitely earns it's place among the other permenant residents of my device (which include Edge, Unify, Eliss, Archibald's Adventures, Fieldrunners, and Minigore.. If you haven't tried any of them, look them up they're worth your time).
I have pretty high standards when it comes to games I buy.. They've got to play great, have a fun concept, look great, as well as have me coming back for repeat plays... The first week I got this game, I played it every free moment I had. It has all those qualities I listed above in spades, as well as great personality.. The dialogue and the whole hat obsession is a wonderful quirky addition that only enhances the game.
Now about DLC... I do side with other reviewers about hating it, but I'm more leniant when a game only charged me a buck or two for the initial game.. I have more problems with console games which cost $40-60 (or $100 or so if for RockBand) changing for DLC when the game costs so much as it is.. In those situations I'd much rather have it be unlockable. For a game like this, where it's a cheap game made independently (more or less) I wouldn't mind throwing them an extra buck or two like I did for minigore, as long as they support the game with free updates as well.. Primarily: levels & hats=free, characters = $ .... That I can deal with...

Completely the best.
I'm all for 8 bit games but this was just incredible. Nothing about it is wrong an the developers have completley out done themselves. I can play it for hours and never get bored. An absolute must for people who like a challenge as the higher levels get pretty hard. Practice enough though and you will be swinging your way to the end.Show lessSimonW88
