This is beast!
There is nothing wrong with this app and everything about it is great. It's nice to see decent apps on the app store for once :D さよなら \(^o^)/
Super effective!
Best app out there for quickly learning to recognize hiragana and katakana. Great for practicing when you have a few spare minutes. Please release an iPad version too!
Best App For Kana
I work for a Japanese bank and have been learning Japanese. I have tried all the books, a couple of software packages, and several iPhone apps. This was the app that actually helped me to learn both Hiragana and Katakana, in less than two weeks no less.
The best innovation here is the different writing styles. When you are first learning, you can use a clean, easily recognizable style. Once you feel more confident, you can add more difficult styles, forcing you to recognize even chicken scratch writing. I feel confident now that I can read even a coworker's hand written notes.
Looking forward to Real Kanji!!

I know know Kana!
Love this app, I use it on the bus to work and have now learned all my ひらがな. The one change I would make is that on the practise screen you could see your score without seeing the answer!
Great app, but room for improvement
I love this app. It's great for drilling sound-symbol relationships, but there are a few simple improvements I'd like to see .
1. It would be useful to be able to select (or deselect) individual characters rather than just series. Sometimes I want to target a half-dozen symbols (in different series) with which I'm experiencing difficulty, and that's impossible to do. It could be done without complicating the UI (the simplicity of which I love) by something like having a series become grayed out when it's selected, and then touching individual symbols to deselect them, or the other way around.
2. In order to be able to work with new symbols (or series) more intensively while still being exposed to ones I've already learned, I wish that there were a way to designate the frequency with which particular characters appear. Even something as simple as being able to select high, medium, or low frequency would be helpful in terms of user customization. Could be done without complicating the UI by combining the idea about graying out selected series with using a light, medium, and dark shade of gray.

Sometimes, simple is best
By far, the best Japanese alphabet learning system out there. Simple! I learned Katakana in LESS than a week!!!!!!! No fancy shmancy stuff here, straight to the point.
Best App for learning Kana
Loved the website, so I bought the app. Perfect translation. Two requests: add a "# right" indicator (really important), and possibly a drawing practice of the kana. Had to get a second app for the latter, and the former I did manually.
Great app!
Great app!
Real Kana = Real Practice
If you want efficient practice of Hiragana and Katakana in a simple, clean environment, then this app is for you. Its usabilty is remarkable and its interface is both practical and simple. This is great practice!
Excellent kana practice
Great app. I love not needing the internet to practice my hiragana and katakana. Very smooth opperation and user-friendly. I would like it more if it automatically corrected you after around 5 or 10 wrong answers. I don't like having to research the kana online when I cant read the symbol or just dont know it. Other than that im definetly glad i got this app. So useful for practice.

Simple, practical and effective!
You pick which sets of kana you want included and as they flash you enter the romaji. Gets you actively involved. Great memory tool! Simple and to the point. Beats the multiple choice type and flip card programs. Best yet!
