Hands down my favorite iPhone game
I wish I had the time to write a longer review of this game because it absolutely deserves it, but I just wanted to say that this is easily my favorite iPhone game. It has fun gameplay, great level design, and an addictive upgrade and achievement system for all of you completionists out there (like myself). The game was fantastic when it launched, and it will only get better with time because the developer has talked about plans to continuously add levels to the game for free indefinitely. The whole game is wrapped in wonderfull nostalgic pixelated graphics with chiptune music, and load times on my iPhone 3GS are nonexistent. It's very difficult to find anything about Hook Champ to complain about. Good work.v53gr24fwef
Awesome
I can't stop playing this. It's easy to control but challenging later on and the unlocks keep making me play. I think it's in the same league as Minigore: interesting presentation (I much prefer the retro look to some of the terrible attempts at 3D graphics of some others), simple controls, nice smooth learning curve and replayability in the form of multiplayer, leaderboards and unlockables, in fact even the unlockables are unlockable.
The game itself though, I think of it as Mario meets the Ninja Rope from Worms with very light RPG elements. The presentation style suits the iPhone and doesn't hamstring the gameplay like 3D graphics would.
One complaint, though... The coin collection sound is so high pitched it hurts my ears.Show lessneema_t
Best old school game on iPhone
This game not only has excellent retro (8 bit) graphics, it actually has a learning curve. It's nice to have a challenging but extremely fun game. Plus the developer adding loads of content and even some optional DLC helps add to the 'value' as a whole. Great leaderboards too. Some of the best.

At first, I was not convinced at all, but gave it a try after seeing a demo video on their website. Now all I can say is WTF, this is one of the best games I've ever played on iPod touch!am6

Fantastic iPhone game with great depth and replay value
Who doesn't like grappling hooks? The trick here is to keep swinging and keep your speed up. That helps you find the high coins, Sonic style, and trade them in the store for better hooks, ropes, guns, and especially hats. Rather brilliantly, you race your best ghost, so the incentive to find the fastest path is intense. Loads of Open Feint achievements, leader boards, tricksy levels; I've been playing every spare minute for three days and I still haven't unlocked everything. And there's even a free version for people for whom £1.79 represents a major fiscal outlay. Splendid game.Show lessBohemianCoast
This game is great fun!
When I first played Hook Champ I was having a hard time with the controls and I couldn't figure out how I was suppose to play. After 30 minutes of trial and error I finally got the hang of it; subsequently, it was the most fun that I have had with an ipod game. I've had this game since it was released in October and I still keep coming back to it whenever I get the chance to play it. Beating the high scores is what drives me to play the game over and over again. Kudos to the game makers for this enjoyable game. This game is a must have if you like awesome games.Show lessEvilWHAT
