  • Amazing app!

I can't believe this app is free!! It's one of the coolest iPad apps I've seen so far and I love it! I never take the time to write reviews on here, but this deserves it! It's fun for any age and it's neat to learn about all the stars, plants, and constellations. I like that you can adjust how many stars you want visible on the iPad screen, ranging from only seeing major planets and stars, to seeing every star and planet in the sky. It's hard to imagine any other features to add because it's free and it should be $50, but if they wanted to add something they could make it sink up with the weather and visibility for where you are and the app would know how many stars to show on the screen based on your area's weather conditions. It's definitely 5 stars and one of my favorite apps!!!!

  • Goskywatch

Good program. Would be good if included red screen feature so can you outside without losing night vision.
  • Incredible!!!

I usually don't write reviews but after getting this for my ipad, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts. This is probably the best, most informative app I've ever seen. I literally just had my 5 year old son outside (up past his bedtime!) looking up at the stars, planets, constellations or whatever else we could discover. I even had to stop him from looking out his window tonight by promising to show him the app tomorrow night! This is truly an unbelievable learning experience which I will be sure to share with my family for years to come. Great job!!

  • Simple, quick, free!

My wife told me to come outside tonight to see the unusually clear sky with some unusually bright stars & planets. We didn't know what we were looking at, but wanted to. So, I quickly went inside, grabbed my iPad, found this app, downloaded it and went back outside. Immediately we knew what we were looking at. Couldn't have been quicker or easier.

Of course, we diddled away another 15 minutes or so in the cold night air marveling at other "discoveries"!

I've since checked out a few of the other features--setting the time to see what will be visible or where an object will be, getting the info on various stars and planets, turning on and off the pictures and outlines for constellations, etc. It seems pretty full-featured for a free app. I'm sure if I were serious, I'd have a wish list, but this app covers my needs for now!

    It's a no-brainer download!

  • Great app

Great app and learn a lot from it. It's become my everyday new toy.
  • Great app with lots of useful functions

It's free and no ads! Been using these type of things since celestia. So many additional functions. Ie, Goto, in the information button, pick the planet, star, etc and hit the Goto button and a little arrow comes up on the target to guide you there; links to wiki for more information; night and day modes; change the date to look to the future or past; highlights the constellations; shows the orbits and horizon (N, S,E, W etc). Great little app and I couldn't find a better one, otherwise I would mention it. Thank you for a great effort.

  • Stars are fascinating

This is incredible. Finally technology meets imagination and here I am in my late forties pointing my iPad to the sky with my kids.

As a kid, looking at the sky with a blurry telescope, and a flashlight to barely figure out a chart, and not ever being sure what we were looking at....it kinda sucked. My father who knew nothing but pretended, ultimately was unable to back up our collective fascination with the sky with any technology that worked. I was around 6 and fascinated by the Apollo missions. I question the Apollo missions today as propaganda rather than reality....but the stars around us are amazing, and it's awesome to know what you're looking at!

Thanks iPad and Stargazer for making it easy!

  • Great app

Love this app, great for finding stars for celestial navigation, especially for those of us with less than perfect vision.
  • Amazing

Absolutely amazing app. I wish it existed when I was a kid....
  • So far it's great

I just got this last night so that we could take our new Orion Starblast 4.5 telescope put for a spin. At first I was disappointed with the app because it was not stable meaning the display would drift around. I experienced interference at first and occasionally afyer start up, and no matter what I did it wouldn't go away. But then I thought maybe the Ipad cover (just got a cover with what I realize now is a magnetic latch) was the problem and lo and behold the interface went away and the app display stabilized.

We were able to then ID many stars and even locate Jupiter. We used the app to help guide us, as beginner astronomers, around the sky. I think this app will be great fun for a long time
