So versatile and useful!

I love the Linguee app! One of its best features is the versatility. I am studying several languages on Duolingo, and often flip from there to the Linguee app to find a particular word. The pronunciation feature is very clear, and the many examples of the word in sentences from various sources is also very very useful. I highly recommend this app.

Best offline dictionary

i have been learning spanish for over 3 years and have even traveled to spain to really get a feel of spains dialect (since i want to move there) and during my time in spain, so many areas i was without service or just had junk wifi, and this app literally without a doubt saved me from being locked out of my hotel room because i didn’t know how to say room key. this app won’t give you a translated sentence, it keeps it simple and word to word, no adds whatsoever and overall just a really good app that i’ve used during my travels and time studying spanish.

A Great Assistant

It is helping me with this difficult but very loved language!!! I use it when watching European content programs and often during my reading periods. Thank you!

Helping me enormously in mastering complex German vocabulary

After studying steadily for the last year I am now able to read German mainstream and business news with a 3-5% unknown-word rate. That means I can reasonably get the gist without a dictionary. But this was only achieved through systematically working through articles using iPad tools including Linguee. Much of this complex vocab involves terms with multiple meanings, or terms that need to be understood as phrases, not single words. That's why Linguee was crucial to this mastery.

Best word lookup

Linguee is so useful for looking up words as multiple translations and examples are shown, and the UI is clean and simple. I use it almost daily for looking up German words.

Unfortunately it seems that the app has been in maintenance mode for a while as it can be buggy. When switching to the app from multitasking, it often freezes. Most of the times I use it, I have to completely quit the app and open again.

Nonetheless thank you for a brilliant and indispensable app

Especially Useful

Linguee is especially useful with offline dictionaries to be able to translate immediately without wireless.

Lingue

This translation app is brilliant. It has a wide vocabulary and gives quotes where the word is used; therefore you understand more widely.
It is also a very clever app, as you don’t need to set it for French to English, or English to French. ( I use it just for this translation) You just tap in the word and it is clever enough to recognise the language. Other languages are available.
A Great help for reading and writing.

Awesome!

I use it for English to German translations. I can enter a word or two and the app provides a number of choices. Additionally, there are English sentences which are translated into German so that I can find the word being used in various circumstances. This is so helpful in finding the correct useage! It’s very handy when reading online. I don’t have to find my dictionary or open another website-just go to the app and check. An additional useful feature is the back arrow. It allows you to revisit the translations of words you recently looked up so that you can reinforce your memory. And yet another feature is pronunciation. You can press the button and the pronunciation will be supplied. It’s a wonderful app! Thank you very much!

You can look for the word in both languages

Search the English word then it give you the French mot, search the French mot then it gives the English word, very useful for learners !

Requires permission to explore your home network

Upon first launch, this app asks for permission to “find and connect to devices on your local network”. It claims to need this in order to connect to an “integrated network server”. As someone who’s done systems and network administration for three decades now, I don’t know what that is, and I’m pretty sure I don’t have one, so I denied permission… and then the app simply does nothing. I could enable the setting and allow it, but then that lets the app have access to my home network? No thanks. If it needs Internet access, that’s fine. If that’s what this means, then it’s horribly presented. And according to a forum I found online, the company responded to someone else with this query with a very unhelpful response, so… 1 star, and app deleted. Sigh… I’ll keep looking.
