  • don’t get unless updated

idk if this is to the developer or the buyer but you can’t play the game without a update for the game, i paid for this and can’t play it, update it.
  • GAME NEEDS UPDATE

The game can no longer be played because it needs to be updated through the app store! Please look into this! I still play this game from time to time! Don't let it fade into obscurity!!!
  • Fantastic game - similar to Ultima 3

The game is a steal at $2. It is reminiscent to Ultima 3 from the 80s which was the initial attraction. Takes about 15 hours to complete the initial quest but had several post quests once completing which allows for replay ability. Hats off to the developers who added nice subtle touches to moving townsfolk rather than static ones. Looking forward to more titles.

  • Update needed

Great game but orientation is fouled up in sideways mode and vertical has health box in the middle of the screen
  • A wonderfully minimalistic RPG

I was in the mood for a very simple, minimalist, as bare bones as possible RPG game similar to the NES classics Dragon Warrior and Dragon Warrior II--but something even simpler and a little less demanding than those (if that's possible, those games are a little "minimalist" too compared to today's deep RPGs)--and I found it in Minimae. I love how the game intentionally strips away the usual go-to resources (experience points, buying armor, potions/herbs, healing magic) and narrows it down to just gathering gold, building up your sword, roaming the wide land in search of eight rings, and relying on towns as your only save points and HP recharges. It keeps the game focused on the most elemental part of RPGs that I have always loved most: exploring world maps (in a wonderfully vintage 8-bit layout) and looking for hidden treasures and caves. It's a simple as that, and it's exactly what I was looking for (it was a complicated time in my life, I suppose, so something this minimal was therapeutic somehow). One reviewer wrote they were sorely disappointed that it didn't have all the usual resources the adventurer has in an RGP like Dragon Warrior. Sure if you want the typical fully featured RPG like that, this game might not be for you. But if you just need something simple, a big treasure hunt on a big world map that looks like the maps from the NES RPGs, this game is perfect. Oh and the music is fantastic. It's comparable to some of Capcoms classic 8-bit tunage (especially Mega Man).

  • Bob

I really had fun! This game is very simple, not a lot of complicated things, just run around and fight and explore and find gold. The end was very good also. Looking forward to more.
  • Not worth the money

Sure, it won a contest. But as for entertainment on an iPhone? So not worth it.

It's a grind, with no skill involved. Caveat Emptor.
  • Not your typical RPG!

I gotta say I expected a lot more out of this game. Looking at the screenshots you would think it's much like the Dragon Warrior games of NES. Well it's not. From what I saw there are no armor or weapon stores because there are no armor or weapons. You can upgrade your sword but it doesn't up your attack any and you can't choose which weapon you want cause there aren't any. There aren't any item shops either so you can forget about buying herbs and other items. The touch screen controls are goofy and feel clunky. It feels like you have no control over the character because you can level him up or put armor on him. This game feels like it was thrown together so the developers could make a few bucks. Go back to the drawing board and play an actual RPG cause you have no idea what one is. I want my money back.

  • Expected more

This is not that bad of a game but for 2 bucks it could be a lot better. I expected it to be more like zelda
  • My favorite iPhone game

The music and art are phenomenal, and the gameplay is fantastic. The combat is not turn based per se, but rather when you press the attack button you either hit or are hit yourself. This ingenious and extremely simple system makes for some of the most exciting rpg battles I've played (and I play a lot of RPGs). I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like the combat in this game. Get this game, you won't regret it. P.S. To the creators I really look forward to the sequel!
